Review: Sonic Force look north for inspiration and invite longstanding Finland junglists Aeon Four over for some for breakbeat choppage carnage. Building on their consistently firesome body of work on ODJ Dizzy's Straight Up Breakbeat, we're instantly zoomed off to space on the Nookie-like 'Dreamlab', we're pummelled into submission by the relentless slaps of 'Amalgam Funk' and given a lesson in law, cosmic jazz and murderation on 'Heaven Spots'. Last but not least 'Quantize Humanity' closes the show with a horn heaving call to adventure. Big percussive brush strokes and a murky, heady feel, you can be your bottom dollar this will be played at Rupture in the near future, if it hasn't already.

Review: Longstanding Finnish pair Aeon Four serve up never less than crucial drum & bass weaponry on the always vital Finnish label Straight Up Breakbeat. As plays the pair explore a range of different moods and grooves within a contemporary drum & bass framework. Opener 'Tremor' is a floaty light groove that is filled with airy hi hats to start, then dark and heavy bass arrives later on. There is a real raw heart-of-the-rave intensity to 'Reflector Dub' and its hardcore breaks, then 'Intercept' manages to pair celestial keys and lush chords with another drilling riddim that pins you to planet earth. Closer 'Hold Water' is a fun closer with a hefty low end wobble.

Review: Crucial power jams from longstanding Finnish duo on thriving Finnish jungle imprint, Aeon Four are a perfect fit on Straight Up Breakbeat. Four cuts in total, each one explores a different side of the spectrum. Opener "Silence" praises the rave and the hardcore elements, "Essence" smacks of that authentic Goodlooking feel with its pads while "Lion Awakes" takes a well known vocal for a classic jungle feel. Last but not least "Babylon" closes with the ruffest card of the hand as happy slapping breaks keep us running to the very edge.
