Insecurities EP (double 12" 再出版)

  3. Insecurities (8:59)
  4. Gratitude (6:49)
  5. Yellow (6:44)
Review: Having previously only appeared on WotNot Music in the past couple of years, K15 now slides over to Wild Oats to deliver a wholly appropriate slab of fluttering house romanticism rich in Detroit dreams and Chicago cheekiness, wherever the music might have been conceived. The cheekiness is no doubt most noticeable on "GWRH" with its homage to "Gypsy Woman", turning it into a fluttering Latino house jam, but before that comes the plush bump n rub of "The Story Of Her Life". "Insecurities" gets into a sexier kind of deep house funk, which "Gratitude" dutifully carries on until "Yellow" can round the record out with some largely beatless piano business.

  1. Abu Ali (13:12)
  2. Prelude (Theme From Mais El Rim) (12:49)
Review: Wewantsounds' 2019 Record Store Day release takes us back to 1978 and a hard-to-find 12" single from Lebanese composer, pianist, playwright and political commentator Ziad Rahbani. "Abu Ali" is perhaps not Rahbani's best known work - in the Arab world his various albums are far more celebrated - but it is one that has chimed with Western audiences thanks to its assimilation of elements of American disco, soul and funk. The title track is something of a beast: a 10-minute epic that wraps Arabic orchestration, mazy horn refrains and prominent piano motifs around an atmospheric disco groove and intergalactic synthesizer lines. It's bonkers but brilliant, making this reissue more than welcome. On the flipside there's a chance to enjoy "Prelude (Theme from Mais El Rim)", an epic example of Rahbani's 1970s soundtrack work.

  4. Brenda Taylor - "You Can't Have Your Cake & Eat It Too" (Rahaan LDF remix) (8:08)
Review: In cahoots with the annual (not to mention excellent) Liverpool Disco Festival, celebrated editor and remixer Rahaan has been let loose on the West End Records catalogue. Happily, his new versions are rightfully respectful to the chosen disco and boogie classics with the Chicagoan simply adding choice effects here and there as well as some cranky old drum machine beats and occasional synthesizer flourishes. This is particularly evident on his raw but deep and slightly dubby take on Brenda Taylor's "You Can Have You Cake It Too", but also comes to the fore on the standout remix of Mahogany's spacey boogie jam "Ride on The Rhythm". String-laden disco bliss is provided via a bass-heavy re-arrangement of the Chuck Davis Orchestra's "Spirit of Sunshine", while Rahaan's Billy Nicholls rub is a high-octane, shirts-off treat.

  7. My Body (Louie Vega radio version) (3:46)
Review: Luther Vandross originally wrote and recorded "My Body" in 1979, though his version was never released; instead, the song was re-recorded by Stephanie Mills and included on her 1983 album "Merciless". Here we finally get a chance to hear Luther belt it out himself, with Masters At Work man Louie Vega providing production and a dizzying number of remixes. There are two bumpin' and life-affirming "Soul House" mixes (the second replacing Vandross' lead vocal with some mazy Rhodes solos), a fluid and positive "Remix/Synth Bass Mix" that packs plenty of dancefloor energy, and warmer "EOL Mix" and "EOL Dub" versions that utilize a warm bass guitar part and some tasty chord progressions. Throw in a couple of edits and instrumentals and you have a suitably epic set of reworks.

