Analogue synthesiser
Notes: Welcome to the world of sound of LYRA-8, the unique organismic analogue synthesizer designed by Vlad Kreimer. "Organismic" means that LYRA uses some principles that lie in the base of living organisms. The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation.

LYRA-8 is based on eight generators, which will be referred to as voices. Their design is not like a traditional subtractive synthesis VCO. Instead of having a linear or logarithmic dependency on control voltage, they resemble the tone generators in old electric organs. Hence the use of the term "voices" instead of "VCOs". Lyra uses non-linearity a lot, and the voices are constructed in such a way that allows for non-linearity to express itself.

The voices are divided into four pairs (12, 34, 56, 78). All the pairs are divided in two groups, with two pairs in each (1234, 5678), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-8 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of two lines of delay with cross-feedback and a special architecture that enables resonance between the two lines. Each line's delay time can be individually modulated from various sources, including external ones. The delay has a unique possibility of self-modulation where the output signal modulates the delay sample rate, creating cool effects.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

Soma Laboratory Ether V2 Anti Radio (field recording tool)
Cat: 781128 Rel: 08 Jul 20 • View all Synthesisers

Radio receiver
Notes: ETHER is a wide-band receiver that makes it possible to perceive the electromagnetic landscape around you.

ETHER is a kind of anti-radio. Instead of being tuned to a specific radio station, it receives all the interference and radiation that a traditional radio tries to eliminate in order to create a clean signal. It captures the radio waves as is from hertz to gigahertz because it doesn't contain the tuned input circuit that filters out all frequencies except the narrow band of a specific station. This allows ETHER to perceive the invisible electromagnetic landscape that humans created unintentionally, making possible live electromagnetic field listening and recording.

The design was inspired by the design for the very first radios (early 1900s) that had no tuning wheel. At this time there weren't many radio stations, and all of them used Morse code. It was possible to distinguish each transmitter by ear, as each one had its own specific timbre or voice.

ETHER is pocket-sized (103x58x17mm) and light-weight (73g with batteries). It consumes very little power and runs on two AAA batteries. How long it can run on two batteries is unclear,- but the battery life is more than 300 hours if you using alkaline or lithium batteries.

ETHER was intended to be a unique accessory for the conscious modern human. Special designed enclosures made in Europe were used, as well as high-quality PCB and furniture providing long life and high reliability. So with ETHER, you get both a unique sound experience and a cool-looking high-quality gizmo.

ETHER has both magnetic and electric components for sensing radiation. For the magnetic component, it has a built-in magnetic antenna, like the ones used in old long-wave radios. The antenna has maximum sensitivity on ETHER's axis. By changing the orientation, angle and position of ETHER, you will change the sound. For the electric component, it has antennas printed on the PCB and the special input pins placed on the anterior surface.

ETHER V2 has two external antenna pins. You can touch any conductive material or surface (including your body) with the pins and use objects or yourself as a big external antenna! Two pins are connected to different points of the circuit and interact differently with electromagnetic waves. Switching from one to another or using them both, you can change the sound. Far away from a city, we recommend trying to use a piece of wire 1-4 meters long connected to one of the pins for getting some interesting sound.

ETHER V2 has two wheels for sound control and the power switch. The upper wheel adjusts the amount of high-frequency amplification and regeneration. The lower wheel is the volume. By adjusting high-frequency gain you can focus ETHER on different dynamical levels of surround interferences getting the richest and interesting sound.

ETHER is not just an inductive sniffer like some projects you can easily find online. A simple low-frequency inductive sniffer will be silent in most places that are full of sounds in the video. Such devices need to be placed close to an emitting source and will not work on a street. All they contain is a coil and a low-frequency amplifier. In comparison, ETHER has a regenerative circuit and a demodulator, making it an actual radio wave receiver, not just an amplifier of low-frequency magnetic fields. However, ETHER can perceive the low-frequency magnetic fields as well. But, honestly, if your goal is to scan objects in close proximity (0-20 centimeters), a simple inductive sniffer will work cleaner and more focused due to its narrow band and lower sensitivity. ETHER was designed to be a part of your walks in the city and may even pick up sounds in a forest or at the seashore. Also, ETHER can perceive the electric component of the radiation as well, capturing radiation that is far above the audio range and is much more sensitive. Therefore, it has a significantly different design, functions and implementation than a simple inductive sniffer even if in some cases their functions can overlap.

