I Got To Know

Minimal House/Tech House
I Got To Know
I Got To Know (Alden Tyrell remix)
I Got To Know (Dick Johnson remix)
Review: After their last outing 'Atomic' sold out, Acid Jerks are back on Refuge with more of their 303 fuelled madness. They have a tried and tested sound by now but who will ever grow tired of ragged acid house? 'I Get To Know' has it all - the prickly acid squelch, the splintered and wooden drums and the dark and menacing vocal over the top. It's perfect warehouse music. Dutchman Alden Tyrell then roughs it up a little more with his Chicago-indebted remix and Dick Johnson adds a little bounce to the drums and layers in some slinky hi hats for a more undulating sound.

Ubiquity (3:29)
Ubiquity (The Magician remix) (4:19)
Ubiquity (Eric Duncan remix) (8:11)
Ubiquity (Lubelski remix) (6:02)
Review: 'Ubiquity' really is an all-star affair, at least by nu-disco standards. It started out as a revivalist, boogie-era disco groove crafted by Nicky Night Time, which was then tweaked and turned into a vocal number, before Breakbot added some killer string and horn arrangements. The results are spellbinding, all told, coming on like a future disco classic full of addictive vocals, colourful synths and authentic turn-of-the-80s instrumentation. The superb original mix comes with a trio of re-rubs: a loopy disco-house revision from The Magician, a more cosmic and spaced-out revision from Eric Duncan that recalls some of his work as Still Going, and a Metro Area-influenced re-wire courtesy of Lubelski.

Zarenzeit - "Zahara" (4:05)
Jank - "What Becomes Of" (6:48)
Jan Kincl - "3300 Gratiot Ave" (feat Ishfaq & Wolford Heifer) (8:04)
Review: Global Essence Sampler is a new series from Deep Inspiration Show Records that calls upon a fine roster of international producer talent to serve up one track each and reflect on what deep house is today. For Allstarr Motomusic the answer is smooth and cruising house grooves with elastic basslines and distant vocal wails. Barce explores classic Larry Heard-style cosmic melodic territory with plenty of star-gazing potential, and Zarenzeit's 'Zahara' is another one that floats amongst the stars with lush ambient pads. Jank offers a more dusty, rhythmic house sound for cosy backroom parties, and then come the jazzy melodies and soulful bass noodling of Jan Kincl's '3300 Gratiot Ave.' Magic stuff.

LCP - "Off Limits" (5:22)
Books - "Cosine" (4:57)
Review: Fresh off the back of Cryptographic's intense 'Echo' release comes this fitting V/A from the ever-intriguing Swiss experimental 170 label Re:st. Music to realign our Covid-ravaged chakras to 'Re:align' introduces three new names to the label; Alternate Current steams out of the gates with a dub techno juggernaut 'Borrowed Language' while Dreadmaul & Tobe:n whip a rhythmic stampede that's screaming to be unleashed on a big system with 'Homunculus'. Flip for two slightly more cosmic tales as label founder LCP gently pats us down with the trickling lolloping loops of 'Off Limits' before Books signs us out with the sparse and skippy 'Cosine'. Refine your alignments.

Silent Servant - "Manic" (4:56)
Unhuman & Vulkanski - "Mescaline Network" (6:05)
Review: Khidi rolls out another anniversary EP here and it is another various artists affair that takes no prisoners. On their opener, Ancient Methods & OTHR bring some hellish metal and industrial overtones to the stomping, vicious 'Vast Vanishing' with its horror-core vocals. Roman & Boyd Chidt don't let up but offer a more linear and streamlined bit of stomping techno pressure. Silent Servant unleashes lashings of metallic synths over his signature tech sounds and then the floating loops of Unhuman & Vulkanski suspend you just above a rusty old factory floor.

Review: On the Love Affair EP, Geneva-based producers Androo & Bony Fly have composed six tracks that strike the balance between sound experimentation and dancefloor orientation. The results of their research stemmed from a shared passion for dub, dancehall and its infinite variations, combined with a particular attention to subtle and harmonious sound textures. From the glacial and cavernous delay exercises so gloriously displayed on 'Xoxo Dub', to the deeply meditative tribal rhythms of 'Dancehall Science' (interlude mix) to the off-kilter club bounce of 'As A Sign" and ending with the lo-fi riddims of 'Classic (Beaucoup) Trop Classic' (radio dub mix). A solid effort.

