Review: Adrien Calvert is building up a presence in that cheeky, chunky 90s revival happening around minimal tech house at the moment, and his Stay At Home label is becoming a hot bed of fresh and fruity house jams. Take this VA release as a fine case in point, welcoming the bulbous acid strutter 'Satisfied' by Aline Umber to shake its shoulders next to Calvert's own playful deep house joint 'The Foil'. Latent takes things space-wards on the B side with 'Interstellar Object' before Karaba completes the picture with the crafty beats and synapse-tickling synth delights of 'Loop Da Loop'.

Review: Synkronized is just three releases deep now but is already an assured and reliable outlet for fresh house sounds. This latest offering takes the form of a various artists EP and opens with the brilliantly spaced out electronic house of'Lorenzo Chiabotti & Just_Me's 'Darko FM'. It's a silky one with balmy pads that encourage you to dive right in. Martin M's 'Pleasure Minds' then strips things backed to a nice and empty but rolling groove and on the flip Chad Andrew & Imbue get crunchy with their broken beats. That leaves just Den Haas with his mellifluous and pillow deep house cosmic delight, 'The Spot.'

Review: Collab EPs are back in fashion, and Tropical Disco are leading their charge. The boundlessly potentiated space between disco, dance and jazz is their game, and 'Tropical Disco Volume 23' proves they can win it time and time again. Four tracks of trumpetting 4x4 glory-buzz dominate this EP. Clean Is Good wipes the floor with disco-edit edge, while Moodena comes through with a mighty mood of motor city madness, and Sartorial and Infrasoul share the B-side with a pair of broken, drum-banging and glass-shattering instrumentals. Review: Throwdown Records throw down a fresh reissue of Ice Cube's stone cold classic 'You Know How We Do It', first released as a single from his fourth studio album Lethal Injection (1996). Emblematic of Cube's signature West Coast G-funk, this one's replete with the glissando'd whistles and smokey funk motifs we all know and love from the frozen rap hexahedron, who confidently assures us of us already knowing how he does it. There's no messing with Cube; the track appears alongside the original B flip '2 N The Morning', which ups the bombast to boomier, increasingly sexual nighttime ends.

Review: Two previously unheard righteous anthems from the sweet-voiced Icho Candy. The A side, 'Get Up Natty' was cut at Channel One in the mid-eighties, with backing by the Gifted Roots Band, and features an instantly recognisable bed of squelchy FX, elastic synth leads and choppy upstrokes, while the flip is an emotive new cut featuring legends from the Firehouse and Channel One production camps on the riddim. It's great to hear Icho still in fine style, delivering a timeless anthem with a positive message. Both sides also include excellent dubwise versions. Another jewel in the constantly expanding Digikiller catalogue!

Review: Firmly Rooted has done a great job of rolling outage rhythms over the last couple of years. The release rate and quality levels have remained high with the likes of breakout Leeds artist Breakface impressing back in May. Now, 18 months or so after their last outing, Ickle & Hotsteppas are back on the label with some more fresh dubs. First up, 'No Love, No Peace' Ft Prince Jaco is a big, fresh roller with great height and serious bass weight. The dub strips things back to melon-twisting echo and reverb and 'Mr Government' (feat Lionpulse) is an organic dub with brilliantly elastic bass. 'Leroy Sax Version' is a sax-laced dub of the same tune.

Review: Santiago-based Drumma label is back in full swing with its first release in a couple of years. Before the pandemic they had releases from scene heavy hitters such as Luciano, (iO) Mulen, Barac and Livio & Roby. For this one they've chosen Miami-based up-and-comer Idana who presents the immersive and multi-layered minimal techno experience of 'Cantan Los Pajaros Modulares' featuring an array of atonal blips and bleeps underpinned by clipped and hypnotic polyrhythms. Over on the flip, the mesmerising energy continues on the wonky breakbeat-driven roller 'Telepatic'.