ETHER is very sensitive to any kind of digital circuitry that's in close proximity, hence the lack of an SD-card recorder or something like that inside. You also have to make sure to keep other electronic devices that you carry (phone, laptop, recorder) at least 30cm/1ft away to avoid interference, but ETHER definitely works well when you walk around with a smartphone and laptop.

The build.
All that analog and digital functionality merged in a one clearly marked layout sealed in a sturdy tabletop aluminium chassis. Handily placed aluminium covered knobs, informative LED buttons for the comfort of use. The Grid pads made of specially designed silicone, so their immaculately matched density and firmness are providing an instant and precise response.

Once you start, you can't stop.
It's all about innovation, revealing new quality and ideas in music. Medusa Hybrid Synthesizer materialized from the genuine passion and a firm relationship between Dreadbox and Polyend synthesized in the proper way. At first, there was a desire to add a simple sequencer and preset functionality to the famous Dreadbox analog synthesizer. But as the more you have, the more you want, this liaison grew up to something utterly unique and totally different than initially planned. We literally had to limit ourselves from tucking more and more new ideas for Medusa functionality, just like you're going to have to withhold yourself from tweaking it all the time. Careful, Medusa might be dangerously absorbing and can drag you in for a long time.

Medusa Black Limited Edition
The Medusa Hybrid Synthesizer is a fruit of a collaboration between Dreadbox and Polyend companies. It has emerged from both teams an unusual approach to integrating analogue and digital domains into a new quality.

Colourful knobs included in every purchase.

Eurorack analog synthesiser module
Notes: The original Lifeforms SV-1 eurorack format synthesizer module is legendary for its deep, analog sounds capable of pumping out everything from roaring bass and cutting leads to absolute chaos. The SV-1b shares this same bold, powerful core while fine tuning the details. We have made a countless number of small tweaks and adjustments to the original SV-1 synthesis engine to improve the stability and functionality of the SV-1b. The sound is what matters, and this is still the East Coast analog monster to beat.

From the custom designed oscillator core to the iconic sound of the Pittsburgh Filter, the SV-1b showcases the true power of analog synthesis. The oscillator core used in the SV-1b was developed by Michael Johnsen and Richard Nicol to pair the visceral size and depth of vintage oscillators with the tracking and stability needed by modern instruments. The result is a palate of waveforms tuned to perfection with proprietary analog designs and countless listening tests. The Pittsburgh Filter is the heart of the SV-1b. The first collaboration between Michael and Richard, it defines the sound of Pittsburgh. Buttery smooth, the filter adds a depth and weight to waveforms so it never sounds dull. Michael's liquid resonance circuit allows the Pittsburgh Filter to overdrive smoothly and never lose the bottom end regardless of how high you turn up the resonance. Everywhere is a sweet spot.

The SV-1b is not a semi-modular synthesizer with limited signal path options. Each module within the SV-1b can be used independently to the rest of the system. The SV-1b is pre-patched (normaled) internally so patch cables are not necessary to get started. But as soon as you begin patching, you will appreciate the unrestricted creativity of the 53 patch points and 21 knobs. By breaking each module of the SV-1b out with patch cables, a tremendous amount of flexibility and control emerges to patch up any sound your imagination can dream up.

The MIDI to CV converter enables you to connect all your MIDI-compatible gear and convert it to control voltage right inside the SV-1b. Volt per octave, gate, CC, and velocity outputs allow you to connect to your MIDI keyboard or DAW while a digital LFO with sine, triangle, square, and quantized random voltage waveforms provides clock sync'd modulation options. A clock input allows you to override the internal or MIDI clock and sync to external CV and gate clock signals. The built-in arpeggiator unlocks another level of playability and the capacity to create complex and fresh musical patterns out of just a few notes.

