Swimmin' Wit' Sharks (6:42)
We Are The Future (6:35)
A Taste (6:22)
Swimmin' Wit' Sharks (dub) (7:19)
Review: One of Chicago house most unique and salty tousled producers, Gemini's music will always be well regarded. It gets reissued every so often to prove that fact and always sells out as no one made house as intensely emotive and rhythmically fresh as him. This EP previously appeared on Classic shortly before he stepped out of the fray and it's not hard to hear the signs of his mental health struggles to come in the playful lyrics of the title track, but throughout the EP is the evidence of what a gifted house artist he really was. From the playful, bubbly bounce of the lead track to the heads down low end trip 'A Taste', this is essential, still.

Get Down (6:08)
A Tight Grip (6:53)
Turn Da Music (6:46)
Ca (8:49)
Review: Spencer Kincy AKA Gemini reissues this much loved EP from 1999, setting the tone via the freewheeling title track, a mutant form of jazz-flecked Chi-town "boompty" of the sort that Derrick Carter used to release, before unfurling the jumpy, rag-time jazz-house hedonism of 'A Tight Grip'. 'Turn Da Music' is a loopy, thick set and bass-heavy disco-house workout, while 'Ca' is a chunky, organ and sub-bass-heavy mid-set wriggler.

The Beginning (4:57)
Floating (4:40)
Klonopin (6:29)
Klonopinless (6:28)
Review: Spencer Kincy takes us back to 94 as part of his four EP series that documents the first run of Gemini EPs on Green Velvet's seminal Relief Records imprint. Still as ahead of their time as they were almost 25 years ago, "The Beginning" is wildly off grid, loose and insanely funky while the rest of the EP gradually morphs into breath taking technoid experiments "Floating" takes a high NRG feel with its looping insistency "Klonopin" and its edited sibling "Klonopinless" offer a full physical sensation with their brazen hypnotic loopiness. Watch out for the other remaining three...

U Know How I Feel (5:29)
Festival (4:58)
Your Place Or Mine (4:04)
For Love (7:39)
Review: Pure Cajual gold as Another Day release Spencer Kincy's one of four Gemini EPs on Relief. As with most of these early EPs (and his legendary sets) Kincy kicks off with a warm, deep number (the Nina Simone sampling beauty "U Know How I Feel") before feeding us to the Chicago lions... "Festival" is a relentless loopy jacker laced with carnival vocals, "Your Place Or Mine" plays tempo tricks with the mind before "For Love" closes with a hypnotic stomp that pays homage to the icy futurist charms of electro but with added concrete drums. Grab this before they all disappear!

Track 3 (6:05)
Review: More seminal material by the legendary Spencer Kincy aka Gemini up for grabs once again courtesy of the newly created Another Day imprint out of London. As before, this release has been licensed directly from the man himself, so unlike some other reissues out there, the money made from its exploitation will go directly to him. Originally released in 1995 on Curtis Jones' Cajual Recordings, this one has been a favorite among those in the know for sometime. Starting off with the woozy Afro house of "Untitled I", the wicked jack of "Untitled II" is probably more familiar to most others as the Gemini sound. On the flip, "Untitled III" is a raw and stripped back drum track/DJ tool.

How Can I
How Can I (12")
Cat: RECYC 002. Rel: 27 Feb 17

Deep House
How Can I (Richard Sen remix) (9:23)
How Can I (original mix) (6:19)
How Can I (Richard Sen Old School mix) (5:16)
Review: We can think of few more qualified to remix Gemini's tasty, jazz-flecked Chicago jacker "How Can I" - first released back in 1999 on Cyclo's legendary Revolutions compilation - than Richard Sen. His knowledge of classic Chicago house is up with the best of them, and he duly puts that to good use on two tidy reworks. Both replace the original's low-slung jazz bass sample with a tougher, wonkier, acid-inspired bassline, throwing in undulating TB-303 lines, wonky electronics and snappy drum machine percussion. Of the two new interpretations, it's the slightly more sparse Old School Mix - an altogether rougher, raw revision - that's arguably the highlight. Gemini's brilliant original version is also included.