Review: Cleopatra Records are no strangers to collectible 7"s from the archives of Iggy & The Stooges. In recent times we've had the likes of 'The Passenger', 'Scene Of The Crime' and even a live spot with David Bowie in 1977 thrown into the mix. Now comes something which feels so right tucked up tight on a 45 - a raucous live rendition of The Kingsmen's classic beat track 'Louie Louie', a song which would go on to be a lifelong staple in Iggy Pop's performance career. Review: Not to be confused with the 12th studio album by Mary J. Blige, or any of the other records with 'London Sessions' in the title (and there will be many, many), it's now 50 years since Iggy Pop and his Stooges sat down to record the now-legendary LP, Raw Power, with sessions taking place (you guessed it), in London. Logically, this extended player collates some of the best versions that didn't make the final cut into one place, and as such is definitely a must for diehard fans and collectors.
Not that others should be put off in anyway. We'd still recommend getting a copy of the original as it was intended to be released. The players designed it that way. But this is also a well-worth owning piece of punk rock history, with unrelenting, unpolished, uncompromising and unapologetic noise sounding as infectious today as it did back then.

Review: Welcome to Flankup Recordings, an island in the sun with glistening waters all around it, certainly if the first EP is anything to go off. It is the label's co-founder Il Mare Di Fronte, a new alias from Paolo Russi aka Discojuice. His lush Balearic sounds have plenty of beauty and mediterranean qualities as they explore horizontal disco, deep bogie and warm, organic downtempo sounds with retro synth craft and scattered percussive hits. Review: Ildec shows plenty of class on this diverse new EP for Belgium's Altered Circuits. It has its roots in an early 90s electronic sound with plenty of inspiration from the artist's own compelling DJ sets. The Ibiza-based producer opens up with the atmospheric synths of 'El Principio' then gets gritty on tough tech loops on 'Modificacion' and explores a more funky broken beat vibe on 'El Break Del Dia'. 'El Break De La Noche' is cyborg funk with freaky effects and alien life forms and two closers get nice and bumpy with twisted bass and off-kilter rhythms.

Review: This EP showcases Ilo aka olafur Breidfjord's deep house and tech house style with three tracks that explore different aspects of the genre. The title track, 'Supernature' is a soulful house cover of Cerrone's 1977 disco classic. Breidfjord's version retains the original's catchy vocal and infectious groove, while adding his own unique touch with lush chords and a driving bassline. 'You' is a perfect track B-Side for this record, adding this alternative heater. 'Am I Feeling Good?' is a grittier track, with a driving beat and tough bassline. Review: Oluko Imo is a legendary figure in Yoruba mythology as well as being revered as one of the progenitors of the Yoruba people. He is believed to be a descendant of Oduduwa, the mythical founder and first king of the Yoruba people, but it's also the name of a Trinidadian musician who blends calypso heritage with Afrobeat and jazz from Nigeria. He recorded his iconic album between Lagos and New York in 1988 and it has long been a cult classic. This reissue features the title track from it - a deep cut and steamy rhythm, and 'Were Oju Le (Eyes Are Getting Red)', a horn led Afro-funk workout.

Review: The backstory to this one is great. It starts in 1978 when a New York producer was in need of some studio musicians to lay down some fast and funky rhythms for a band he was working with, The Imperials. Minneapolis talents Andre Cymone and Prince Rogers Nelson duly stepped up and recorded 'Fast Freddy The Roller Disco King'. An album from the Imperials was set to follow but it never did, leaving us with this one majestic cut. It's soul-drenched and cosmic disco with a killer vocal back with a more leggy and slow-motion cosmic wonder, 'I Just Wanna Be Your Lovin' Man.'

And this single on Etichetta Nera out of Italy sounds exactly like a reissue of just that from some time in the mid-90s but apparently, it is an all-new cut from In Da Club. It's got Italo melodies, catchy vocals and accessible beats and sure will bring the good times. A dub and instrumental is included as is a Joe T Vannelli remix that has some acidic house spice to it.

