Open Your Soul (O Phase remix) (7:02)
Mind Over Matter (Adiel remix) (6:53)
Alpha State (Viels remix) (6:53)
Echo Chamber (Svarog remix) (5:30)
Review: Dynamic Reflection has curated another selection of top class remixes of Abstract Division's 'Midnight Ensemble' and pressed it up to marbled vinyl. First up is Phase O who flips 'Open Your Soul' into a full steam ahead but stripped back and smooth techno bouncer, while the Adiel remix of 'Mind Over Matter' is 100 miles an hour and perfectly frictionless deep techno. Viels brings more cavernous bass and sparse atmospheres to his remix of 'Alpha State' and 'Echo Chamber' (Svarog remix) closes down with a rather haunting vibe and ghostly pad work.

Metropolis (7:17)
Metropolis (Trolley Route remix) (6:35)
Metropolis (Function remix) (5:54)
Metropolis (Marcel Fengler remix) (6:09)
Review: Dutch label Dynamic reflection continues to go from strength to strength with their latest offering from Abstract Division, the power duo comprised of label boss paul Boex and Dave Miller. The original of "Metropolis" is a nice slice of soulful melodic techno that fans of Heiko Laux or Vince Watson will be all over. The first thing you may think then listening to the Trolley Route mix is it sounds like Oscar Mulero; it is and the remix adopts his trademark hypnotic take on things. It all gets more hectic on the accompanying big gun remixes from Function and Marcel Fengler; Dave Sumner's pounding yet atmospheric version is all you'd expect, but he keeps the lush melody of the original intact and it works well. Fengler's rendition delivers exactly what he's renowned for in the form of energised, peak time minimal; just the way it should be!

Modal Realism
Modal Realism (Psyk remix)
Solitude
Review: Dave Miller and Paul Boex's Abstract Division project has been increasingly impressing with its approach to warm, enveloping deep techno, and this third instalment in their series on Dynamic Reflection serves only to bolster that reputation with further forays into the undulating hinterland of dubbed out constructions. "Modal Realism" is all nervy chords and confident bass throbs, while still kicks it tough and dependable, while "Solitude" invites you in with the glow of delicate pads over whispering beats in a decidedly mellow situation. Psyk's remix leans towards a fuller, more pristine production level that surges forth with techno intent for a thoroughly floor friendly weapon.

Magnitude
Review: Resurfacing earlier this year with the Time & Perception 12", Dutch pair Abstract Division further refined their endeavours to align their homeland with Germany when it comes to the harder end of the techno spectrum, throwing in a killer Shifted remix to boot. Part two of the Time & Perception series now arrives and like that inaugural plate it sees Paul Boex and Dave Miller pair three of their increasingly impressive original productions with a well chosen high profile remixer (Jonas Kopp) Abstract Division's capacity for thrusting techno sculpted from monolithic, foundation bothering rhythmics is apparent from the off and is executed most confidently on the alien oscillations of "Transmutations".

Fierce Tension (Shifted remix)
Comprehend
Collision
Review: Paul Boex's Dynamic Reflection imprint is continually growing in calibre with each release. Time & Perception Part 1 is the labels 16th title and fifth for Abstract Division, a collab between Boex and Dave Miller. The EP opens with "Fierce Tension", which sees the duo bury their siren-sounding synths into a condensed wall of sinister force, while Shifted's booming and reverb heavy remix annihilates much of the originals musicality, it unrelentingly bores a war path of linear techno championed by the likes of DVS1. On the flip, "Comprehend" is like being caught in a wind storm of flying bolts, rust and ripped roofing, while the EPs ambient track "Collision" squeaks and gurgles like a alien trapped at the bottom cave in a Ridley Scott film.

Techno
Review: For the third instalment of their Form & Function series, Abstract Division deliver "Deformation", a no-nonsense chunk of pulsating warehouse techno, held together with little more than a firm bassline and stiff kick drum. As with the previous releases, heavyweight remix support is offered; Mike Parker's reworking takes the original's throbbing bassline and inverts its energy into a flutter, whilst Norman Nodge's rework highlights the original's rattling snares, turning the bassline into a subtle undercurrent, whilst a serrated rattle builds slowly underneath. Finally Area Forty One offers the most radical revision of all, adding an array of silky pads which deliver some impressive melodic ambience.

Function - "Give Thanks To The Sun" (9:24)
Viels - "Fragile" (6:20)
Abstract Division - "Convolution" (6:49)
DOM - "Oye" (5:22)
Review: Dynamic Reflection remains a steadfast platform for 'proper' techno with something to say. Since 2008 they've been pushing artists to match dancefloor functionality with original ideas, and so the story continues on this latest VA release. Veritable legend Function steps up first with the tense, restrained arp odyssey of 'Give Thanks To The Sun', while label regular Viels jumps in next with the ironically titled tough-trucking workout 'Fragile'. Abstract Division kick off the B-side with the sizzling, rippling 'Convolution' (not to be confused with the Skudge track of the same name), and DOM completes the picture with a teasing, broken rhythm and psychoactive frequencies of the highest calibre.
