Review: John Shima's latest output on legendary Glasgow label, Seventh Sign, is a enveloping four-tracker existing in the blissful realms of Shima's distinct soundworld. Opening track, 'Connection', moves in circles. An object in orbit deftly weaving between pin-point sonic details, to create an elegant pattern driven by an undeniable groove. 'Pixels' glitters with high-end percussive elements, glancing off glass surfaces and reverberating in a dream-hued space. The final (and titular) track, 'Tokyo Nights', is a wonky groover with dance-ready zero-gravity kicks, the perfect close to the 'Tokyo Nights' sonic narrative.
