New Jersey house don Kerri Chandler is rightfully lauded as a hero of the scene. He continues to pour his heart and soul into every record and imbue his music with real-world emotions that elevate his tunes. He is of course a master of a deep but driving sound that borrows from soul, funk and jazz in ignitible ways. The third volume of his Lost & Found EP series on his own label Kaoz Theory is packed with more gold, from the slinky depths of 'Let It (Give Me Back My Love)' to the soul staring vocal work of 'Another Dawn' via more paired back sounds on 'The Bassline' (Kerri Dark mix) and the percussive energy of 'The Breeze.' Yet another essential Kerri 12" for your collection.

Swiss producer and DJ Lea Lisa gathers together some of her favorite tracks to play out with in a double pack compilation for Favorite Recordings. As you might be able to tell from some of the artists and tracks on here, Lea likes her house music deep, tracky, sometimes soulful and verging on proper techno. Featured here are key tracks like 'Ekeyz' from Pure Science, the club mix of 'Be There' by Kerri Chandler and 'Blax Thanxs' by Abacus. One very desirable addition is the early 90s gem 'Emotional' by Think. This very strong gathering of deep house tracks may be one of the best this year. Act quick and grab a copy.

Rocksteady Disco has pressed up another tasty little hand-stamped 7" and it offers up another fine brace of Edits From Detroit on this third volume in the series. Eddie Logix is the man behind the buttons and he kicks off with 'BOSS' which has low-slung guitar sleaze and slow-motion groove rotations topped with sprinklings of percussion, angular rock riffs and guttural vocals. Flip it over and things get more smooth and seductive with 'FMPM' which has a dubbed-out disco feel, subtle cosmic chord work and bouncing bass that will keep any 'floor moving. Another great little 45.

The Energy Exchange family is one of love and shared creation and so this fourth 12" outing sees them invite the in-house production team and extended crew from the 30/70 collective all remix and rework each other. The sounds are drenched in soul and passion and use house music as a framework to explore happy vibes for the dance floor. A Maytra Roller edit kicks off with some lush broken beats and empowering vocals, then Close Counters remixes 'Brighter Star' with piano-laced energy. Elsewhere is the sublime seven-minute opus from Zeitgeist/Goodmood Sex & Candy who flip 'Acceptance' into a gloriously passionate house classic.

Newa's latest EP, Equilibrium, presents a wicked journey through four distinct techno realms. On Side-1, 'Dtrance Love' emerges as a powerhouse, delivering strong linear techno infused with an abundance of energy. Its trance-like qualities are propelled by a persistent bassline, casting an eerie and futuristic atmosphere. Following suit, 'Electro 404' takes listeners on a robotic, sci-fi-inspired adventure, showcasing Newa's versatility within the electro genre. Flipping to Side-2, the title track 'Equilibrium' explores a fusion of electro and breaks, intertwining trance chord progressions with subtle hints of acid. The result is a great blend of genres, underpinned by a weighty bass presence that commands attention. The EP concludes with the Peachlyfe remix, which feels like a sonic experiment unfolding in a science lab. This reimagined version adds a fresh perspective, injecting the track with new life and dimension. Overall, Equilibrium EP helps push Newa's reputation as a boundary-pushing artist within the techno landscape.

Recorded on March 28, 1974, at Studio Palm, Paris, Khan Jamal's skilful improvisation and rhythmic exploration throughout his 1973 jazz masterpiece Give The Vibes Some very much showcases the artist's virtuosity on the vibraphone. It is a record that takes you deep into intricate rhythms and soulful melodies all of which make for immersive atmospheres that take you into all new realms. Each track is a testament to Jamal's musical prowess and his ability to push the boundaries of jazz which his what has made it such a timeless gem amongst jazz heads.

From The Fire is a superb new album from Audrey Powne that is about as accomplished as any debut could be. The young auteur herself has composed all nine cuts, wrote all the lyrics, plays all the piano, organ and Rhodes, does all the singing, arranged all the strings and produced everything herself as she set out to have complete creative control. It is a rich and rewarding listen with some soaring solos and meticulously crafted grooves that have already won her high praise from those in the know such as Gilles Peterson.