B22 - "Make You Free" (5:21)
Review: Cologne label Mephis/Monevido continues to be pushing some of the freshest acid and tech house around as they welcome Artesano Titer and B22 for a split 12" of dazzling late night sonics. Titer's 'Free Fall From Space' is an expert exercise in layered up 303 snake charming, while 'An Unexpected Arrival' locks into a lowdown groove with brain-tweaking modulation running up top. B22 kick off the B-side with a bleep-informed dose of acid from the dark side and some downright nasty groove action kicking off on 'Make You Free', with an instantly recognisable sample from an LFO classic thrown in for good measure.

Cat: NP 32. Rel: 13 Sep 21

Funk/Reissues
Count On Me (3:41)
Magic (3:35)
Review: Although operative in the early 1980s, the quality of B & The Family's boogie-era soul recordings only became evident five years ago when the Super Disco Edits label unearthed and issued a couple of their previously unreleased recordings. These two never-before-released jams come from the same period. A-side 'Count on Me' is simply superb: a squelchy and soulful electrofunk number of the kind that were frequently released in the early '80s by the Solar System and Salsoul labels. Flipside 'Magic' is a little fuzzier and hazier - in part because it was probably transferred from a partially damaged tape - but no less impressive, delivering an attractive blend of dewy-eyed male lead vocals, elastic slap bass, colourful synthesizer sounds and dreamy chords.

BSMH (Z@P Sonic Re-Interpretation)
Review: This new and unique one-sided 10" is a companion to the PMA EP by B-2DEP'T released on this Saisei label earlier in the year. It's as raw and frazzled as electro gets frankly, with B-2DEP'T heading off to the depths of the galaxy where snappy snares ride on crispy drum breaks. There are occult-like synth lines weaving their way in and out and a dark filtered vocal bring the menace and paranoid energy that keeps this one so enthralling. It's the second vital offering from this artist this year.

BSMH (Armed Plasteel part 2) (5:41)
Review: B 2DEP'T were a curio of the early wave of techno in Japan in the 90s, releasing a handful of cassettes and mini-albums but remaining a cult concern rather than breaking through to major success. For those in the know, their productions were way ahead of their time, and Junki Inoue seems absolutely hip to this as he signs them up for a release on his archival label Saisei. If you enjoy the boundaryless exploration of the early techno boom and prefer brightly melodic motifs to match, you'll love this record. It's brimming with oddball personality and it's more than punchy enough to cut it with modern club fare.

Review: Chinese artist B Al makes her debut on Pleasure Club with a master-crafted EP of melodic techno, heavy on the production sheen as they come. B Al's classic musical training is evident here and her deft contrasting of melodic house, dreamatics and electro make for a stupefying concoction to say the least. For those who'd like to shed a tear or two this week, we'd recommend 'No End' as our highlight, not least for its slow-droning strings and ultimate feel.

Review: B Edits is a new imprint dedicated to updating, reworking, and fleshing out classic disco jams that lack that little something when it comes to being deployed on modern dancefloors. It kicks off with an in-house producer or production outfit offer up two such tunes on a limited 12". 'Give It' is a super sumptuous deep house sound for late night lovers with the voice of the one and only Sade singing about surrendering your love. It's irresistibly steamy and sax-laced. On the flip, 'Hold It' is a little more upright but with a disco vocal that is just as buttery smooth.

Review: B From E is an artist on the rise, and it's time you locked in for the ride. He is a DJ and producer from Denmark and Mexico who heads up the Buddahood and currently lives in Copenhagen where he is cooking up some superb jams. This new EP comes on nascent label BSP Bispebjeg and really shows what he can do. 'Dreamcore' is uptempo house doused in trance chords. 'This Is My House' is indeed house but riddled with conversational synth lines and jacked up with silvery percussion and then 'Trancois' on the flip gets deep but in a punchy and decisive fashion before a jungle thriller closes out. Fans of Danish producers like Central will lap this one up.

Review: Fresh deep garage house stylings from B From E, who's able to demonstrate they know how to do it just right. The Danish producer/DJ is evidently a treasured fixture of their label Happiness Therapy, who specialise in this kind of stuff, but rarely find so much talent or passion for the styles condensed into a single six-tracker. Topping up the label's 'Just At Night' series, cuts like 'Nirvana' and Niles Cooper's remix of 'Just At Night' and are shuffly piano-housers on the emotive side, recalling the tearjerking and dub-dued feelings of early house artists like the Wamdue Kids, but with an arguably much defter 4x4-garage flair.