The custom core, dual analog oscillators provide the sonic framework for massive synth sounds and a deep exploration of east coast synthesis. Sine, triangle, saw, and square waves are at your control, all available to modulate via FM and hard sync. Oscillator One also contains our unique blade wave. The shifting saw-like shape of the blade wave can be controlled using the width CV input, creating a sweeping or chorusing effect. Oscillator Two is normaled to the FM of Oscillator One, providing jaw-dropping analog FM bass, deep percussive hits, searing leads, and thick, warm analog pads which all come to life from these two Pittsburgh designed, organic sounding oscillators. Both analog oscillators dip well below audio rate, allowing them to function as voltage controllable LFOs.

A utility LFO with triangle and square wave outputs is ideal for VCA or Filter frequency sweeps. Or, turn it up and release the dynamic FM capabilities of either oscillator. A Tools section provides access to two sub-octave oscillators, derived from Oscillator One's core frequency. Analog noise and sample & hold finish out the Tools section.

This versatile four channel mixer comes pre-wired for fast access to Oscillator One's sine, saw, pulse and sub. However, you are just a patch cable away from instantly making your own unique blend of waveforms from the SV-1b. The mixer can also be split into two independent two channel mixers for maximum patching flexibility.

Smooth and thick, the sound of the revered Pittsburgh Modular Filter is unmistakable. Stunning harmonic character with voltage control over the entire frequency range. A provided attenuverter lets you dial in exactly how much CV to feed the frequency input, even inverting the input for dramatic changes in modulation. Separate highpass, lowpass, and bandpass outputs are provided as breakout options, each with their own powerful sonic timbres. Turn up the resonance for an added growl, giving your tones an aggressive edge that no softsynth can match.

Panel size: 48hp
Depth: 35mm
Power Usage: +12v 230mA, -12v 200mA. Does not require +5v. Includes reversed power polarity protection.

Notes: Nicely priced bundle of Toraiz Squid sampler and AS-1 analogue synth, designed to hook up neatly with Pioneer CDJs and controllers.

Supplier's notes:
This package includes:
1x Pioneer TORAIZ AS-1 Synthesiser
1x Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID Sequencer

Pioneer TORAIZ AS-1 Analog Synthesiser:
The second musical instrument in the TORAIZ range, the AS-1 is a monophonic analog synthesizer that brings new creative possibilities to the studio and the stage. Its intuitive controls include parameter knobs that let you make both subtle and dramatic changes to the tone of your music to create your own personalised sound. Plus you can use the touchpad-style keyboard and slider to manipulate sounds during performances.

The TORAIZ AS-1 is driven by a fully programmable, true analogue synthesis engine based on the discrete analogue circuitry in Dave Smith Instruments' Prophet-6 synthesizer. It also inherits 7 on-board effects from the Prophet-6 synth as well as a brand new digital distortion. Working closely with Dave Smith himself, the results are a synth that produces powerful analogue sound. The TORAIZ AS-1 is an ideal addition to the setups of professional and aspiring producers.

The AS-1 is based on the same analogue filters as Dave Smith's renowned Prophet-6 synthesiser. It has 2 voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO) with continuously-variable triangle, sawtooth, and pulse wave shapes. Sculpt your sound using the 2 voltage-controlled filters (VCF), a 4-pole, resonant low-pass filter that can self-oscillate, and a 2-pole, resonant high-pass filter.

Use the TORAIZ AS-1 to create one-of-a-kind sounds using 2 VCOs, 2 VCFs, and VCA, 2 EGs and 1 LFO, then save each sound and its parameter settings as a program so you can instantly access it later.

The inspiring 495 preset programmes each have a different sound and 64-step sequence that can be edited separately. You can also save up to 495 of your own programmes in the 5 user banks.