  5. SBTRKT - "Sleep In Tokyo"
  6. Alix Perez - "Metric"
Review: Volume Six of Tempa Allstars collects contributions from some of the underground music scene's pioneers and leading lights Skream. "Rollin' Kicks" begins the EP with a tapping drumbeat and a Breakage hued sonic palette (circa "Open Up") which is a million miles away from Magnetic Man. D&B-turned-dubstep minimalist Icicle steps up with "Anything". Crisp, acerbic breaks feature heavily, perfectly calculated beats and a futuristic touch. Falty DL adds a funky touch with "Sunday" as chirpy bleeps and bellows of bass underpin the fidgeting rhythms here, with notable sunny, upbeat vibes in the synth work. Benga injects a dose of humour with the ticking percussive lisp and robotic chant of "I Come From London" driving things along into a hypnotic state of sentiency. SBTRKTs "Sleep In Tokyo" is all broken, funked up beats, warm keys and delicately textured rhythms. Alix Perez brings the EP to a close with "Metric". Deep, atmospheric crackling, crisp SFX and rumbling subs roll along with dark menace. A superb finale to one of the finest releases in the Tempa Allstars series so far.

Review: Known most for his TC Studio work alongside Matei Tulbure, Traian Chereches has latterly taken to working in a solo capacity and demonstrated an equal degree of aplomb for unique rhythms and joyful sensations. Fans of the Romanian's work will delight in this double pack on his and Tulbure's prospering TC Studio label with the six tracks on Lobster Club really showing Chereches' full production range. Proceedings begin on an abstract note with "Wald 1975" memorable for some bold vocal sampling, though tracks such as the tumbling "A New Beat" and "Orchestra Rehearsal" will provide more than enough dancefloor satisfaction.

Review: The Busy Twist run a really interesting operation... Inspired by the UK's bass movement, the London-based producers have recorded extensively in their native Ghana, giving this a truly international tongue. A fine case in point is Drumtalk's remix of the brilliantly titled "Auntie Fatty": riddled with all manner of chopped up chants and percussion, there's a very familiar riff on the drop. "Floor Excitement" is another highlight; the vocals are reminiscent of a Wookie plate but delivered with heartwarming gusto. Technically this is an EP... But with such a bounty of tropical treats, this is almost album material.

Review: It's the big, bad Joe Claussell, and the master reigns in the new year with this absolute stunner of an EP for the Sacred Rhythm label. This is Claussell at his most daring, however, and while you might be expecting some phat-ass house beats and groovy tribalism, the man goes far left of the field on here. The opening "Dungeon Maggots" is a translucent blend of crystal synths and subtle dub echoing, while "Matter Of Factness" injects a delicate house flow into the mix, propelled into motion by a dubby guitar riff. "Affect", "Nuances", and "Seciov" all act as beatless electronic tools, a trio of synth sways to add extra effect to your DJ mix. Yes, Joe!

Review: Texan psych-funk fun time outfit Golden Dawn Arkestra get some remix treatment via this double pack from Razor-N-Tape, which leads in with Austin Ato's positively dreamy deep house version of "Children Of The Sun". JKriv takes on "Cosmic Dancer" and makes it into a slick disco-fied workout that adheres to the RNT vibe, while Dicky Trisco takes the track and makes it into a suitably interstellar strutter heavy on the synth lines. Then then the second slab of wax offers up a side each to the original versions, from the Afrobeat-indebted "Children Of The Sun" to the sweet and starry-eyed disco of "Cosmic Dancer".

The touching depths of Culture Shock's long-awaited "Piano Dark", the Noisia-level antics of Audio on his June Miller, InsideInfo's deep throat bass on "The Truth" and the add bass fluctuations on Rene's VIP. 200 singles deep and still killing it, Ram have put together a serious package here.

Review: If you are lucky enough to have visited Dusseldorf club Salon Des Amateurs, you may be familiar with one of its residents, the cultish Serbian DJ Vladimir Ivkovic whose daring sets are inspiration to another of the venue's stars in Lena Willikens. Often Music is Ivkovic's new label and their first release shines a light on the unreleased archives of pioneering Serbian electronic artist Rex Ilusivii, real name Mitar Suboti?. The Serbian artist sadly passed away in a studio fire in 1999 leaving behind a vast number of unreleased works recorded over a decade from 1980 onwards. Six of those rescued tracks feature on this double 12" release In The Moon Cage (side 4 houses an etched illustration) and the more daring selectors out there will find them quite inspirational.

