Boddika - "Broken Wave" (6:35)
Yogg - "Close Enough" (7:25)
Patrik Skoog - "Mind Control" (5:10)
Distant Echoes - "Under The Influence" (7:30)
BNJMN - "Red Tide" (6:41)
Inland - "Fluxus" (7:15)
Cassegrain & Tin Man - "Opal Stare" (5:37)
Pharaoh & Yogg - "The Great Attractor" (8:26)
Review: Ed Davenport's Counterchange imprint is back with a label compilation that demonstrates a wide variety of techno derivatives by a stellar cast. From scene legends such as UK innovator Boddika (with his hypnotic and textural epic "Broken Wave)" and elder statesman Patrik Skoog with the functional, peak-time cyclicality of "Mind Control". For more heady and atmospheric flavours, they have you covered courtesy of Puglia's Distant Echoes on the utterly sublime "Under The Influence" while Acing Seas main men Cassegrain team up with the inimitable Tin Man on the heady acid epic "Opal Stare".The harder edged, dancefloor ready weapons are provided by label head honcho Davenport on the retro, bleep driven "Fluxus", while BNJMN's abrasive "Red Tide" hammers the message home on this true beast that reaches near tribal moments.

Techno
Cassegrain & Tin Man - "Oxide" (6:04)
Inland - "Sca Fell" (6:20)
DVS1 - "Electric" (7:26)
Steve Bicknell - "Odyssey #2" (4:12)
Review: It seems Function is a fan of Cassegrain & Tin man material as he's just signed them up for his next release on Infrastructure New York. For this second Berghain 07 sampler, Function's appetite for boomy, acid techno is whetted by the collaboration's "Oxide". Meanwhile, former flatmate Ed Davenport, aka Inland, delivers "Sca Fell", a subaqueous workout that would get the Mike Parker seal of approval. DVS1 throws down some trademark warehouse beats with some caustic stabs to boot, while Steve Bicknell delves even deeper into the abyss than he did on the first sampler, with a track that's as menacing and frenetic as what Drexciya can be.

Review: Old flatmates Function and Ed Davenport (aka Inland) team up to deliver a two-track 12" of synthy techno that sounds like what Klaus Schultz and Kraftwerk might be making today if they were contemporary techno artists collaborating. You can really feel that Function is exploring his kosmische side of tonal and synth production on this release, while it's easy to assume that Inland, recently a proponent of dubby rhythm tracks, helps provide both pieces with a solid backbone, flecked with Function's trademark percussive sequences. Beginnings of a new project? We can only hope.

Hallen (6:31)
Spair (5:33)
Namsan (5:06)
Tower Hamlets (8:32)
Review: Ed Davenport returns under the Inland alias for a sturdy four-tracker here on Counterchange, which follows some great releases by Stefan Alexis, John Gurtler and Jan Miserre. Davenport kicks off the Namsan EP with the hypnotic groove cyclicality of 'Hallen', followed by the pummelling and strobe-lit warehouse techno of 'Spair' which closes out the A-side. Over on the flip, the futuristic overtone of the title track is underpinned by a dense rumble that will have you reaching for the lasers, followed by the punishing peak time onslaught of 'Tower Hamlets'.

Overpass (9:23)
Wayfinder (6:51)
Dromolaxia (7:03)
Review: Boddika's Nonplus continues to impress us with its ever evolving direction and surprising array of recruits that still remain in harmony with its modus operandi. After equally surprising yet undoubtedly great releases by Shlomi Aber and Eduardo de la Calle, Berghain and Infrastructure NYC regular Ed Davenport aka Inland steps up; and delivers the goods as always. "Overpass" is a full frontal peak time weapon that reflects his experience playing in the worlds best techno club and brilliantly executed in all its nine minute glory. The title track is more suited for the pre peak time moments; a hypnotic slow burner but still retaining some intensity. Finally "Dromolaxia" is a sturdy and slowly evolving stomper with some real sinister dub chords lurking in the background. Tip.
