Indub (Luigi Tozzi remix) (6:48)
Atoms Speak (RRoxymore remix) (6:05)
Moth Lines (Mattheis remix) (7:51)
Review: Delsin mainstay BNJM's last album Hypnagogia gets remixed by an interesting crew for this one. The ever deep German Efdemin goes for a smooth and serene techno atmosphere that's detailed with deft cosmic pads, and Luigi Tozzi channels classic Berlin dub techno on his icy yet warm take on "Inbdub." RRoxymore keeps things just as subtle but soothing on a dreamy late night and pad laced take on "Atoms Speak" while Mattheis traps you in a state of astral trance on his lush remix of "Moth Lines" which is as delicate and floaty as the insect it is named after.

Droid (6:11)
Droid (Inland remix) (6:04)
Droid (Cassegrain remix) (6:15)
Review: BNJMN's take on techno has never been fixed, though in recent times he's happily been focused on the more robust, forthright end of the style. Droid neatly fits into this category, with the track sitting somewhere between the dust-encrusted, distorted sound favoured by the likes of L.I.E.S and Lobster Theremin, the end-of-days intensity of Berceuse Heroique's output, and good old-fashioned techno funk. It fizzes, clanks and throbs in all the right places, with just the right amount of metallic pressure and mind-bending electronic chicanery. The accompanying remixes are strong, too. There's a bouncy, surging interpretation from Inland that should please all those who like 'no nonsense' techno, and a pulsating, EBM-influenced interpretation from Cassegrain.

Review: BNJMN rose to prominence as a house producer with those LPs for Rush Hour's Direct Current series, but this mini-album for Delsin sees him straying further down an experimental path than before. "P-Tr" is a cold, glacial bleep techno cut, while "Womb" sees him lay down a linear, heads-down groove. Elsewhere, he departs from the dance floor as he displays eloquently on the noisy tones of "1987" and the tranced out, classical melodies of "Oder". But BNJMN remains a dance floor producer at heart and nowhere is this more audible on "Microgravity". A rumbling, gritty workout, it connects his house heritage with his experimental techno present.

Review: Since adopting the BNJMN guise, UK producer Ben Thomas has graced a fairly impressive list of labels with his intricately sculpted brand of techno, and there's a definite sense that his best work is done when aligned with a Dutch label. After all, it was Rush Hour's excellent Direct Current series that brought BNJMN to wider attention with the classic Plastic World album from 2011. Having previously contributed a production to Delsin's 100DSR compilation series last year, the now Berlin-based BNJMN is granted a debut proper with the six track EP Coil. Spend some time with the EP and you'll come to the conclusion it's a confident assessment of everything BNJMN is capable of producing, with the pulsing, mind bending techno of the title track followed by more contemplative moments and some good old fashioned wall shakers.

Hummingbird (Xamiga remix)
Review: Last seen dabbling in some Ballard referencing song based material as Singing Statues, UK producer Ben Thomas returns to the more familiar BNJMN guise and the label for whom he's arguably done his best work with this Hummingbird EP for Rush Hour. Seemingly directly inspired by the humble hummingbird, the three original tracks here demonstrate a wide appreciation of tempos, with the glistening 140bpm techno of the title complemented by the shifting, sludgy sonics of "Slowwave". The final BNJMN production "CRVD" feels closest to previous BNJMN material, whilst the title track is blessed by the first ever Xamiga remix from Lowlands forest techno exponents Legowelt and Xosar.

Minus One
Shadow
Unrest
Review: Whilst most people will have discovered the masterful productions of BNJMN via last year's still quite stunning sounding Plastic World album on Rush Hour's Direct Current label, the producer actually debuted on the Amsterdam label prior to that with a blink and you'll miss it Unknown white label. Dangerously prolific in the period since Plastic World, BNJMN marks his first material of 2012 with a second Unknown release for Rush Hour. This three track release finds BNJMN in precision driven rhythm form, with the opening production "Minus One" a sparse techno arrangement of rubbery basslines, gloopy drum sounds and frosty synths. This canny marriage of innate melodies with other worldly techno patterns continues on the flip with the gradual soar of "Shadow", whilst the multi textured "Unrest" wouldn't sound out of place on the Mathematics imprint.

Nightvision
Nightvision (Andy Scott remix)
Review: Fledgling imprint Stolen Kisses impressed with a debut 12" that saw Hakim Murphy drop some heat and get reworked by Santiago Salazar. They follow that up with a release that demonstrates the label knows their onions when it comes to refined dancefloor material from this side of the Atlantic too, securing a production from the rising talent that is BNJMN and getting Modern Love's Andy Stott to remix it. "Night Vision" arrives in-between BNJMN's debut album Plastic World and a soon to be released follow up for the Rush Hour Direct Current series, though this track finds the South Coast producer in a more playful mood. Thick, gloopy analogue rhythms bubble amidst typically rich detailed production nuances that are given the space to flourish by the skipping, sparse beat programming. Naturally, such an accessible track is the perfect challenge for someone like Stott, who squeezes all the lightness out amidst a crunching, dilapidated house bump that buries the drums far deeper than you'd think possible. Big tip!

Review: The Rush Hour Direct Current series continues apace, shifting the focus to our shores for the first time and delivering a startling full length album from young UK producer BNJMN. In a similar way that Lone's not-quite-an-album Emerald Fantasy Tracks drew nostalgic influences from 90s electronica but presented it in a fashion that was utterly contemporary, so does Plastic World. Across the ten tracks present, BNJMN draws reference from the early house and techno sounds that sprouted out of the UK, twisting them through the machine grind to become something so utterly compelling socks are quite figuratively blown off. The melancholic euphoria that runs through opening gambit "Blocks" have ensured it is the track that draws people in, but there is so much more here to discover, not least the mystical icy shards of techno throb that punctuate the upwards kaleidoscopic thrills of "See Through The Stars".

BNJMN - "Dive"
Delta Funktionen - "Petrol"
Herva - "Radio's Mutterings"
Bleak - "Keep Me Close"
John Beltran - "Return To Nightfall"
Review: Dutch label Delsin's 100th release celebrations continue, albeit in a typically understated fashion, on this fifth instalment. BNJMN's beautiful but brief opener "Dive" sets the scene for the release as does the dreamy but serene "Radio's Mutterings" by Herva. While the pace picks up on Delta Funktionen's "Petrol", a fusion of robust broken beats and dreamy chords, the overall tone here is mellow and melodic. This is audible on Bleak's "Keep Me Close", where dubbed out drums and a trancey bass prevail, and on the standout track from John Beltran. The US producer may be known primarily for his home-listening sounds, but on "Return to Nightfall" he copper-fastens his dreamy, melodic textures to a pulsing, hypnotic groove.

Review: Ed Davenport's Counterchange imprint is back with a label compilation that demonstrates a wide variety of techno derivatives by a stellar cast. From scene legends such as UK innovator Boddika (with his hypnotic and textural epic "Broken Wave)" and elder statesman Patrik Skoog with the functional, peak-time cyclicality of "Mind Control". For more heady and atmospheric flavours, they have you covered courtesy of Puglia's Distant Echoes on the utterly sublime "Under The Influence" while Acing Seas main men Cassegrain team up with the inimitable Tin Man on the heady acid epic "Opal Stare".The harder edged, dancefloor ready weapons are provided by label head honcho Davenport on the retro, bleep driven "Fluxus", while BNJMN's abrasive "Red Tide" hammers the message home on this true beast that reaches near tribal moments.