Review: The combination of Richard H. Kirk and Minimal Wave was never going to disappoint, but the four tracks on this Never Lose Your Shadow 12" are still very special! Digging deep through the archives of the Cabaret Voltaire front man, Veronica Vasicka presents a quartet of solo recordings that have never been committed to wax before. The highlight is undoubtedly the A Side title track, a lolloping ten minute track of hypnotic industrial action made all the more memorable by Kirk's acerbic intonations about "the blind leading the blind". If you've caught a Vasicka DJ set recently you will have probably lost yourself to these ten minutes. On the flip are three tracks recorded in the same late '70s period which are distinctly more experimental in tone and just as vital.

Review: Active between 2006 and 2009, the Members Only series was essentially a homage to the days of Muzic Box and Ron Hardy from Jamal Moss which saw the Mathematics boss dramatically rewire everything from Loleatta Holloway to Chris & Cosey via Liaisons Dangereuses and Gil Scott Heron. The series has long been out of print, though a recent Members Only edit for the Brasserie Heroique series from Berceuse Heroique will have ignited some interest in the project amongst a new generation of collectors and selectors. This Editions Disco Vol 1 double pack should be viewed as a second chance to witness Moss doing disco edits in the manner they were originally intended. Moments of outright queasiness (the klaxon that runs throughout the Frankie Goes To Hollywood revision will really test a dancefloor's patience) sit alongside killer percussive disco cuts and wonderful oddness like the closing Banamarama edit.

Review: This is a very confident debut from previously unheralded Balearic musician Pablo Color, whose music - on this evidence, at least - is as vibrant as his musical moniker suggests. The Swiss producer begins with the warm and atmospheric "Viajando", where echo-laden electric guitar motifs rise above a gently shuffling dub disco groove. "The Sunset of Puerto Sagunto" sees him sliding into Jonny Nash style ambient territory, while "The Guitar & The Sea" is a crackling, intoxicating, bongo-driven weird-out that sounds like an unlikely hook up between Black Merlin and Mudd. The EP is completed by a fantastic deep space dub of "Viajando" by Kejeblos (with support from Lexx on keyboards). Impressive stuff, all told.

  4. Sewavi Jacintho - "Miade Dua" (5:35)
Review: Hot Casa's latest must-have release is a veritable smorgasbord of Togolese treats. It focuses specifically on obscure soul music made in Togo in the 1970s, with two hard-to-find original cuts being joined by two contemporary re-edits of similarly obscure classics. The EP opens with Bosq's smooth, dancefloor-focused tweal of Yta Jourias's breezy, horn-heavy tropical soul workout "Adome Nyueto", before Pushin Wood takes over and adds a little contemporary electronic bounce - and some particularly colourful synths - to Roger Damawuzan's "Loxo Nye". Over on side B, Napo De Mi Amor's "Cacatchoule Berceuse Bassari" is a fuzzy soul shuffler rich in bright, Juju style guitar solos, hazy vocals and Hammond organ stabs, while Sewavi Jacintho's "Miade Dua" is a sweatier and heavier concoction powered by loose-limbed drumming and sun-kissed instrumentation.

After six successful albums throughout the 80's before disbanding and making a brief return in 2010, the group's new single "Hit Or Miss" will appear on their first album in 38 years: Love 4 Love which is produced by Change alumni Davide Romani Mauro Malavasi, it's got the same kind of life-affirming soul power you've come to love from the outfit, and they've still got the knack for a great tune - listen for yourself!