Be creative with the Prophet-6-derived dual FX engine and use a single effect or pair 2 together to add extra texture to your sounds. FX includes Bucket Brigade Delay, Distortion, Ring Modulation, Chorus and Maestro Phaser.

The TORAIZ AS-1 will make sure your performance is in perfect harmony as you perform the sounds you create with the touchpad keyboard or change the notes assigned to the keys with Scale Mode.

Add dynamic changes to your performance by using the slider to manipulate.

Pioneer TORAIZ SQUID Sequencer:
Unlock limitless creativity with the SQUID multitrack sequencer. Part of the TORAIZ series of musical instruments and production equipment, this inspiration tool will be the heartbeat of your studio and live setups. The SQUID will control your workflow and give you the chance to develop new styles of music as you create unique sequence patterns and phrases at the touch of a button. Connect, sync and simultaneously control up to 16 instruments via its multiple input/outputs. The terminals are compatible with various equipment, from your DAW and hardware instruments to modular synths, vintage synthesizers and drum machines.

Perfect for on-the-fly music production, the layout and controls are effortless to navigate so your ideas will come to life the moment inspiration strikes. This production tool enables you to randomize sounds, sequences, and drums - all in key. Access endless polyrhythmic-looping options and instantly change the playback direction and speeds. With the world-first Groove Bend feature, you'll really feel the groove as you generate original rhythms in real time. And by controlling everything in one place, you can focus on developing phrases.

Have fun creating phrases by tapping the 16 multicolored LED rubber pads in the Step Edit section. Set step parameters and play live as if the pads were keys on a keyboard. Combine various sequence functions such as Interpolation and Harmonizer to help build your sounds.

Rearrange phrases you've created in the Step Edit section to craft your ideas the instant they spring to mind. Enhance your sounds with performance features, such as Running Direction, Speed Modulation, and Groove Bend.

The SQUID records performance information in the background so you'll never lose phrases you create accidentally. When you're experimenting and hear something you love, use the Time Warp feature to recall and save it as a sequence pattern for your next track.

The SQUID has a USB B terminal, MIDI terminals, 2 sets of CV/Gate outputs, and Clock and DIN Sync input/output terminals. This means you can combine the power of your DAW with modern, modular and vintage synths, as well as drum machines. Signals are converted automatically.

Quickly transfer sequence patterns, projects and Midi clips between the SQUID and your PC or Mac with the SQUID Manager function. Easily import a sequence pattern created on your DAW to the SQUID, instinctively arrange it using the sequencer's features, and return it to your DAW.

MIDI keyboard controller
Notes: At the core of GXP88 is a newly designed and carefully balanced keyboard action. Its 88 semi-weighted full-size keys with velocity and aftertouch deliver a nice, firm touch and great playability.

The GXP88 gives keyboard players all the right expression options needed for live and studio work, featuring pitch bend & modulation wheels, an expression pedal socket and a 1/4" TRS jack for connection of 2 footswitch pedals. The rear panel also includes a 5-pin MIDI out jack and an external power supply socket for powering the unit when not connected via USB.

When you want to hear yourself clearly on stage without all the noise that comes with it, MP Series In-Ear Monitors have got you covered.

The MP-240 keeps the same driver count but reaches the next level of detail and clarity thanks to its hybrid configuration. Instead of two dynamic drivers like the MP-220, this monitor swaps one out for a balanced armature driver and a custom crossover that splits the frequencies between the two drivers.

Hold on just a second, what does balanced armature mean?

This is a unique type of driver that is ultra-compact and offers incredible efficiency especially with mid to high frequencies. To keep the ample bass response while enhancing the clarity, we went with the hybrid design for the MP-240. This is the perfect combination. Punchy, accurate bass and beautiful mids and highs.

The MP-220 steps up the count with two dynamic drivers in each monitor. In addition to offering cleaner performance at higher levels, it allows the monitor to achieve higher efficiency evenly across the entire frequency range. Because you have twice the drivers taking care of the same job, they can resolve details and nuance in the sound much better, this also means increased bass which dynamic drivers are particularly good at.