No Promises (Disco version) (6:46)
Review: Best Records do it again, dusting down a searing slice of robo-funk from the early 80s that will pop your lock every which way. B Funk was a one-off project from Mario Boncaldo and Tony Carrasco, best known for their incredible work as Klein & MBO. They released the "Magic Spell" album in 1983, and it was loaded with richly produced Italo disco and proto house sounds - there's a good reason the original release has been fetching such crazy prices on the second hand market. Now Best have cherry picked two of the finest cuts from the album, sought out the extended disco versions from Carrasco's vaults, and given them a glorious new pressing.

Review: Party starting outfit Bizarre is back with another offering of leftfield club cuts. The A-side of this one has been carefully curated by founding members Felon5 & B.Love. Their cosmic house excursion starts with the playful robot funk of 'The Talkbox Track' and then takes in the silky space tech of 'M Is For Muff' which is effortlessly cool. Jhobei & Oliver R then step up with 'What's On Then' which is another mix of warped bass and neon synth lines over popping tech funk and then Love & Charleze conspire to send you home on a nice warm hearted disco tech vibe with their 'IC3D' featuring some super synth expressions.

Review: Picnic tends towards flaunting the eclecticism of the British underground, standing in stark opposition to conformity. B Love, Rokko, Mathijs Smit and Herra come through for their latest V/A here, each with their own unique style and flavour to the four-way table - whether they work in deep house, techno, or the cheekier side of speed-garage-ambient. B Beat Classic (instrumental) (5:52)
Review: B+'s B-Beat Classic is originally from 1983. It is an early hip-hop and electronic fusion with some great talk-box vocals and a loose-limbed mix of percussion and drums. It moves slowly and purposefully, with scratches over the top and unhinged funk soon permeating your body. Leftover tape was used to create the effects and original copies have a note that the tune was dedicated to a first generation Boston disco DJ named Jim Stuard whose career was cut short by the Everard Baths fire in New York City in 1977.

Extent (4:38)
Review: Earlier in the year, Babe Roots broke free of their hypnotic dub techno roots and delivered an ambient dub-influenced re-make of Earl Gateshead's "I Come From Gateshead". Here the Turn-based crew continues to blur the boundaries between dub techno, ambient dub and digi-dub via a first appearance on nascent Japanese label Newdubhall. Baba Ras lends a hand on fabulous A-side "State of Mind", delivering hybrid spoken and sung vocals atop a deliciously spaced-out dub rhythm that owes much to the work of Basic Channel. Even deeper and more alluring is flipside "Extent", an exemplary ambient dub excursion rich in bluesy trumpet solos, pulsing sub-bass and drifting, ultra-spacey chords.

Word For Word (4:16)
Review: Legendary minimal - and acid house before that - pioneer Baby Ford very much set the blueprint for the genre back in the late 90s, both solo and with The Ifach Collective, who featured Ian Loveday, Mark Broom and Thomas Melchior (amongst others). Now they are reminding us of the greatness of that work with the first in a series of reissues coming in 2023. These tunes were originally put out back on the legendary Klang Elektronik in 2000. First up is 'Tea Party' by Eon, M-Core, and Baby Ford, an ice-cold rolling dub. 'On The Floor' with Mark Broom gets more percussive and then comes a solo cut from Baby Ford, 'The Healing' which is as heady as can be and finally 'Word For Word' featuring Cheru Amadi layers up slithers of silvery percussion and cuddly bass into dubbed-out tech heaven.

The only solo 45s he cut for Curtom Records before he passed away aged only 26, this was released posthumously and OG copies regularly go for over 200 pounds. Now reissued on Soul Brother, the two sides give you the full fat Huey; "Hard Times" hits with a raw Lee Fields style gravelly, story-telling delivery while "Listen To Me" shows Huey's deft ability to band-lead an all-out rock jam. Raw and emotional, Huey left this world far too soon.

Tantra Motion - "To U" (6:29)
Review: Tel-Aviv-based label Tofistock helped shape out their sound with the first volume of Hyper Love in 2021, and now they return with another round of fun and feisty club tracks which speak to the Israeli love affair with psy-trance while offering a modern context for the sound. Babylon X takes a richly melodic approach which fuses big synth pads and sweet 303 lines with a smart, pulsing drop for a proper gear shift when you want to lock a crowd in even deeper. Asphalt DJ & Gzardin have a whale of a time with the punchy, pumping pressure of 'Sweaty Ride' while MYKI & Matris keep it turned up to the peak time with a catchy, vocal-speckled workout. For our ears though you need to make sure you check Tantra Motion's dreamy 'To U', which tips over towards heady machine soul for the subtler corners of a set.

