Review: Puglia-based NICEPEOPLE return with a new one by Windy City veteran Boo Williams, who celebrates a very fine week with this release alongside the reissue of his classic 'The Undertaker' from '95. The LOL EP is Williams at his finest, with a nod to sounds of the past yet effective dance floor sounds from one of the heroes of the scene. From the boompty-shakin' party vibe of the title track, to the hypnotic electronic disco sounds of 'Backwards Run' on the A side, followed by 'Bangin Out' on the flip with its positive deepness - Williams delivers a stand out genre melding EP.

Deep House
  1. The Undertaker (6:35)
  2. Last Call (6:45)
  3. Kickin' (7:05)
  4. Feel The Drive (7:57)
Review: Boo Williams started Boo Moonman Records at the tail end of 2019 and it presents the label's fifth release here in the form of a much needed reissue. Features 'The Undertaker' with its frantic percolator jack which is a zeitgeist of The Windy City's hard house sound of the mid-90s made popular by Cajmere's Relief Records - the very label where the EP originally appeared. 'The Last Call' is exactly the kind of boompty deep house you've come to know and love from the legendary producer, as is the late night bangin' basement jam 'Feel The Drive' capturing the distinct zeitgeist of Chicago during its most seminal moment.

Deep House
  1. Track 1 (8:12)
  2. Track 2 (6:42)
  3. Track 3 (6:33)
Review: Chicago veteran Boo Williams has put out almost as many records as his good friend Glenn Underground, and almost all of them are high-class. His latest limited-edition missive is, somewhat predictably, another gem. Opener "Tribulation" is sweet and spacey, with Williams wrapping fizzing, techno-tempo drums and bubbly bass in intergalactic synths sounds and chords so emotive you might start blubbing on the dancefloor. It comes accompanied by a deeper, acid-flecked flipside dub that also boasts some exciting new synth solos (track three) and a slightly slower, but no less energetic or musically positive, bonus cut called "Mental State". Predictably, this is every bit as alluring as the EP's other tracks.

The Big Score
Cat: SJUEXT 001. Rel: 10 Nov 16
Deep House
  1. The Big Score (8:10)
  2. The Big Score (The GU reprise Score) (7:47)
Review: Chicago veteran Boo Williams made his first appearance on Glenn Underground's Strictly Jaz Unit Muzic label way back in 2008. Surprisingly, this is the prolific producer's first appearance on the imprint since 2009. "The Big Score" was worth waiting for. The track, nestled on the A-side, sees Williams lace a snaking saxophone line and "Inner City Blues" style pianos over a bongo-rich, densely layered deep house drums. It subtly builds throughout, with the thrilling sax solo increasing in intensity as the track progresses. On the flip, Glenn Underground offers his own 'Reprise' interpretation, ratcheting each of the elements up a notch and putting further emphasis on the piano parts.