Review: Indeep's 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' is one of those all-time classics - a stone cold floor filler that gets everyone going whether they're fans of the darkest techno or the most camp house. Review: Jumpin' & Pumpin' looks back into the seminal archives of The Future Sound of London here to reissue their fantastic The Pulse EP from 2008 which also featured tunes from Manchester pair Indo Tribe. It is they who start with 'Bring In The Pulse' which features some Happy Mondays hallelujahs, mad rave whistles and bristling electronic breaks. 'In The Mind Of A Child' (First Born mix) is then a bouncy techno cut with more visceral synth and acid lines and The Future Sound Of London kick off the flipside with 'Hardhead' (Frothin' At The Mouth mix) which is an assault of breaks, congas, whistles and rave signifiers. 'Pulse State' (831 AM mix) is that perfect tune to zone out to on a late night drive on the motorway.

Review: Less so an 'artist' and more the recorded memory of a late night radio show, the Collective Rhythm Network was the late 1990s brainchild of Geoff Adamson and Marc-Andrew Bird, hijacking the 103.7 FM airwave in St. Catherines, Canada. After gaining some local traction, Adamson and Bird did indeed continue the name as their own production and DJ alias, going on to play at many a party - and recently, to establish an eponymous record label. The 'Monday Night' series charts some of their favourite cuts to play on the radio and deploy behind the booth on a monday; this incarnation hears swelling, airy numbers from DJ Slugo, Chris Shivers and Infiltrate. Review: As well as Model 500, Cybotron and his own name, Juan Atkins has a mighty fine back catalogue as Infiniti. It's where the Detroit techno pioneer's spaciest hi-tech soul cuts reside, which is especially evident on the classic 'Game One'. Originally released in 1994 on Metroplex, it's now getting the remix treatment via German label Kontakt, leading in with an outstanding version from Dutch legend Steve Rachmad who creates a supremely bouncy, dreamy version that speaks to sunnier days. Santiago Salazar steps up on the flip with two contrasting versions, from the cosmically-charged 4/4 funk of his straight-up remake to the deeper shades of the 'Sci-fi Xicano' remix under his S2 alias.

Review: Juan Atkins released some of the funkiest, dreamiest techno of his imperious career as Infiniti. a collaboration with Orlando Voorn,. 'Game One' originally came out on Metroplex in 1994 and it's since become an essential part of the Detroit techno canon. On this release for Kontakt we're treated to some visionary remixes of the track from trusted experts, leading in with Steve Rachmad's pumped up, springy rendition on the A-side. It's a version which upholds the machine soul sensibility of the original, paying all due respect to the blueprint Atkins laid down as a Detroit techno pioneer. Review: Nick Ingram is a criminally lesser-spotted artist whose credits stretch back to 1998, among which include his various instrumental and production contributions to the band The New Electrics, as well as single contributions to compilations by NME and Melody Maker. But Dynamite Cuts here call 'Trip Wire' and 'Throng' two tracks expressly made for TV soundtracking - never heard before, they reveal Ingram's repertoire in library scoring; the former track is a feverish trip-funker, packed with twang guitar and yodelling flutes, while the latter is a chromatic instrumental soul-jazz number starring a deeply haunting counterpoint, shared equally between synth and voice.

Review: It's spinbacks, rave stabs and "can't you see"s galore on Injectionz' debut tenth hardcore dubplate, released on their eponymous imprint. Faithful to the form, this is a debut that won't fail to impress even the more seasoned veterans of the scene either; intro track 'Gotta Believe' seems to make light of its debutante's ambition by way of slapstick scat samples and even an "oh my god, I'm a DJ" interjection, then spraying the 'phones with scratches, cutups and repitchings at a blasphemous rate of fire. B-sider 'Rockin' The House' demonstrates a laxer tendency, proving that many different auditory vaccinations are indeed on offer to the would-be fan.