Review: The Bacao Rhythm and Steel Band are one of the curious outfits who sound as if they're right out of the '70s, when in fact they are happily playing on their instruments in 2016, and making some serious burners. Their zesty ad energetic blend of horns, steel pan and live drums is the sort of African funk for those looking for some fresh and innovative rhythms in this day and age, with "Love Like This" providing exactly that - a bass-heavy, tripped-out kinda groove that spits quality from all angles. On the flip of this tidy 7", Cat Stevens classic "Was Dog A Doughnut" is taken on a more tropical flex, stripping down the groove and laying out one hell of a steel-pan concoction. Bless.

This new EP is another standout in that mood with Chicago original Bernard Badie behind the beats. It's a fiery one to start thanks tot he yelping female vocals that busy out of the mid tempo house drums. After that party-starting opening gambit comes the more wonky 'Bounce' with its tanging sound effects and taught bass. 'This Track' explores a slightly garage-tinged sound with scraping hits and swinging drums and last of all is 'Open Up' which is a heads down gem for the afters.

Firma Grande kicks off with four cuts that will remind those who remember of the early works of Matthew Herbert. The grooves are assembled from all manner of sound sources and have a distantly electric edge, with twanging hits and slapping drum funk overlaid with off-beat melodies. 'World Cup' is first and is a hiccuping beat to keep you locked in while 'Secret Garden' has a bright melodic soul and 'Trophy Life' is clipped tech house with cosmic future melodies and 'Tanja Track' is a super tight and slick, fleshy and heartfelt tech house groove like no other.

Review: There's an abundance of crafty, ear-snagging gear coming out on Telomere Plastic these days and the steady stream of VA releases are a handy window into some of the freshest operators in the more creative ends of minimal tech house. Baenglund is having a jolly time of it tweaking out the freaky synth riffs on 'Funk Inspector', while Aspetuck creates a teasing, strung-out after hours sound which tips towards electronica on 'As The Fog Rolls In'. Review: One of Denmark's key figures in electronic music and club culture since the 80s, Bager's been whittling the cosmic stick before many of us were out of short trousers. His collections and connections allow him to create and curate some seriously distinctive and unique mixes and collections. Case in point: his recent Sunset Sessions mix. Far too good to just live online, he's created a series of highly limited 12"s featuring numerous mix highlights. Part one includes the Mr Fingers style soul of Bell Tower's Pet Shop Boys tribute, the Gainsbourg-esque whispers of Mathieu Boogaerts and the deep dream samba of Bongo Ent. If you've heard the mix, you'll already know how beautiful these tracks are. Grab them while they're hot.

Review: Over the last few years, Kris Baha's releases have become progressively more bleak and concrete-clad in tone. It's little surprise, then, to find that he's used this EP for She Lost Kontrol to give a decidedly 21st century spin on the Cold War era sounds of cold wave, industrial and EBM. There's much to enjoy from start to finish. Check, for example, the stylish spoken word vocals, alien synthesizer melodies and sleazy arpeggio style bass of "In Your Arms", the dirty, Nitzer Ebb style EBM sweatiness of "Revolting", the slow-motion dirtiness of industrial funk bubbler "Black Rose" and the guitar-driven post-punk goodness of "Jonathan", which sounds a little like a heartfelt tribute to Robert Smith and the Cure.

Review: To our ears, Kris Baha's debut album, Palais, was one of the most underrated sets of 2019. This follow-up EP on his own Powerhouse label explores similar sonic territory, joining the dots between the clanking but funky mid-80s work of Cabaret Voltaire, the surging EBM heaviness of Nitzer Ebb and the more chugging, hallucinatory end of the retro-futurist electronic music spectrum. Highlights are plentiful, from the sharp, rising and falling lead lines and stuttering machine drums of opener 'Behave', to the bubbly, mind-altering drug-chug of closing cut 'Isolation', via two superb slabs pf muscular EBM headiness, 'Starts to Fall' and 'Struck'.