  3. Frogs
  4. Surpass
Review: Despite some FXHE releases containing playful artistic references to the films that undoubtedly referenced the titles, this Romancing The Stone double pack from Omar S is sadly lacking in any MS Paint renditions of the Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner 90s vehicle of the same name. It does however contain four more fine examples of the fact no one does it quite like Omar S. Lead track "Leave" sets the tone, as ripples of percussion emerge from a pool of simmering sonic emotion and embarks on a masterclass in slow build dancefloor revelation at breakneck pace. "Romancing The Stone" pulls from the same palette of anthemic Omar S productions as "Here's Your Trance, Now Dance" and "Psychotic Photosynthesis" as a lead array of synths, keys and chords weave with supple grace over crunchy drums - watch out for the track finishing abruptly. On the second 12", "Frogs" dovetails from a simple disco guitar loop into fucked up abstract acid techno territory with little prior warning whilst "Surpass" finds AOS ending with some anthemic maximal piano house.

Review: In 2016, Family Groove Records released a 12" of previously unheard 1979 demo recordings by Webster Station, a boogie-funk band from Dayton, Ohio whose studio efforts were initially binned by Warner Brothers for not being commercial enough. Demand for Family Groove's limited 12" of their recordings has remained high, so the label has decided to do a reissue. There's much to admire throughout, from the high-octane thrills of opener "Are You For Real" and the spacey warmth of the super-soulful "Can You Feel My Love", to the sugary sweetness of the Latin tinged ballad "Lady" and righteous closer "If You Feel Like Dancing", a killer combination of spacey synths, crunchy drums, urgent vocals and killer Clavinet lines.

Review: Matthew Weiner is TWINS, an acronym for That Which Is Not Said. The Atlanta based producer has had several cassette releases on his own DKA and CGI Records in addition to appearing for Glasgow's Clan Destine and London based Crimes Of The Future. The Rather Not LP for Dutch label Enfant Terrible sees Weiner throw down some convincingly '80s sounding alternative synth music, such as on tracks like "Leader's Choice" which is reminiscent of Geography era Front 242 or "I'm Not The Same" channelling Gary Numan circa The Pleasure Principle. A must have for retroverts, this great album that pushes the same territory as fellow North American analogue synth heads like Beau Wanzer, White Car or Streetwalker.

Regarding the dynamic pace of the music industry, he asks the question, what's real anymore? For him, it comes down to the feelings this music evokes. Review: BOOM! Our favourites, Cititrax, roll the third editions of Tracks out onto our shelves, and the results are unsurprisingly strong on this excellent various artists comp. It's a mixed bag of skills, as per usual, and the sounds are those of a new NYC, fuelled by a new sort of post-industrial sensibility. Amato Y Mariana open with the tight beats and groove of "Queires Bailar", followed closely by the ominous compositions of the EBM-flavoured "Montgat" from The Sixteen Steps. On the flip, His Dirty Secrets bleeps out some morphed acid on "Structures", and "Another Stranger" from Further Reductions churns out a slow, mild-mannered house experiment with its roots clearly planted in the coldest of waves. Sick.

The band have enjoyed a huge amount of success since their eponymous debut album dropped in 2009, and Coexist sees them subtly tweak their sound rather than wholly reinvent it, with their booming drums traded in for something less grandiose. There are some stunning moments on the LP (opener "Angels", "Reunion" and "Swept Away" all linger long in the memory) that will ensure it swats any "difficult second album" talk to one side; this is the sound of a band comfortable in their own skin. Caps doffed to Young Turks who present the LP on sumptuous heavyweight vinyl with included CD and booklet.

Two decades later it stands as an eerily prescient glimpe into the technological alienation and dislocation of of a new era. Yet more importantly, OK Computer is no more or less than a sparkling, dramatic and moving collection of songs that haven't lost any of their impact in the interim. The sound of a band stubbornly refusing to follow up the stadium-strafing stylings of its predecessor The Bends - and instead bursting headlong into experimentation and wild creativity -is portrayed in still more vivid colours by the alarmingly strong collection of out-takes and B-sides collected herein, Yet there's no getting away from the chill and spark that marked out OK Computer from everything surrounding it in the post-Britpop malaise, and continues to do so in the pre-Brexit counterpart.