Review: Australian producer Inkswel is back on the Cosmocities label in France with more of his superbly soulful sounds, this time with none other than Chicago legend Robert Owens. The lush 'Space Love' is a playful deep house jam with the sort of cosmic synths that recall early Fingers Inc and Owens's smoky tones only heighten that feeling. Steve Spacek provides a mix that rides on broken beats with elastic bass but just as much cosmic energy and a Fluterumental gets all loose-limbed and seductive. On the flip side are two Yoruba Soul mixes that bring extra rich soul vibes and shimmering pad work. A classy and timeless EP for sure.

Review: We aren't sure who Inner Space Quartet are be we are sure you will like them. This is the second new music from them this month and it follows a busy 2022 in which they put out three head-turning 7"s on different labels. They seem to be settling for Funk Night as their home this year but soundwise are harder to pin down - there is Thai funk, space rock, jazz, psyched-out guitars and much more all contained with these two expansive and immersive sounds. 'Paranoia Party' is the really 60s-tinged narcotic opener then 'Delay' brings more rock guitar sounds as if from some secret and tripped-out Stones concert in the desert back in the day.

Review: Innershades has always dealt in lo-fi, misty sounds that are steeped in beauty and melancholy and offer plenty of subtle homages to Detroit. Here he cooks up more electro magic on the Explorer EP, which is again minimalistic in design but maximal in terms of dancefloor impact. His melodies really convey true emotional pain and the drums bring sleek electro energy and brilliance. 'Unknown Depths' is a serene one to open with, 'Explorer' brings some acid modulations and extra percussive snap and 'Aquaculture' is the most liquid and dubby cut here. 'Super 6' has a sense of hope for the future in its brighter, more optimistic melodies. Exceptional stuff.

Review: Using the Turkish psychedelic project Insanlar as a jump off point, Honest Jon's have enlisted Ricardo Villalobos to turn out one of his grandiose remix projects that gels so naturally with more exotic sound sources. The original of "Kime Ne" is already an enchanting, Moog-infused groover rich with traditional vocals, and then Mr Villalobos locks the ingredients in for a typically cosmic ride into stripped and hypnotic house territory, letting the lutes intertwine with dusty reams of percussion using that alchemists touch that could only come the man himself. The remix spreads itself over two sides of wax, leaving one side of the double pack free for a fetching etching as well.

Review: Here are two absolute gold standard Salsoul classics given a new spruce up thanks to the remix skills of T Power. Wisely, they've chosen to take a softly softly approach to such sacred material, but there's a little extra dancefloor oomph where it counts to make these tracks pop off that little more against more modern fare. First up is Instant Funk's evergreen classic "I Got My Mind Made Up (You Can Get It Girl)", and on the flip it's the impossibly perfect "Love Thang" by First Choice. Both have never sounded better - full credit to T Power for doing this one right.

These groovers are all a perfect mix of party starting goodness with sophisticated produciton techniques and classy melodies that work both body and heady. 'Concentrate' is a dusty and nostalgic opener with well swung drums and 'Homage' then sinks into a smooth and soothing deep house groove. Things stay classically inclined but with a hint of new school freshness on the bumping 'Use What You Got' before deeper cut 'Don't U Ever' and closer 'Line' close out a stylish and very useful 12".

Review: The Two & Half label is back after a head turning debut with a new various artists EP that lays out more of its singular sonic visions. Ionescu kicks off with 'Low Ride Her,' a balmy mix of lithe synths and cosmically minded pads that unfurl over fresh beats. Emi Omar's 'Rob Hot' brings twisted percussion and future funk and Venetia rounds out a-side with 'Atomic', which is a high speed techno jaunt wired up with filtered vocals and unrelenting snares and scurrying bass. Review: Back in the 80s, Weldon Johnathan Irvine was a core part of the sul, jazz and funk scene. He was an amiable man who put out plenty of records that reflected that and now some of them are making their way onto 45rpm for the first time ever. This latest 7" opens with 'Fat Mouth' which is a busy and dynamic cut with mad keys work, crashing drums and a real sense of urgency as it hurries along. There is a more reflective and thoughtful mood to the gorgeous flip side, which encourages the mind to wander on the heart chords and breezy grooves.