4321 (6:26)
Jungle Life (6:03)
Monday To Wednesday (6:48)
Review: More unearthed rarities by the Windy City legend Spencer Kincy courtesy of French label Cyclo with The Lost EP. On the A side, we've got the rolling "4321" which features some immaculate drum programming on a simple yet effective groove. On the flip, "Jungle Life" is dark, deep, tripped out.. techno, we'd say! Similar to experiments of the time by fellow Chicagoan Green Velvet; this one was mental! Finally, there's a moment of absolute deepness by the man in the form of the smooth and emotive "Monday To Wednesday". While there certainly are stories going around regarding what happened to Kincy, we'd urge you to focus less on the rumours and to enjoy his wonderful musical legacy instead. Timeless stuff!

Shadowland EP

Deep House
Log In (5:45)
Shadowland (5:38)
The Wave (6:20)
Motion (7:09)
Review: There is not much more to say about Chicago's Gemini apart from the fact that he was a true house legend who, until recently, remained largely in the deep underground of the city's music, and has inspired a new generation of producers. Sadly, although he's still kicking about somewhere in the States, the man doesn't make music anymore. However, it's difficult to say whether he could have done much more these days, given how futuristic and cutting-edge his music-making was back then, and how fresh and it still sounds today. For these reasons, Germany's Chiwax have reissued a number of his EP's by now, and Shadowlust is the latest in the series. Much like the previous instalments, these four cuts are classic Gemini delivering the pure house magic - from "Log In" to "Motion", the beats are swinging, the chords heavy and pads climactic. If you've copped the other recent reissues then this is a must, if you haven't even heard of Gemini then please do yourself a favour..!

Review: The sorely missed talent of Spencer Kincy left many an overlooked gem in his wake, most of which has been slowly getting re-released over time since he left the music business. This EP previously appeared on Classic shortly before he stepped out of the fray and its not hard to hear the signs in the playful lyrics of the title track, but throughout the EP is the evidence of what a gifted house artist he really was. From the playful, bubbly bounce of the lead track to the heads down low end trip "A Taste", this is as strong a selection of house cuts as you're likely to hear all year.

If You Go To Believe In Something
Joker
Don't U Know
Psychosis
Review: Chiwax inaugurate a series of ten planned releases from Mr Spencer Kincy aka Gemini with this timely reissue of one of the producer's most sought after releases. Quite where Kincy has been for the past 12 years or so isn't exactly clear but the potential prospect of some new Gemini material should be salivating for any self proclaimed fan of Chicago house. Traxx Vol 1 features all the tracks from Untitled, the EP Kincy released as Gemini on Cajual back in 1995 though not in the same order as that original pressing. Regardless, the chance to own the brilliant percussion workout that is "Joker" or the mind bending "Psychosis" should not be passed up.

Gemini - "A Trip" (5:11)
Gemini - "B Trip" (4:49)
Unit T - "Mystery Tones" (12:56)
Review: ***B-STOCK: Slight surface marks on the record, product in perfect working order***

The most sought-after release from the entire Sounds catalogue, Gemini and Unit T's 1995 release, 'Sideburns', finally gets a much-needed reissue. A1 track, 'Trip', is a prime example of deep house if there ever was one. An infectious, encircling melody meets the deep groove of the bassline to create a finished product that is in equal measure sun-soaked and cosmic. 'B Trip', the A2 track, is a gloriously shifted, off-beat reimagining of A1, pummeling percussion reverberates across the track, left alone to enjoy moments where everything is stripped back, before the body of the track returns. On the B-side, 'Mystery Tones' arrives with the kind of groove that instantly makes its way across dancefloors - a unifying track that feels precise in its simplicity, whilst still retaining exactly the right degree of looseness to get a crowd moving. This is a must-have record for any deep house aficionados, and you can now save yourself the hefty Discogs price tag!

Bugemini #1 (5:42)
Bugemini #2 (5:32)
Review: Well here's something no one expected from the annals of house music history. Back in 2000 a chance link up took place when Steve Bug invited the legendary Chicago producer Spencer Kincy, aka Gemini, to his studio in Berlin. Two tracks were laid down, and now after all these years they're finally seeing the light of day as Chiwax got the blessing from all relevant parties to press them up for our grooving pleasure. They're crisp, unfussy tracks which are perhaps less wild than a lot of Gemini-related projects, which no doubts speaks to Bug's well-known style, but there's a whole lot of vibe in these cuts whichever way you look at them.