Review: Since slipping out in 1983, Midori Takada's debut album, Through The Looking Glass, has become something of a sought-after item amongst ambient enthusiasts (with hugely inflated online prices to match). Happily, Palto Flats has decided to reissue it, allowing those without overblown record buying budgets to wallow in its gentle, humid majesty. Remarkably, Takada not only composed and produced it, but also played every instrument, including marimbas, recorder, vibraphone, harmonium, and all manner of things you can hit and shake. The resulting tracks remain hugely beguiling, sitting somewhere between a dreamy take on traditional Japanese music, the classic ambient albums of Brian Eno, and the gentle, sweat-soaked explorations of The Chi Factory.

Review: A welcomed heavyweight vinyl reissue of 1994 GRAMMY award winning album from two of the 20th century's most inspirational, creative bluesmen from two wholly contrasting sides of the world: Ali Farka and Ry Cooder. Most of Talking Timbuktu kicks its feet in the dusty plains of Mali with traditional instrumentation and time signatures before dropping into occasional splashes of soul surging blues such as the fiddle-like picking of "Ai Du" and the foot-stamping yearns of "Amandrai". A timeless meeting of two amazing minds that will never happen again, this should be reissued every 20 years by law to ensure future generations are aware this happened.

Perfect summer time fodder, or indeed any time of year when you want to feel some warmth inside, this 30-strong concoction of red-blooded Latin rhythm is the ideal entry point into Columbian music. From the epic vibrancy of Los Immortales' "La Piragua" to the more sentimental sounds of Los Corraleros De Majagual's "Llora Acordeon" to the absolute chaos of Los Guacharacos's "Baila Rosita" is a beautiful balance of education and entertainment.

From the hip-hop style chants and processed vocals of "Masobele" to the punk-like fury and frenzy of "Nganshe" via the soft, yearning bluegrass slides and soul of "Coco Blues", From Kinshasa fuses, amuses and at points confuses. Most importantly it keeps you coming back for more. Genuinely an album like no other.

Review: First released way back in 1992, Radio Tarifa's debut album "Rumba Argelina" has long been considered something of a global fusion classic. Reissued here on vinyl for the very first time - weirdly, it has only ever been available on CD in the past - the album has lost none of its charms. It's naturally rooted in various strains of traditional Spanish music - flamenco, Andalucian folk music and so on - but also incorporates musical elements from North African and Arabic music, with occasional nods towards tango and such obscure (but surprisingly enjoyable) styles as German medieval music.

Review: Cuba's Orland Cachaito Lopez, who sadly passed away back in '09, had only released his first LP under his name in 2001. World Circuit was the imprint to bring the man to the foray, and here they are once again with this marvelously packaged reissue. Solid and guaranteed to please. Needless to say, this album is full of Havana's magic vibe, rocking some pretty full-proof rhythms with a swing and a charm that can only be found on the Caribbean island. But, it's not simply Lopez's Cuban heritage which makes it stand out; rather, there is just the right balance of motion between dance and form, making this album a sure stand-out to anyone remotely interested in anything 'jazz'. Lovely stuff.

Review: J walking is illegal in some countries and US states... Mercifully it's not in the UK. Which is great news for all fuzzy funk, future retro and psychedelic jazz fans. A long awaited return to the album format, J Walk lays down a diverse-but-consistent collection of instrumentals that capture the most imaginative fusion of rich melodies, analogue instruments and cosmic motifs. The bluesy space-age flurries of "World Inaction", the upbeat Italo-punk frenetic fire of "Electric Dancing Song", the liquid twangs and shimmers of "Mexicali Hoodoo", the trembling Theremin backbone of "Yesterday's Crowd"... Everything J Walk has conjured here will resonate with every possible reference in your musical library. An illegally good listen.