Review: Mexican duo Isidro Cuevas and Willy Cabanas first joined forces a year or two back on a fiery two-tracker for psychedelic, 21st century cumbia specialists Discos Mas. Here they return to the Oakland, California-based label with two more slabs of mind-melting goodness. A-side 'Cumbia Dimension' brilliantly joins the dots between cumbia, reggaeton and dub, adding spacing synths and auto-tune heavy vocals to deep bass, jaunty riffs and cumbia beats. Flipside 'Tu Selva' explores similar sonic territory, albeit via a deeper, warmer and woozier sound, with far more extensive lead vocals.

Review: Ahead of their European tour, Turkish electronic group Islandman share their EP 'Popsicle Obstacle', the new material on which tracks a heady musical pathway from archaic folk traditions and regional acoustics right through to the modern-day tonic-sonics of the electronic sequencer. Having made headway from the spiritualist dream of primitive past to the glossy utopia of a digital future, Islandman's core members are multi-instrumentalist & producer Tolga Boyuk, Eralp Guven (percussion) and Erdem Baser (guitars). The title is a misnomer, if not for the fact that the six tracks here are hardly obstacles at all; rather, they're hugely well-produced, flavoursome treats, chief among which has to be the incredible track 'Simple Man', which - take it from us - just gets cooler and cooler, timbrally and tastefully.

Review: For their latest deep dive into mid-90s electronic music history, Transmigration has decided to explore the slim but perfectly formed catalogue of Mark Lloyd and Mark Richardson's Isomise project. The pair released two 12s under the alias in 1995, and 'Intersections' features remastered versions of tracks plucked from both. A-side 'The Intersection' is simply superb: a sparse, minimalistic, intergalactic excursion that presents nine minutes of hissing tech-jazz cymbals, broken techno beats, dubby bass, creepy melodic motifs and whispered vocal samples. On side B you'll find wayward, mind-mangling acid techno throb job 'Ketama' and the percussion-heavy, acid-flecked psychedelic techno hedonism of 'Kolo'. In a word: essential!

Review: The origins of these mysterious edits are not exactly known but word is they come from the northern regions of California. All five of them are super slick and timeless cuts that are suited to a wide range of different moments at any party. There's old early post-disco house on 'Not Midnight', more sleek cosmic fare on 'Summer House', loopy funk on 'High Feeling' and deeper grooves on 'Not Math.' Review: Romanian renegade Iuly.B is back with more of his widescreen, synth-rich constructions for the minimal-not-minimal brigade. This time he's bringing his wares to Italian label Modvlar, who were last spotted releasing Valentino Kanzyani back in 2021. The whole Crystal Cave EP is brimming with invention as the techno synths come cascading down around the snappy house beat on the title track and 'Vital Expansion' lets expansive sweeps of pads and charged arps shape out the sound before letting the drums rip. 'Traffic Jam' is just as ear-catching thanks to its low-down bassline and metallic, rhythmic signal processing, giving Nobodi plenty to work with for a liberally dubbed remix to close the record out.

Review: When it comes to heavy chug, Multi Culti has always known exactly where to strike to make the most memorable or - more accurately - inescapable impact. Thomas Jackson's 'Slow Train' is just the latest case in point, then, drawing dancers and listeners alike in with its warm-hued, hypnotic synth lines, stabs and warbles in all the right places to ensure that while not that much happens, you'll be stomping about like everything was going on at once. Far from a one-track-wonder, Calypso Cult II is the label setting out all its stalls with aplomb. 'Jungle Tungle' is a strange, somewhat shrill, constantly building and percussively dominated workout that's tough and yet not actually that tough. 'Big Plastic Room' is peak time acid meets Kraut oddness, while 'Hipocampos' brings things to a beautiful close with beguiling, downtempo sludge.