Review: If you go to the sort of quality dances where you might hear old sound disco then there is a good chance you will have lost your shit to this one at some point the past. It is a disco gospel 12" curated and edited by Chicago pair Sadar Bahar and Marc Davis. First, they up the energy levels on the joyous Fountain Of Life Joy Choir Under The Direction Of Kevin Yancy tune 'I'm So Happy' which is high speed, high spirit and life-affirming goodness. Then they tweak Rev Charles H Nicks Presents The Baptist Assembly Of Free Spirit Mass Choir's 'Optical Illusion' with swirling big band energy and magnificent organ chords.

Review: This glorious package of remixes of the BaianaSystem band draws together contemporary Brazilian sounds with plenty of modern dance floor flourishes. A?gua is the standout track from their 2018 LP and is a poem to the bands native Bahia people with the legendary Antonio Carlos & Jocafi. It is perfect material to rework for different settings and deep house don Jimpster does that with his fat bottomed, tropical remix then stripped back dub. Brazilian producer Diogo Strausz joins forces with RNT boss JKriv on the flip for a more drawn out and cosmic exploration that pumps up and down on weight bass and that lovely loose jumble of percussion.

Review: Marco Bailey continues to re-establish himself in a whole new musical world well away from his glossy main room past with this new EP on Watergate. He has previously teased this new sound on labels like Christian Smith's Tronic but here goes fully into a new sound world. 'The Spirit' is edgy, scintillating techno with big melodies, while 'From My Mind' is a jacked up and cosmic broken beat sound with some great vocoder vocals and fizzing synths. 'Pulse' gets more dark and dense and then Extrawelt and Biesmans add their own remixes to 'From My Mind' that offer very different takes.

Review: Marco Bailey and Sigvard's serve up some certified techno gold here on nice clear red vinyl via the Fundaments label. This collaborative EP opens up with the retro-sounding goodness of 'Faded Game' and its marching bottom end. It's an all-out raver that never quits. 'Live For Yesterday' is deeper, with a more nuanced atmosphere and layers of drums and synth that rise up though the mix. 'Smooth Mind' ups the ante with more loopy and strobe-lit synth energy and 'Out Of The Past' closes with more buffed metal loops and rolling drum machine sounds.

Review: Paul Bailey, known as Damage, proffers his sonic take on the concept of what damage is and could sound like in the abstract. Like a giant piston hurtling at us, and repeatedly crushing us from above, we're thrown menacingly into the sniffly wiggles of 'Hadal Zone' and the reinterpretive work of the likes of James Ruskin and Makaton. It's a worthy addition to the Brummy techno canon, and should be noted for its unique wonk-tech veer.

Review: Josh Baker has been busy over the past four years or so, dropping minimal tech house heat on the likes of Dighop, Constant Sound and Automatic Writing while nurturing his own You & Me label. It's there he returns to with the surefooted Technical Itch EP, leaning in on some Nu Groove stylings for the crafty, bassweight thump of the title track and the deadly, catchy acid trickster 'Information Overload'. 'Just Act Normal' has fun turning up the 90s heat with a few subtly trance-y elements sneaking into the mix, and 'H' keeps things deep and dirty with some killer DX7 organ lines making sure you know where the influences come from.

Review: Josh Baker has made himself one of the most prominent names in the house scene over recent years. He got some serious production chops and shows that off again here with a new EP for You & Me. 'Work It Out' is a slick and compelling mix of woodpecker-like bass rumbles, smooth-cruising snares and electronic drums with subtle vocals up top. 'Pardy Hardy' is more wonky, with acid flashes and sci-fi motifs over a more grinding groove. 'Counter House' shuts down with another fat house sound that cannot fail to get the floor going off.

Review: Time Is Now operates at the darker end of the garage spectrum, with menacing 2sep sounds and plenty of hefty bass sounds. Stepping up and stepping in with the latest offering is Bakey, a newly emergent artist in this genre and someone with considerable skill. 'Bring It Back' is a real bass bin botherer with rinsing jungle breaks and screw-face bass. 'Vibing Season' cuts loose on lithe bass with some hard bars from Slay then 'No Name' explores a silky soul on bumping beats. 'Reduced Vision' is a sublime glitch-step and 'Poison Dart' comes on heavy with the hyper minimalist jungle riddims.