Review: Yeah yeah, Cleveland rocks, and of late it's Ohio's Cloud Nothings that, alongside Bone Thugs & Harmony and Nine Inch Nails, are keeping the city on the map as somewhere that still has something in the water. This latest album sees the group elevated to a release on Wichita - think Bloc Party, The Crips and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah among others - and it's the 11-minute "Dissolution", the freeform centerpiece of this album that really impresses. It's a short cry from the experimental rock of At The Drive In/Mars Volta while more emotional numbers like "The Echo Of The World" and "Another Way Of Life" bring to mind bands like Alexisonfire, Thrice and Sparta. If you like your punk with touch of Pennywise and Rancid too, Cloud Nothings set the tone.

Review: Having taken time out to deliver a range of home listening releases under the Road Hog alias, Galcher Lustwerk is back to doing what he does best: lo-fi deep house workouts with plenty of added fuzz. Dark Bliss is, of course, his debut album, and happily it's a rather strong collection of cuts that's arguably more aurally attractive than many of his releases. Highlights include the lo-fi Balearic deep house warmth of "What U Want Me To Do" (which, intriguingly, features his own Mr V style half-spoken, half-sung vocals), the chunky-but-dreamy dub house positivity of "Yeeno", the spacey synths and bustling drum machine beats of alien-sounding workout "Lithuanian Water" and the subtle ghetto-house and Seven Davis Jr influences of glassy-eyed peak-time treat "Red Rose".

Review: With the addition of Sally Pilkington to Hen Ogledd, the band - now three albums young - go from trio to quartet. Hen Ogledd (or 'The Old North' in Welsh) this time around transgress from their acoustic origins and sound heard more-so on Bronze from 2016 to now flirting and experimenting with an electronic tip (nerds may spot that space echo delay) with high and hollering vocal performances still standing out in their indie, synth pop style. Find some Welsh poetry and spoken word on "Gwae Reged o Heddiw" and "Transport & Travel", while elsewhere "Sky Burial" hits those melancholic sweet spots, and it's as if Enya inspirations are in there somewhere. A patchwork of witty, evoquial, sweet intelligence.

Review: Malian musicians have a rich history when it comes to turning the world on to organic, mystifying, exotic sounds. A country that - even for Africa - stands out as a hotbed of aural talent, artists hailing from the desert nation never fail to immerse and intoxicate us. Here tracks grow and groove like a hypnotist at work, embracing Western influences, not least psychedelic rock, to produce what might have happened if Jim Morrison went walkabout in the Sahara looking for inspiration. As an album, "Amadjar" is everything that description might make you hope for. Opening on the delicate, spatial guitar plucks of "Tenere Maloulat", you can see the oasis shimmering in the distance through heat vapour. Evocative stuff, from there it only pulls us in deeper into an amalgamation of sounds overflowing with an adventurous atmosphere.

Without wanting to preach to the choir but everything about this body of work remains ahead of its time and on its own. From those opening robotic purrs and mechanical breaks to those final tubular space echoes on "Rsdio", the whole album still sucks you in with such alien, otherworldly allure. How they made those sounds and arranged them in such a way with the technology at the time blew minds back then and blows even more in hindsight. A serious document.

A lot has happened in the world of Hud Mo in the six 6 years since his Warp issued debut set Butter (hello Kanye) and the 14 track Lanterns comes across as a more compelling and adventurous album from the Scottish producer. Featuring some interesting guest appearances (Anthony Hegarty, Irfane, Miguel, Ruckazoid, Jhene Aiko) it's clear Lanterns is being presented as a chance for Birchard to reach the next level, and packs in a whole load of musical ideas along the way.

Review: It's hard to over-emphasize the impact made by Autechre's debut album, Incunabla, on its initial release back in 1993. While they'd ruffled a few feathers already with their 1991 debut 12" - an explosion of off-kilter hardcore and techno - the album was an altogether different beast: a collection of timeless "intelligent dance music" numbers that skillfully fused far-sighted, Motor City electronics, teak-tough drums, metallic percussion hits, spacey ambience, and the kind of intense, off-kilter computer rhythms that would later become their trademark. Should you need persuading of its enduring brilliance, check out the feral thrust of "Basscadet", the bubbly, intergalactic hum of "Windwind", and the icy snap of "Autriche".

