Bluebox is the portable digital audio mixer that lets you get the most out of your electronic music gear. Connect your eurorack, sampler, drum machine and synthesizer outputs to 6 stereo, 3.5 mm TRS inputs and map them to 12 mono tracks or 6 stereo tracks, all with independent control for recording and playback. It's that keyboard mixer with live performance features that you always hoped someone would make.

Connect the output of your electronic music gear to bluebox, and then route each track independently to the three outputs and effects sends. Each track offers control of volume, gain, 4 band parametric EQ, pan, mute and solo functions. Apply high-quality global reverb and delay effects along with 4 band EQ per track to add new depth to your sound with total control to quickly tweak incoming audio or track playback as needed.

With Bluebox you can record independent tracks or the Main mix using a standard microSD card. Capture your jam session for later review, or record the ultimate mix of the tracks for your song.

Bluebox's compact 5.5h x 5h x 2h case lets you tuck it into a crowded tabletop studio or throw it in your pack for the next gig.

Interact with the dynamic visual interface on the 3.5h touchscreen along with physical knobs, navigation buttons and transport buttons to quickly access the most important functions. MIDI input and output allow you to sync the clock with external gear for synchronized effects and metronome.

Our DSP engineers worked hard, crafting and refining beautiful reverb algorithms to enhance every performance. As well as some bug fixes, this firmware update will add two more play modes to the unit: a looper and a slicer. The Loop mode allows you to record a loop of up to 16 beats, play patterns during that recording and have the Timetosser loop that, or remix a recorded loop like you would do in the original Live mode. The Slicer mode allows you to make slices of a recorded loop and play those slices on top of the live audio in MPC style. Overall a very quick and easy way to make live samples of your ongoing audio.

Next to that, Alter Audio have added a full set of new preset patterns which auto-remix your music by adding in a bit of beat shuffling, some nice offbeat timings and drop in the odd mute and reverse within the pattern.

Nice to know: The update brings Apple silicon support for the Mac version of the VST3 plugin as well.

Notes: The AMP Electronics Melody Oracle is a pattern generating sequencer/synthesizer with a game-board style switching interface. It utilizes a pattern generating method not found on any other sequencer.

The top panel of the Melody Oracle consists of six zones. Each zone is a switching matrix for generating a particular aspect of a musical pattern.

Each zone has seven downward-pointing triangular contacts, and one upward pointing contact. The outer contacts determine the frequency of on-and-off switching behavior for the zone. The central upward pointing triangle in each zone serves to invert that zone's pattern.

The upper three zones are called registers, and are used for gating the three octaves of the synthesizer.

The lower three zones are called "intervals" and are used for creating note pattern sequences. Although there are only three interval zones, they are added (in a 3-bit binary system) to create eight different notes, set via fine tuners found on the back of the unit.

Notes: One of the most unusual synths around, based on a rotating optical disc which functions as a sequencer. Program the built-in pulsewave synth engine or control other synths using the optional Wave Expander.

Taking its cosmic inspiration from star charts and ancient astrolabes, Star Song is a rotating optical disc-programmed sequencer with a built-in minimalist synthesizer.

Star Song can be used either to play its own built-in pulsewave synthesizer, or in combination with the A.M.P. electronics Wave Expander (sold separately) to drive external analogue and modular synthesizers.

How it is used

To create sequences on Star Song, the seven translucent rings (orbits) of the optical disc are marked with a marker (included) or opaque tape. The disc is removable and additional discs are sold separately, allowing for indefinite storage of your favourite sequences.

The outer six rings control the tuned note selection and note-on/off sequencing. The innermost ring controls the cut-off frequency for the built-in bandpass filter.

Disc on/off and disc direction are toggled from touch contacts on the front panel, and disc speed is controlled from the central rotary control.

Additionally, there are 1/8" inputs to control rotation speed and rotation direction with an external source.

The addition of Wave Expander makes the Star Song into an incredibly versatile Gate(6 channels) and CV (1 channel) sequencer, as well as providing the Star Song's tuned audio oscillator over five separate octave divisions (four audio and one sub-audio), 12 outputs in all to integrate into your modular system.

Multiple Star Song units can be synced by using an external clock signal, and you can even slave Star Song to your existing Melody Oracle/Wave Expander combo.
