Review: Defected's Glitterbox off shoot is all about those classic cosmic sounds and OG disco deliciousness. The third volume of veritable Glitterbox Jams is another dazzling one with Melvo Baptiste opening up on a nice smoochy and smooth groove with sleek bass and vocals that immediately pull you in. Yusek then steps up with a remix that is more about dance floor heat, with ducking and diving bass and bigger everything - claps, vocals and stabs. Aeroplane then pull back to a slinky, cheeky vibe with catchy hooks and last of all is Sticks & Stonez & Liv East, a dreamy tune with a balmy mood.

Review: Here's something to stir the loins of any discerning disco DJ: a studio hook-up between veteran producer Felix Dickinson (fresh from his much-loved outing on Futureboogie Recordings), Horse Meat Disco and one-time DFA man (and renowned multi-instrumentalist) Marcus Marr. There's an additional contributor, too: a mystery (presumably big-name) vocalist whose talk-box heavy delivery sits somewhere between Prince, George Clinton and Pharrell. The track itself is something of a summer anthem in the making - an immaculately produced P-Funk jam with the additional benefit of a shuffling, house-friendly groove. No details on how many copies have been pressed; either way, you'd be well advised to snap up a copy while you still can.

Featuring the honeyed tones of Roy Inc, the glitterball ballad struck serious chords throughout the summer. And now come the all-essential remixes. The legendary Derrick Carter steps up with a slower take than his usual hard-jacking sound, soft-focus, soulful and weighing in at 12 minutes, it's a full-on trip. The HMD crew provide the flip version; a pumping dub with over-layered phonecall narratives, it's another fully immersive experience. Don't call them, they'll call you.

Review: Defected's throwback label Glitterbox continues to take us back to better, more camp and inclusive times with another belting disco single. This one is from the one and only Horse Meat Disco crew, who are one of the UK's most colourful and expressive outfits and always serve up impassioned sounds. 'Love If You Need It' is a big-hearted, glossy disco with star-studded production and a perfectly lush vocal. There are two big Mousse T remixes as well as a low slung rework from Mr Packer, who has his own fine album on the way. The pop-leaning, hip-swinging original will take some beating, though.

For the last two years, legendary London crew Horse Meat Disco has been teasing the release of its long-awaited debut album via a series of scintillating singles featuring guest vocals from the likes of Amy Douglas and, even more impressively, Kathy Sledge. Here they offer up their second collaboration with the legendary disco diva. "Jump Into The Light" is little less than a tribute to the Chic sound featured on the greatest Sister Sledge records, with Kathy Sledge delivering a typical fine lead vocal over Bernard Edwards style bass, Nile Rodgers-esque guitars and glittering orchestration. Over on side B there's a chance to enjoy Joey Negro's cut-down "Disco Blend" of previous single "Falling Deep In Love", which adds a little house flavour whilst retaining the crew's disco instrumentation.

Review: Horse Meat Disco has been promising a debut album for some time, but there are now signs that it might, at last, be on its way. Here they present their second high-profile single for Glitterbox - a superb collaboration with legendary disco vocalist Kathy Sledge. In its original form, "Falling Deep In Love" is the kind of groovy, string-laden, sing-along disco treat that sounds like it could have been written and produced by Chic greats Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. It's utterly ace, all told, and deserves to be one of the tracks of the summer. On the flip, Joey Negro offers up a "Disco Blend" that combines the quartet's original instrumentation and Sledge's fine vocal with slightly more weighty, house-style drums.

On their entry for the long-standing Back To Mine series Jamies Hillard, Jim Stanton, Luke Howard and Severino Panzetta take us deep into their collections for a blissful, soulful soundtrack to that cosy moment when we want to wind down after a big night out. There's still plenty of the groove-oriented magic we've come to expect from the crew, from Krivit editing Gwen McRae to Severino himself remixing Roisin Murphy, but as you'd expect this is also a voyage of discovery full of secret weapons, spread across two slabs of wax for your own mixing pleasure.

Review: Z Records founder Dave Lee continues to celebrate 30 years of his iconic house and disco label with an ongoing series of various artist EPs. The fourth instalment is another belter opened up by the boss himself in Disco Blend form. He serves up libidinous synths and steamy vocals that get you on your toes and then sinks into a smooth and seductive deep house mould for his remix of Mistura's 'Smile. On the flip, disco don The Revenge works his magic on a lush afro disco cut and then comes a The Reflex version of The Secret Life Of Us which has big strings and a tight rhythm section all bringing the sunshine.