Review: We've had more Neil Young compilations thrown our way over the years than many of us care to remember, but only one really sticks in the mind, and it's this one. Originally released in 1977 and chronicling the period in which Young went from being a simple member of Buffalo Springfield to one of the most heralded North American songwriters of the late century, and comprising work from that band alongside Crosby Stills Nash and Young, it's studded with delights aplenty. From the extended guitar sprawl of 'Down By The Ocean' and 'Cortez The Killer' to poignant balladry like 'After The Goldrush' and 'Helpless', no-one captured the dreams and hopes of the hippie generation in quite the way Young did, and this collection is a magnificent testimony to his most fertile and heartwarming era.

Review: For all of his undoubted musical genius, many of Prince's albums could be a little hit-and-miss. That's not an accusation that could be hurled at Sign O' The Times, which remains one of the Purple One's most potent collections of songs. As this vinyl reissue proves, the 1987 set still sounds every bit as good as it did all those years ago. While there are plenty of well-known hits - the peerless social commentary of 'Sign O' The Times', the sexual thrust of 'Hot Thing', the gnarly dancefloor funk of 'You Got The Look', and so on - the album's lesser-known moments, from the rockin' strut of "Play In The Sunshine", to the heartfelt, stripped-back "The Cross", are equally as inspired. File under "essential listening".

Review: Since debuting as Grouper back in 2005, Liz Harris has delivered a swathe of experimentalist albums that explore almost every aspect of ambient and drone music. Here she launches a new project, Nivhek, via an expansive double-album of sparse, atmospheric compositions that tend towards the epic. Really, it's two albums in one. The first slab of wax is entitled "After Its Own Death" and boasts a two-part, non-stop suite of tracks built around echoing choral vocals, dark electronics and blissful bells. It's alternately melancholic, blissful and grippingly intense. In contrast, "Walking In A Spiral Towards The House", the piece stretched across both sides of the second record, is breathtakingly beautiful - a meandering, soft focus trip through chiming, reverb-laden motifs and gentle music box melodies.

Review: It's cult records and mythical artists like this that record collectors fawn over for years. Well this particular wait is now over as for the first time ever on vinyl you can now own two super rare 1980-82 tapes by Two Daughters. They were a mysterious pair affiliated with Throbbing Gristle and recorded all sorts of dark and haunting noise in Brixton for Nurse With Wound's United Dairies. This session is as freaky as they come, with muffled voices appearing out of the noise like apparitions. Hypnotic and daunting, droning and bleakly mesmeric, this music sounds to us like the shadowy corridors of an old lunatic asylum in the dead of a winter's night.

Review: Considered by many to be one of the best live albums of all time, 'At Fillmore East' the classic album by the Allman Brothers, recorded at the
pinnacle of their success, was a huge hit for the band. In 1971 the Allman Brothers were already one of the most popular groups in America,
but by the time this album hit the streets their brand of Southern rock had become a national obsession. One of Rolling Stones' '500 greatest
albums of all time', it was the band's last with guitar hero Duane Allman who was killed in a motorcycle accident later that year.

Review: The Brazilian band Trio Mocoto were formed in 1968 in Sao Paulo and reformed in 2000. The group was seminal and often credited in creating the musical style that became known as samba rock or samba soul. The trio are comprised of Joao Parahyba, a vocalist and drummer who worked with the late great Suba, in conjunction with the vocalists/percussionists Nereu Gargalo and Skowa. Their second self titled album was released originally in 1973 on RGE Discos but receives a much needed reissue now on International and features funk, soul, bossa nova and samba styles all mixed beautifully with a distinct Brazilian style. Highly recommended listening.
