Techno
Raso (4:31)
Decoro (5:47)
Punto In Aria (6:25)
Review: This time last year, Rome-based DJ/producer Adiel joined forces with fellow Italian techno heavyweight Donato Dozzy to deliver the first collaborative release on her Danza Tribale label. 12 months on she's back with another joint effort, this time in cahoots with Northern Electronics artist Anthony Linell. The pair conjure feverish, mind-altering aural textures, psychedelic acid motifs and restless drums on opener "Raso", before opting for a denser and arguably even more intense, moody and throbbing techno sound on "Decoro". Arguably best of all, though, is flipside "Punto In Aria", a surging fusion of chugging industrial bass, ghostly chords, metallic sounds and foreboding, brain-melting bass.

Mattias El Mansouri & Dorisburg - "Galapagos" (7:57)
Anthony Linell - "Track 2" (7:01)
Review: Mattias El Mansouri and Dorisburg pair up to get things started on the A-side with 'Galapagos' layering up a hooky lead synth motif with persuasive drums that rock back and forth and carry you away to the stars. It's a gorgeously slow burning set-builder or 5am wig-out classic. Anthony Linell's 'Track 2' then occupies the whole of the flip with rich layers of sustained pads, the distance sound of a train on a track and a deft percussive sprinkle that brings the whole thing to life in hypnotic fashion.

Techno
Illusion Self (8:58)
Sky Crash Over Me (7:12)
Just To Feel Anything (6:35)
Review: Anthony Linell lands on Northern Electronics with exactly the sort of stylish techno we have come to expect from this label. There is real power in these productions from the off as the opening cut 'Illusion Self' fizzes with synth texture that will frazzle the brain as the heavy drums march on. 'Sky Crash Over Me' then weaves its way through a techno undergrowth with snaking basslines and elongated synth liens all meandering along to make for a heady trip then 'Just To Feel Anything' goes down a darker path with an eerie late-night vibe and menace in the creeping bassline.

Dissolution Process (10:09)
Falling Into Form (6:20)
The Increased Difficulty Of Breathing (6:27)
Review: Anthony Linnel returns on his Northern Electronics imprint for its 86th release with 'Dissolution Process', a mental techno workout that seems rather typical of the material played during the Swedish producer's intense DJ sets. Over on the flip, more cerebral tackle is on offer with the tunnelling sounds of 'Falling Into Form' intertwined in layers of complex synth textures to truly psychedelic effect, and closing it out with the strobe-lit frenzy of 'The Increased Difficulty Of Breathing' which reaches near tribal moments.

Techno
Crystal Storms (6:30)
Core Field Horizon (5:26)
Evaporating Entities (7:30)
Not Present (Aeterna) (4:50)
Review: Releasing an EP right at the end of the year is becoming something of a tradition for Northern Electronics founder Anthony Linell. This time last year we waxed lyrical about his "Sculpting Energy" EP and we're about to do the same for this belated follow-up. He begins in forthright but spaced-out fashion via "Crystal Storms", where buzzing motifs and echo-laden electronics fizz away above a thrusting big room techno groove, before wrapping angular, modular style riffs and creepy electronics around a hybrid techno/electro groove on "Core Field Horizon". Linell opens side B by peppering a deeper techno rhythm with gently pulsing chords and blissful, dream house style melodies ("Evaporating Entities"), while closing cut "Not Present (Aeterna)" is a clanking, off-kilter slab of mind-altering techno hypnotism.

Sculpting Energy
Cat: NE 56. Rel: 13 Dec 18

Techno
Therme (5:58)
Sculpting Energy (6:16)
Scattered Across (7:45)
Vision Of The Imminence (4:52)
Review: It would be fair to call Anthony Linell prolific. As one of the best, well-regarded solo acts since 2011 and founder of Northern Electronics, he's already released a trio of acclaimed albums, as well as a couple of tidy EPs all the while dishing out deep, subtle and highly textured music from his imprint. Here he ends 2018 on a high via an EP of floor-focused, modular-sounding techno workouts. There's much to admire across the four tracks, from the melancholic melodic movements, fizzing sci-fi effects and foreboding drumbeats of "Vision of the Imminence", to the dense industrial motifs and thunderous beats of peak-time slammer "Sculpting Energy". Arguably best of all, though, is opener "Therme", a hypnotic and mind-altering blast of foreboding and paranoid, off-kilter techno in which psychedelic TB-303 flourishes, spacey chords and electro-influenced drums combine to memorable effect.

5 Years Of Danza Nativa Pt I

Techno
Anthony Linell - "Ice Demon"
Claudio PRC - "Resina"
Luigi Tozzi - "Kamayuk" (version)
Daniel I - "Beneath Tension"
Review: Danza Nativa has done a great job of establishing its own unique sound in the techno sphere over the last half a decade. Now it marks the occasion of its fifth birthday with a two-part compilation that showcases its avant-garde take on the genre. They tell us that part one has been assembled as a sort of "mental (as in pensive, not deranged) techno album that takes the form of some direct tools for working DJs. Anthony Linell, Claudio PRC, Luigi Tozzi and Daniel[I] are those who step up and explore abstract, drone, deep and plenty in between.