USB audio interface
Notes: IK Multimedia proudly announces AXE I/O SOLO, a new entry in its range of AXE I/Or high-end guitar interfaces with advanced tone-shaping features.

Developed for guitar players who want to record the best possible sound on a budget or on the go, AXE I/O SOLO is a compact 2-in/3-out USB audio interface that features IK's high-end PURE microphone preamp; an instrument input with proprietary tone-shaping options; an exclusive Amp Out to incorporate real gear into a recording setup; and 24-bit, 192 kHz converters with a wide dynamic range, for pristine recordings in all musical genres.

AXE I/O SOLO can also act as a controller for use with IK's included AmpliTuber or other favourite guitar-friendly software, offering a complete, affordable solution for players who want the best possible tone for their tracks.

AXE I/O SOLO offers IK's high-definition, Class A PURE mic preamp, designed for transparent and clean recording. An extended, flat frequency response captures the full tonal range of voices and instruments without colouring the sound. A best-in-class dynamic range ensures ultra-quiet recordings.

Proprietary tone-shaping options let users dial in the perfect settings for their instruments or coax a wider range of tones from a single instrument:

First, an active & passive pickup selector adapts instantly to any instrument. The active channel bypasses unneeded gain stages, ensuring the signal is always as direct and uncoloured as possible.

Next, AXE I/O SOLO offers both a PURE circuit for pristine, transparent sound and a JFET circuit for adding warmth and harmonics, all within a single device.

Finally, IK's proprietary Z-Toner impedance-adapting circuit lets users adjust the input impedance to interact with their guitar's pickups: at the maximum impedance, sounds are tighter, sharper and more precise, and at lower impedances the sound becomes thicker and bolder.

These controls give guitars even more sonic character - with just a few minutes' experimentation, users can dial in a sound that perfectly fits the mix.

AXE I/O SOLO offers a streamlined re-amplification setup in a single box. A front panel Amp Out lets guitar and bass players incorporate real amplifiers and stompboxes without the need for an external conversion box. This low-noise out also eliminates ground loops, to keep even the highest-gain re-amplification as quiet as possible.

AXE I/O SOLO preserves the best-in-class dynamic range, ultra-low self noise and wide, extended frequency response of the original AXE I/O, ensuring premium sound quality for recording both instruments and vocals.

1/4" balanced outputs and a headphones out provide comprehensive connections, and a "blend" knob mixes direct and processed signal for zero-latency monitoring. In addition, AXE I/O SOLO also features two dedicated inputs for controller pedals and switches, plus MIDI In/Out, offering a range of options for real-time control over amp modelling plug-ins or recording software.

For seamless, out-of-the-box recording and processing, AXE I/O SOLO comes bundled with AmpliTube 4 Deluxe, IK's powerful guitar and bass tone studio for Mac/PC/iPhone/iPad, as well as a suite of T-RackS mixing & mastering plug-ins and Ableton Live 10 Lite recording software.

analogue synthesiser
Notes: Long-awaited analogue monster from Japan's Black Corporation, inspired by the rare RSF Polykobol II keyboard. Raw synth power with eight-voice analogue-based architecture. Stunning.

Supplier notes:
The unique architecture of KIJIMI features smoothly variable waveforms on each fully analog oscillator, a rich SSI2144 lowpass filter, and a wealth of deeply programmable modulators, making it one of the most powerful polyphonic analog synthesizers ever made.

KIJIMI features eight voices, each with two oscillators + one suboscillator, a lowpass filter, VCA, 6 envelopes, and 16 LFOs. A deeply programmable modulation matrix along with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch route these modulators into a variety of destinations to create anything from subtle movements in bass lines to complex, organically evolving soundscapes. Polyphonic aftertouch introduces another level of touch- controlled modulation independent to each voice, making KIJIMI a truly powerful performance tool.

