Em Vee Edits (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: RNT 045. Rel: 06 Mar 19
Disco/Re-Edits
  1. You Move Me (6:30)
  2. Spreading Energy (5:51)
  3. Don't Be Sabi Say (5:32)
  4. I Wish I Knew The Words (5:30)
Review: Last year, Marcel Vogel dusted down his Em Vee edit alias for the first time in three years, serving up a tasty four-pack of reworks for OYE's ongoing Edits series. It clearly inspired him to make more reworks, because now he's popped up on Razor-N-Tape with another fine selection of scalpel revisions. He begins by reworking a tongue-in-cheek chunk of disco silliness rich in spacey Moog lines and wonky vocals ("You Move Me"), before tweaking and rearranging a superb chunk of Latin-tinged tropical disco ("Spreading Energy"). "Don't Be Sabi Say" is a high-tempo chunk of Afrobeat/Afro-disco fusion full of ear-catching Nigerian vocals and bustling electric piano riffs, while "I Wish I Knew The Words" is a cheeky revision of an obscure Japanese synth-boogie number.

Oye Edits 007 (marbled vinyl 12" limited to 300 copies)
Cat: OYEEDIT 007. Rel: 17 Apr 18
Disco/Re-Edits
  1. Movin' (4:50)
  2. Groovin' (4:35)
  3. Lovin' (4:49)
  4. Talkin' (5:12)
Review: OYE finally chow down into 2018 for the first time with this delicious four-track serenade from Marcel Vogel under his lesser-spotted Em Vee guise. As you'd expect from the lumberjack from hell, each piece is a supreme refix that belies your standard edit tags. From the sleazy bluesy twangs and garage vocal cries of "Groovin" to the righteous Pablovian skanks and spoken word of "Talkin", this tickles so many spots you'll be counting them for months. Oye oye!

Editor's Kutz #5 Part 2 (purple vinyl 12")
Cat: EDITORSKUTZ 005PT2 . Rel: 09 Sep 15
Disco/Re-Edits
  1. Horizonte (JKriv rework) (5:52)
  2. Space Traveler (Riccio rework) (6:08)
  3. Baby Doll (The Noodleman rework) (7:39)
  4. Dance The Blues Away (Em Vee edit) (5:55)
Review: Given the talent on display, you'd expect this second Editor's Kutz #5 12" to be rather good. It is, of course, with all four tracks hitting the mark. J Kriv steps up first, layering sweet strings, blissful guitar solos and sparkling synthesizers over a beefed-up jazz-funk groove. Riccio weighs in with the similarly hazy, stoner rock era blue-eyed soul revision "Space Traveller", before The Noodleman loops up acoustic guitars, baggy vocals and twittering flute solos on his house-not-house take on "Baby Doll". Finally, Amsterdam-based bad man Marcel Vogel dons his EmVee guise to drop a heavy chunk of stripped-back, sax-laden disco-house in the shape of EP highlight "Dance The Blues Away".