Review: We're still dusting ourselves down from the thorough seeing-to Bakked gave us with the Jungle Generation EP on Outcast Planet, and yet here he is again with this muscular thumper on his own Outban imprint. 'Immersion' leads the charge with a nasty lead synth hook and some robotic female vox to give you a little taste of cyberpunk eroticism - just the ticket to get the party juiced up good n' proper. Things edge closer to noirish electroclash on 'Mental Test' and maintain the saucy pressure on 'Control Jam', letting the freaky synths cavort across the no-nonsense drums for all manner of deviant delights calling out to all denizens of the night.

Review: Italian tech house DJ and producer Bakked is back on the case with another sure shot for his Outban label. Bakked's focus lies on seedy, sinewy tech house informed by Italo and Giallo soundtracks, so there's plenty of ghoulish soundtrack poise and throbbing arp action on the likes of 'Almost Machine'. The synths are thick and gloopy, the drums boxy and brash, and there's all the peaks and troughs you could wish for from a modern dancefloor filler, making this the perfect demonstration of future-past freakery. Look out for the acid flex on 'Abitudine' and the slow tempo sleaze of 'Channel8', which will get the chugger crowd hot under the collar.

Review: Georgian IDM artist Gacha Bakradze commands a loyal fanbase for his enchanting emanations in the style. The latest example comes in the form of 'Forget', his most recent contribution to Turkish pushers of the craft, Oath. Fluid movements of electro clankings and modular groovework extend far and deep into a gaseous, sulphuric unknown, while airier explorations of spirituality are laid down on the vocal-sample-led 'What You Say' and the wonderfully three-chord-backboned janker, 'Form'. 'Forget' isn't a project for shallow listens; take it slow.

Review: This release is a story of serendipitous stars aligning. Having released Bala Desejo's anthemic single, 'Baile De Mascaras', back in May 2023, Mr. Bongo could sense that they had a summer classic on their hands. The label always thought that it had the potential to find fans in a dance music audience; and in a further twist of fate, the sensational DJ, producer, and radio presenter Jamz Supernova recently graced their Great Escape in-store event with a phenomenal DJ set. After some feverish digging and emailing to her team, Bongo discovered that she was a fan of the original song and had made a personal edit to play in her DJ sets. Gilles had heard Jamz spinning the edit and asked for a copy, and by sheer coincidence and good fortune, it all fell into place. The track is a beast of an edit that gets heavier and deeper as it progresses.

Review: Tropical Disco Records rolls out more of their sun kissed goodness on an impressive 21st volume of their self-titled series. As always there is a devious selection of disco dons taking charge of the course cuts, with Dominic Balchin getting the party started with big trumpet stabs and soul train grooves. Da Lukas slows things down and goes for a more deep, swinging cut with his 'Get Disco Vibes' and then scene veteran Moodena's 'Who Got The Keys?' gets more jazzy, with some fantastic keys and funky bass. Toby O'Connor closes out with a steamy and romantic slow jam, and in doing so rounds out an EP packed with the sort of positive vibes we all need right now.

The plaything of Swedish artists Kornel Kovacs, Axel Boman and their mate Petter Nordkvist it has done it all from trancehall to bubblegum house via pop edits and plenty in between. The label's 21st offering is undoubtedly their most comprehensive release to date, welcoming Italo Disco innovator Daniele Baldelli into the fold with an eight track, double 12" cosmic transmission. Naturally given the length, Baldelli canvasses an array of styles, like the post punk and jazz fusion of "Dark Sax", the pulsating future disco of "Teens & Teens" or the Studio 54 referencing "Portorico". Baldelli also dips into some more down-tempo, ambient and darker italo stylings with "Tunnel", while taking a Latin approach with "Conflitto Mexicano".

Much like the duo's debut for Let's Get Lost, this new edition packs a hefty eight cuts spread across the two platters and from the cosmic leaning of opening cut "Frozen" Daniele and Marco run the gamut of spiky disco punk ("Gregory Band") full on psyche rock ("Noia Noia") and everything in-between. Review: Hell Yeah call up a host of well known disco, downtempo and Balearic names for this special four-track 12". First up is Enzo Elia's extended synth-heavy twist on "Follow The Beat". A true star-gazer, it's the ultimate elevator for any floor lost deep in the dance. Next up, "Reason & Logic", a smoky slice of modern jazz soul laced with dubby bass and a strange distorted guitar lead buried deep in the background. "Entity" flips the deep house switch with lazy keys, big airy pads and an infectious vocal loop. Somerville & Wilson complete the set with an Italo-flavoured Balearic gem; all mild acid and 80s synth textures, it's ultimately timeless. Mercifully, there's not a trace of gabba in sight.
