Review: North London duo Gorgon City have pushed the boat out on this follow-up to hit 2014 debut album, Sirens, delivering a set of radio-friendly vocal dance cuts that brilliantly blend their usual retro-futurist house and garage rhythms with thrilling pop hooks and musical flourishes variously inspired by '90s piano house, R&B, dancehall, grime and UK garage. The expansive cast list of collaborators and guest vocalists is naturally impressive, with pal Duke Dumont, grime pioneer D Double E, R&B chanteuse Kamile, Josh Barry, JP Cooper and Vaults amongst the strongest contributors. As crossover dance albums go, Escape is pretty nifty.

Review: This is the first album in seven years from seminal electronic music project Leftfield (now led solely by co-founding member Neil Barnes), and contains some of their purest and most innovative output to date. While not available to the public just yet, 'Pulse' is the lead track, and carries with it an updated sound that seems to draw on the deep-euphoric influence of Bicep or DJ Seinfeld. It contains guest contributions from Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten and author Lemn Sissay, and charts a sparky creative spate despite a difficult period for the Barnes.

Review: This sure is a good time album from SG Lewis at a time when we need just that. His happy and infectious sound draws on disco, pop and house and spits out crystalline melodies and glossy sound effects that all come embellished with emotive vocals. It is a fulsome sound but a classy one with tracks like 'Back To Earth' sure to become big anthems. Guess like Nile Rodgers, Frances and Robyn all help add extra flair to these subtle, well styled cuts. The emotions range from bittersweet like on 'Heartbreak On The Dancefloor' to party time on 'Rosner's Interlude.'

Review: There's no doubt that Glow, the long-awaited debut full-length from chart-bothering nu-disco/deep house/synth-Balearica fusionist Marco "Tensnake" Niemerski, feels like an "event" release. Released on major label Virgin EMI, and featuring an impressive all-star cast of collaborators - Chic's Nile Rodgers, Jamie Lidell and Stuart Price amongst them - it perfectly captures Niemerski's floor-focused, radio-friendly sound (think chiming synth melodies, baggy grooves, addictive vocals and kaleidoscopic compositions). As befits an album of this nature, there are plenty of musical shifts (from the boss-influenced, piano-laden Balearica of "Listen Everybody", to the deep nu-disco shuffle of previous single "See Right Through", via the skittering, saucer-eyed, dubstep-influenced future R&B of "Holla"), and enough sing-along moments to impress even the most cynical of critics.