Variable wave shaping of its analog oscillators is a feature unique to KIJIMI's synthesizer design. Rather than selecting a single waveform KIJIMI offers a range of waveforms from Triangle through Saw to Pulse waves, passing smoothly through every shape in between. Using modulation sources to control the oscillator waveform brings a new dimension to the sound sculpting process. Each oscillator can be modulated independently, detuned in semitone intervals and synced to each other, VCO2 can even be used to FM VCO and filter, bringing rich harmonic content to the initial tone.

KIJIMI's SSI2144-based lowpass filter is an updated version of a legendary design found in some of the most powerful analog synthesizers throughout history. Apart from being a gorgeous, rich lowpass filter for typical duties, a powerful feature found in the KIJIMI is the ability to FM the filter via VCO2, resulting in sounds ranging from atonal clangorous FX to aggressive vocal-sounding formants. The filter cutoff and resonance can be independently modulated, providing a filter section, which is far more complex than most analogue polyphonic synthesizers.

KIJIMI's two envelopes are set up in typical ADSR mode by default, but a CYCLE button can be switched on to enter a cycling trapezoidal mode reminiscent of the function generator found in the EMS Synthi. In this mode, the 4 parameters are instead used to control Rise, Time On, Fall, and Time Off, resulting in a uniquely controllable cyclic function. Each envelope also features 3 switchable speed modes ranging from fast, medium, or slow.

By default, KIJIMI features two powerful LFOs - Each with many selectable waveforms, rate, and a dedicated A/D envelope for modulating its rate on each new trigger. This means that each LFO can have its speed modulated on each new note independently of any other modulators across the synthesizer.

The modulation matrix in KIJIMI is what makes this instrument truly special: 8 destinations for each LFO, and 4 destinations for ADSR2, each with its own button to switch between Unipolar (+/-) or Bipolar modulation. Furthermore, the new firmware introduces the ability to assign different LFO settings (rate, waveform, EG and depth) to EACH individual destination. Below the Modulation Matrix are the performance modulators: Velocity and MPE- based polyphonic aftertouch which can be routed to 6 simultaneous destinations, each with its own bipolar level setting. With the ability to control filter, VCA, pitchbend, sub oscillator level, and 2 LFOs each modulating up to 8 destinations independently on each voice through your aftertouch performance, the expressive possibilities are truly limitless.

KIJIMI features full MIDI control and 10 preset banks with 128 slots including a Factory Bank and 9 user banks for storing and recalling settings.

analogue synthesiser
Notes: The Octave Cat isn't the best known synth that Behringer have turned their attention to, but it's well worth a look. Similar in approach to the Odyssey but with an even broader sonic range, going from warm and fat to tough and edgy.

Supllier notes:
Great care has been taken in engineering the CAT, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs that come together to recreate classic tones that are evocative of classic electronic music. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the CAT its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability. It gives you the ability to cover a lot of amazing tones from super-fat bass, tasty leads - and all the way to full on dreamy ambience from the far reaches of your imagination.

The synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1970s and 80s in progressive rock, wave and synth-pop have become classics and have inspired many other artists.

The CAT has the ability to accept any keyboard controller via MIDI. The signals generated can be tweaked via the Pitch Bend slider which can bend a note up or down one octave. Bump this up to two octaves by flipping the Octave Shift switch up or down. Use the Glide slider to change how fast a note transitions to another; up is faster, down is slower. Combine that with the LFO Freq slider to control the LFO and ADSR repeat tempo and you can create some amazing pulsating portamentos.

The very heart of the CAT's sound is its two VCOs. The Duophonic/Paraphonic nature of the CAT allows both oscillators to be controlled independently. Use the Fine and Coarse Frequency controls to tune VCO1 to VCO2. Keyboard control on the CAT can be set to either Mono or Poly. Poly mode lets VCO1 generate the highest note played on the keyboard while VCO2 handles the lowest allowing two notes to be played simultaneously. Setting the switch to Mono mode makes VCO1 generate the lowest note depressed on the keyboard.

