Review: 18437 is only four releases deep but is already a revered outlet renowned for its quality output thanks to, in part, a couple of great EPs by the late great Soulphiction. This time out it is Nico Lahs using his NLXLB moniker who takes control with deep, dubby techno for the backroom or late-night hours. The blissful 'Dazed Dreams' is a pad-laced early evening warm-up. 'Dirty Vision' is a little more textured with background drums trying to hurry as lush freeform chords do a slow dance in the foreground. 'Synthetic Wars' gets all squelchy, with hefty, splintered, and wooden drums and hits tumbling in off-grid patterns.

Muelsa's 'The Future Is A Trap' is a raw, boxy machine workout and Nico Lampariello finishes the record off with an acid laced workout for the darker side of the dance.

Review: A repro of the much in-demand Flames cut first made by the Nairobi Sisters in 1974, 'Promised Land'. Infamously sampled by Q-Tip for 'Whateva Will Be' as well as on a range of earlier 90s boom-bap era productions, it is not at all hard to figure out why it's a coveted record. The Nairobi Sisters were singers Terrie Nairobi and Judy Mowatt, and 'Promised Land' was first recorded with the band The Gaytones, under license to the Gay Feet label. Later cut to Winston Jones' Flames Records, the track and its dub version came to define the Brooklyn reggae scene, owing to the enduring interest it commands today.

Review: Adding yet another record to the pile that has so far been provided by the label A_A, the experimental dub artists behind said outfit (Satoshi Tomiie and Nao Gunji) have really outdone themselves out here. On pink splatter vinyl comes 'Dissonant', one of many EPs to have emerged from the same heads-down studio session that saw to its predecessor, 'Radiant'. Tracks 1-4 lock in a slew of impressive ear-scourings and dub-delayed experimentations, with the first and last tracks particularly blowing us away with their broken beats, which allow for more attention to be paid to every undulation, crackle and knock.

Review: The Acid Jazz label recently celebratedits 35th year in business and, despite having an entire genre named afterit, has been very influential in supporting various genres, with its roster like a who's who of downtempo music. Review: The trend for spaced-out electronic house sounds knows no bounds at the moment. Nolga is the latest to start into a starship and head for the cosmos on this new EP for Aesthetic. Review: London's All Day I Dream label has been using clouds on its EP covers since its first release in 2011. The latest huffing of the vapours is a cumulonimble EP from Noraj Cue and Anton Tomas, two dreamy and deft masters of texture local to the label. The track Cue contributes to the EP, 'Ode To Life Formation', is impressive, with an ear-caressing bassline taking centre stage as echoic blips and cuts float around its suspenseful stasis. The remixes on the B by Tomas add trembling wind chimes and additional melodies to the mix, overall providing a neat coda to the track's vision.

Review: Cardiff-based troubadour Ali Lacey, AKA Novo Amor, began this musical project in the wake of a breakup, but things quickly became about much more than redemption and recovery. Review: The young but auspicious Amplify label is back with a four fearsome techno EP. Normal Stage is at the buttons and heads out on a warm and dreamy dub techno vibe that soon soothes your soul. 'FV2' is another eight-minute plus dub excursion that quickens the pace but is no less smooth and supple, while 'FV3' brings some airy and organic melodies up top that drift about with a curious charm. Review: It's an Irish affair for Apartment, an all-Celtic lineup for an eclectic house four-track off the beaten path. Ireland has been accumulating an unseen electronic scene, with breakcore and jungle artists like Harmful Logic and DJ Kuroneko being just an example of the counter-culture innovation that's gaining traction. Here we see a combination of breakbeat-infused house and deep tech, with a deliberate Porter Robinson-esque nostalgia imbued within. We start off with 'Sanyo Shinkansen', a groove as efficient as its namesake with rolling guitars against a wind section that imitates train signals intermittently. Swiftly following is something more forward-looking, the glitchy beat on 'Green Spot Boogie' conjuring the breeziness of the aforementioned Robinson's 'Wind Tempos' and its stuttered synths. Tracks three and four are the secret weapons, Irish producers ELLLL and Lumigraph crafting dark, moody industrial cuts and synthy, atmospheric electronica respectively (Think Machine Girl's 'Neon White' OST). It's a bold and strong four-track showcasing some extreme talent.

Review: If this fine 7" is anything to go by, the crate digging and detective skills of Athens of the North founder Euan Fryer are as sharp as ever. The two tracks featured here originally appeared on a private press single that currently changes hands for large sums online. Fryer manager to track down the original writer/producer, Chicago-based George Riviera, who not only have his blessing to the reissue, but also sent over the master tapes. Stylistically, A-side "The Time is Right" sits somewhere between Latin soul, jazz-funk and sumptuous downtempo disco, with blue-eyed soul vocals and subtle vibraphone solos rising above superb had percussion. Fipside "Feelin' Funky" is a more up-tempo affair: an undulating chunk of jazz-funk/disco fusion laden with neat musical touches.

Review: If you like your tech-house off-kilter, spacey and rich in quirky, glitchy percussion programming, we'd suggest checking out this collaborative EP from Italian tech-house star Yaya and fellow countryman Nacho Bolognani. Opener 'Flan' is high-grade early morning tech-house, with deep space pads and gaseous electronic textures floating across gltch-laden late-night drums and a fine analogue bassline, while 'Tastic' is a funkier slab of intergalactic tech-house warmth. Over on the flip we're treated to two rock-solid re-rubs. First Mahony gives 'Tastic' a slicker, smoother feel (it reminded us of late 90s, Wiggle style tech-house) before Steve O'Sullivan provides a tougher, darker and more analogue rich revision of the same track.

Review: London-based label Telum recently launched the offshoot label Aurum, that's into its second release which comes from Rominimal hero Nu Zau. On the A-side, you've got the groovy broken beat microhouse of 'Break Me' which is totally made for getting weird at the after hours, while over on the flip he goes for a couple more tunes which are more straight ahead. First up is the heady minimal funk of 'Everytime' which gets the job done in typically lean and subtle fashion, followed by the emotive Sunday morning sunrise vibes of 'R U Ready'. Tip!
