Review: Swedish tech house heroine La Fleur returns for the next instalment on her beloved Power Plant operation. The "Ravenwaves EP" sees the Watergate resident serve up yet more of her mesmerising dancefloor narratives, with A side cut "Stalker" leading the journey with its razor sharp monosynth melodies and rapid-fire rhythm arrangements, altogether guiding you through the smoky atmosphere while its woozy pads and haunting vocals only add further to its mystique. On the B side, we have the evocative title track which is much more driving and upbeat; featuring a roaring bassline beneath layers of soprano and baritone vocal textures, this one is sure to cause some drama on the dancefloor.

Review: Since breaking out back in 2010, Sanna La Fleur Engdahl has switched between her own label, Power Plant, and home city imprint Watergate. Here she makes her first appearance on the Berlin imprint for two years. A-side "Devil Sigh", where delay-laden, dub-wise vocal snippets ricochet around aggressive, end-of-days stabs, alien electronics and a driving rhythm track, is our pick of the bunch, though the woozier and more positive - nay, impressively glassy-eyed - title track (B2) is also rather good. Rush-inducing, shirt-removing thrills are provided by Tuff City Kids, whose piano-laden, hands-in-the-air rub of "Devil Sigh" sounds like a future anthem.

Review: Almost a year has passed since La Fleur's last outing on Power Plant, so this delayed follow-up is more than welcome. Pleasingly, it's also rather hard to categorize. The title track, in particular, is something of a fusion beast: a chunky peak-time workout that places Lula's trippy, delay-laden spoken word vocal atop an attractive combination of echoing late night melody motifs, thrusting analogue sub-bass and a densely layered, thrillingly percussive rhythm track. The cut's inherent trippy vibe is explored further on Francesca Lombardo's darker, more straightforward remix, before Justin Massei re-casts it as a dreamy, spacey and melodious chunk of Lauer style electronic deep house. Bumpy, bass-heavy bonus cut "Circadian" is also worth a listen.

Review: Swedish DJ and producer based in Berlin La Fleur is resident at local superclub Watergate, so sure knows what it takes to rock a dancefloor. "Flowerhead" was originally released in 2010 on her own Power Plant imprint and now gets a reprise by an all star cast. Starting off with another one of the city's leading stars; Panorama Bar resident Cassy, who provides a high octane rendition fuelled by some powerful arpeggios. The city's reigning queen of rolling house grooves Dana Ruh provides a very functional version, aimed for for DJ use as always. Finally, La Fleur herself delivers a a "2016 rework" to commemorate 10 years since the track's release: a true milestone in a very successful career thus far.

Review: Having just mixed the 16th installment of Watergate's showcase compilation series, Sanna La Fleur Engdahl graces the label with her second 12" offering in the shape of Arms Around. Any vinyl selectors who enjoyed Watergate 16 will probably doing a little victory pump as this 12" culls both her original productions from that 15 track mix, as well as providing quite a bonus in the shape of a Carl Craig remix. The eponymous track is reminiscent of the melodic early-noughties with a dreamy, synth-driven break that practically guarantees a proverbial "Arms Around"-effect on the floor. Complementing this, "Stella" shows La Fleur can take it deep too with filtered pads and vocals shreds augmenting what feels like a never ending groove. The aforementioned Planet E boss does his thing to "Arms Around" with his self-styled 'Affected Remix' retaining the charms of La Fleur's original production but sliding up the sense of intensity.

Review: Whatpeopleplay launch their label endeavour with style, revisiting one of last year's breakthrough tracks and enlisting some A List production talent to remix it. La Fleur's "Flowerhead" worked due to its simplistic intent to start as it meant to proceed, twisting that distinctive uplifting piano melody around a big kick-filled groove, whilst a cut up vocal reverberated around your cerebral cortex. Buzzin Fly and Rekids producer extraordinaire Spencer Parker excels in remixing the track, stretching it out into a full eleven minutes of jacking tech house, using all his expertise to cover the distinctive vocal lead in a filtered melodic sheen that lends the track a whole new sound.
