Review: Opening their doors every Saturday for mind-altering shock treatment, Power Station has been giving their raging punters a potent dose of megawatt reality. Their curatorial expertise has established an institution that will now extend the mythical energy generated with a record label in the form of annual limited 12"/digital compilations, grouping tracks that have already become the club's signature tunes. Resident, booker and co-founder Kris Baha finds himself on both sides of the inaugural disc, with the ball of confusion solo production 'Something Something, and again as Heavy Concern in collaboration with Otologic's Nick Murray, a name synonymous with the Melbourne club circuit being one quarter of the Animals Dancing massive. Young gun Disrute captures the optimum warm up set with the shape shifting slow burner 'Ka-Bu' while scene veteran and Haul Music boss Mike Callander discovers a new lab mutation of sci-fi soundtrack, damaged funk and cerebral house.

Review: Strap in for a ride into the cosmos on this new one from five fine sonic astronauts on Pure Space Recordings. Point Guard is the one who takes care of lift off with "Odyssey", a slippery and shiny electro trip with real depth. Andy Garvey and Disrute take a wilder ride with a rugged bassline rising and falling over crispy drums on"NRG". PMA opens the flip side with atmospheric cut "Hek" that brims with sci-fi sound design and an uneven but compelling drum line, before Roy Mills closes out with the taut, kinetic energy of "Aquatic Pressure".

Review: Proving it's still not safe to hit the streets of Melbourne after dark, Power Cuts are at it again with even more dodgy dealings from shady punks with drum machines and synthesisers. Siaubaus' "Haunted White Paper" is as schlocky a slice of wave-esque 80s beatdown as you could ever wish for, while label boss Kris Baha offers up a particularly crusty vision of acid house. On the B side, Disrute edges towards an industrial, new beat tinted workout that's all about the rasping drum hits above all else. Dane//Close finish the EP off with "ForJorge", an angular, mechanical piece with hidden depths folded into the production.