Review: Welcome to Nila's Quest, a brand new label that starts as all good day's should, with a healthy serving of breakfast. It's an Argentina Breakfast, to be precise, and the first of what we can only assume will be a series of releases under this title. Jovit is first out of the blocks with the cosmic and crunchy tech house of 'Gamma Goblin' while Ian Puchetti then gets all blissed out and beach with his Ibiza tinged deep house cut 'Dreams'. There is a charming sense of 80s synth nostalgia to the snappy beats of Bruno & TOBI's 'Te Quiero' then Dual Sense's 'Morning Driver' closes out with a perfect soundtrack to late night driving.

Review: Otis and Intheismah inaugurate the new Satelliet Studio label with some punchy, electro-tinted techno that should be of great interest to fans of artists like The Hacker. Otis has previously been spotted on labels like Partisan and EYA, which should give you some idea of his sound, while Andrea 'Intheismah' Sbardella makes a debut appearance on this release. There's an analogue warmth to the productions which is instantly engaging, not least on stand out EBM cut 'Evil (Is Going On)'. Swapping between solo tracks and joint efforts, the pair share a vision for darkly seductive machine music crying out for a basement cast in red light and an appropriately gnarly soundsystem.

Review: Latest in the Italian soundtrack reissues crop comes this pair of tracks from the soundtrack of Un Uomo Dalla Pelle Dura (The Boxer), a 1972 film directed by Franco Prosperi and starring Robert Blake and Catherine Spaak. Composed by Carlo Pes - who was also the guitarist of the infamous quartet I Marc 4, who probably played on this session as well - 'The Riff' and 'Bossa Party' are are light-footed, drum-led funk number and a piano-led supernova respectively. Perfect accompaniments for the subject of a disgruntled boxer fighting for his dignity.

Review: Gjidoda Music returns with its long awaited third release. It's another various artists affair featuring some right heavy hitters and newcomers alike on the minimal scene. Opening up the first side is US veteran Bruno Pronsato with the typically arcane microhouse cut 'When You Ran Away From Home', followed by some late night mood music by Iljir on 'Ziiik Zaaak'. Over on the flip, Nikdo takes you into a cavernous and glacial realm on 'Confusion' and finally label chiefs (presumably!) Gjidoda & Gjidoda Jr go deep on the swing-fuelled groove action of 'Wish To Be A Movie Star'.

Qeta takes care of the a-side with a serene opener in the form of 'Idream' which pairs lush ambient designs with pristine breakbeats. Review: Coming to Sound Synthesis' very own imprint, Wave Function, producers Qeta and Inkipak go head-to-head on this incredible new six-tracker, in a rare contemporary example of a "versus" record. Qeta's approach to production makes more sense when we bear his prior explorations in jungle under the name The Jaffa Kid, in mind; helming up the first three tracks that make up the A-side's corpus, the likes of 'Idream' and 'Corpus' reveal a preference for precision, taken to increasingly bloopy, novel and spacious logical conclusions. Inkipak's rebuttal is to resort to cascading breaks blissouts, preferring a more euphoric arsenal made up of ethereal vocals and trilling arps, of which 'Schedule' is the highlight.

Review: Two And Half Records make the decision here to try and rid the A and B-side distinction on records that we are all very familiar with and instead they refer to each face of their latest 12" as 'dance' and 'listen.'' It makes sense frankly and is often how things go anyway. Swiss duo Quismi kick off this one with twitchy and narcotic tech house with an old school bent. French artist Groenogen then gets wild with bright melodies and grinding synths, r&b vocals and high speed tech funk on 'Twinkle Dance' while ILyes offers the tech silkiness of 'Starting Now.' On the flip is a trio of less direct, more experimental sounds that sure do offer plenty to get lost in on headphones.

Review: Paharas Musica is a new label out of Spain that kicks off with a single served up four different ways. It is a truly blissed out and Balearic one to start with as the Summa remix of 'White Isle Memories' offers just that, even if you have never actually been to the island itself. The house is deep, the melodies sun kissed and Latin and the vocals sublime. An extended mix slows things down and drapes even more heartfelt chords over the top and then the Inner Spirit rework layers in extra melodies to a more driving version with potent bass. The Ridney Sunset reprise is the most laidback of the lot.