Waveform switches on both VCOs allow different waveforms to be patched in from the LFO. Choose between Sine, Square, Sample and Hold and even pitch modulation through each VCO. Turning the Modulation Depth knobs in either direction controls the intensity of the effect. VCO2 also comes with a Sync switch that locks VCO1 with it and has them act as one huge oscillator to produce more complex waveforms and dramatic results. Mix VCO1 into VCO2 or vice versa and the CAT can produce some really tasty tones that make themselves at home in your next synth jam.

Each VCO on the CAT comes equipped with their own waveform sliders where you can adjust the volume of each type of VCO wave form. Pump up the Sub Octave, Sawtooth, Square, Triangle or Pulse waves or mix them all together and create some truly unique tones.

The CAT comes with another set of claws in the form of a VCF filter section. Here you can get more complex and robust tones by incorporating VCO1 into the mix. Introduce more waveforms and manipulate the Q slider to emphasize harmonics and Filter Cutoff slider which acts as a low-pass filter. Turn the CAT into a really funky bass machine or an out-of-this-world synth that creates some searing lead tones. You can even create some amazing drum sounds by manipulating the VCOs, VCF and ADSR.

The CAT features a whole slew of Inputs and Outputs that expand its capabilities beyond what you can see out of the box. You can route external control voltages to VCO1 or 2, the VCF and even pump in some external line-level audio into the CAT. You can even connect the CAT to other external synthesizers through the Gate, ADSR, AR or Keyboard Outputs. The CAT's 16-note Poly Chain function lets you combine multiple synthesizers for up to 16-voice polyphony - and it provides vastly improved reliability and stability over its 1970s and '80s predecessors.

To give the signal even more character, you can use the CAT's Transient Generator to create a detailed voltage transient every time a key is depressed. Adjust the Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release via the matching sliders and to shape your signal. The AR transient generator works similarly to the ADSR but with less detailed control over the envelope. You can also set the ADSR to automatically repeat or only when a key is held down. The Sample and Hold switch can be set so the VCO1 setting is sampled or, when set to Noise mode, produce a random output pattern. Slide the LFO Delay control up or down to determine when the LFO will reach its maximum output after a key is depressed.

The CAT has 47 controls, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation.

Notes: Inspired by the amazing Roland SH-101, Behringer's MS-1 is a peach of an analogue mono synth, excelling at deep, elastic basslines but also amazing for arps, leads and FX.

Supplier notes:
An ultra-affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer with all the features of the original and then some, such as a 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator and live performance kit, the MS-1-BK lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its 32 semi-weighted full-size keys, pure analog signal path, authentic 3340 VCO with 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms, plus extremely flexible VCF and VCA filters, the MS-1-BK is sure to become your favorite keyboard. Owning the MS-1-BK is like having your own personal time machine, enabling you to embrace the past - or make your imprint on the future!

Great care has been taken in engineering the MS-1-BK, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs, all of which combine to make it easy to recreate the classic sound performance. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the MS-1-BK its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects - and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

The MS-1-BK lets you recreate all of that magic - or design incredibly fat and original sounds.

The very heart of MS-1-BK's sound is its highly-flexible Voltage Control Filter (VCF), which includes faders for: cutoff Frequency (10 Hz to 20 kHz); Resonance (0 to self-oscillation); Envelope and Modulation depth, and Keyboard follow (0 to 100%) to dial in the perfect sound. MS-1-BK's VCF can be modulated via the ADSR, keyboard tracking and Bender controller. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob sets the depth, while the FM Source selector lets you further modify the signal by choosing from: pulse; sawtooth; sub oscillator 1 octave down; 2 octaves down; narrow 2 octaves down, and Noise.

MS-1-BK's Envelope generator features 4 ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release) faders that help you craft incredible sounds, and utilizes a 3-position switch for Gate, Gate + Trigger and LFO. When applied to the Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA), the ADSR envelope is used to control the level of the note being played over time. When applied to the VCF, the ADSR envelope is used to control the cut-off frequency of the filter for each note played over time. In addition, the ADSR envelope can also be used to affect the VCO pulse width modulation.

