Review: The so far excellent Lifeforms label keeps up its good momentum with a monstrous new electro 12" from Chupacabras. The textures of 'Return' are insanely crunchy and the synths fizzy as sleazy electro beats pump out an industrial rhythm. Weirdly, 'Coarse Encounter' is a little less rough around the edges but bumps on a coruscated bassline. There is intergalactic tension and brain frying fuzz to 'Winter', 'Sidewalk' is a manic drum workout with all manner of bleeps and squeaks and 'Bury Me' is another caustic explosion of analogue texture before 'Head On' closes with tortured leads and more bumpy kicks.

Review: London-based Texan via Spain, Chupacabras continues to ramp up his ice cold output with another clutch of neck-snappers. Raw analogue funk from start to finish, the EP takes off where his L.I.E.S EP left us as 'No End' kickstarts the collection of thumping electro and brutalist grooves with a Black Strobe-like bass wobble and tempestuous drums. It's backed up by the robotic motion and gritty sheen of 'Growing Pains', the b-boy style drums of 'Basic Programm' and the final heave-ho of the set: 'Down My Spine', an overdrive dark electro jam you could just as easily picture Dave Clarke playing it as you could DJ Stingray. Savage.

Review: Madrid's Go! Finger is the latest label to make the migration from cassette to vinyl with their debut 12" featuring music from their last tape! Brooklyn selector Chupacabras no doubt made links with the Go! Finger founders during his time in Barcelona, spending four years in the Spanish city "sweating it out in the underground illegal party scene" before becoming a resident at Sala Neon. All the tracks on I See Light are culled from the Forgotten tape released on Go! Finger last year with two Chupacabras cuts backed by remixes from Legowelt and Willie Burns. Those two names are probably reason enough for many to investigate but don't make the mistake of glossing over the wonderfully strange original version of "I See Light" from Chupacabras, which pairs strange wind instrument with an insistent raw techno groove.