MS-1-BK's sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. Both the sequencer and arpeggiator in the MS-1-BK are fun, mesmerizing and totally addictive.

When you're ready to strut your stuff and get a little centerstage time, the MS-1-BK has that covered too! Just attach the included guitar strap and handgrip (with pitch bend wheel and a pitch modulation trigger), and take your performance to the next level.

In addition to the great sound-sculpting features already mentioned, the MS-1-BK has still more to offer. The noise generator can also be used as modulation source to create distortion-like effects, which will send your solo soaring into the stratosphere. Glide (portamento) lets you sweep seamlessly over time from one note to the next, creating smooth-as-silk transitions that few other instruments can emulate. MS-1-BK's Bender is also assignable to the VCO, VCF and pitch mod wheel on attachable handgrip. You can even modulate the pulse wave via the LFO, envelope or manually - for sounds ranging from mild to wild!

For those who want the numbers, MS-1-BK has 57 knobs, faders and switches, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. Input and output connections include: MIDI I/O and Thru over USB/MIDI DIN; Velocity Out; CV; Gate; External Clock In; VCF CV In; Hold; External Audio; Phones; and main Output.

Notes: Blue version of Behringer's tribute to the legendary Roland SH-101. Classic Roland-inspired 80s analogue sound with a gorgeously squelchy resonant filter and powerful oscillator with beefy sub.

Supplier notes:
An ultra-affordable homage to that iconic synthesizer with all the features of the original and then some, such as a 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator and live performance kit, the MS-1-BU lets you conjure up virtually any sound with incredible finesse and ease. With its 32 semi-weighted full-size keys, pure analog signal path, authentic 3340 VCO with 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms, plus extremely flexible VCF and VCA filters, the MS-1-BU is sure to become your favorite keyboard. Owning the MS-1-BU is like having your own personal time machine, enabling you to embrace the past - or make your imprint on the future!

Great care has been taken in engineering the MS-1-BU, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs, all of which combine to make it easy to recreate the classic sound performance. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the MS-1-BU its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects - and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

The inspired synthesizer tracks laid down in the 1980s and '90s are etched in the annals of progressive rock, wave, EDM and synth-pop music forever, making them truly classic in every sense of the word. The MS-1-BU lets you recreate all of that magic - or design incredibly fat and original sounds that will make you a legend in your own right!

MS-1-BU's authentic 3340 Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) provides an incredible range of 4 simultaneously-mixable waveforms for sculpting the perfect sound. Options include: saw, triangle, square/pwm and octave-divided square sub-oscillator. Additionally, the VCO can be adjusted across a wide, 4-octave range (16', 8', 4', and 2'). This amazing flexibility gives you the tools needed to be your creative best.

The very heart of MS-1-BU's sound is its highly-flexible Voltage Control Filter (VCF), which includes faders for: cutoff Frequency (10 Hz to 20 kHz); Resonance (0 to self-oscillation); Envelope and Modulation depth, and Keyboard follow (0 to 100%) to dial in the perfect sound. MS-1-BU's VCF can be modulated via the ADSR, keyboard tracking and Bender controller. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob sets the depth, while the FM Source selector lets you further modify the signal by choosing from: pulse; sawtooth; sub oscillator 1 octave down; 2 octaves down; narrow 2 octaves down, and Noise.

MS-1-BU's sequencer allows you to program up to 32 steps of notes and rests and save them as a pattern. You can record, save and recall up to 64 patterns, all of which can be stored in the 8 banks, each holding up to 8 patterns. Your sequences can be played either in Keyboard mode, where you create and store the pattern, or Step mode, which allows you to interact while composing a pattern. The onboard Arpeggiator features 8 patterns (you can use just by playing a chord, which the arpeggiator then sequences through your selected pattern.
