Review: AkizzBeatzz and Lego Edit join forces to mutually reinforce what they both do best: making disco edits and reworks of classic funk, soul and Afrobeat, and occassionally offering up the odd original track. The 12" 'African Groove' is a downtempo and weighty meditation on what it means to hail from the continent, with Akizz' A-side 'I'm An African' playfully laying down a diasporic big beat excursion, replete with regional instrumentation and defiant political vocal samples. Lego Edit's 'Sahara Adventures', meanwhile, works a chugging beat around a central algaita line.

Review: 'Super Disco Edits Brazil Jazz Funk' is the imaginative title of this well-tagged edits V/A from Legofunk, charting wah-heavy lollops round the May tree across several standout stomps, from Alexny, Alkalino, Scruscru and Lego himself. All turning their hands to Afro-funk freak succours of impossible-to-rediscover-except-for-if-you're-a-true-connoisseur origin, we're thoroughly dazed and confused at the soft wah contusions of 'DDB' and the recumbent ocean laps of 'Harina De Maiz', perfect for hammock lazing.

Review: Samosa Records is back with a summer edition titled Afrikano Vol. 1, featuring four tracks from various artists. On the A-side, Vagabundo Club Social kick things off with the life-affirming boogie vibes of 'Mr. Mista', while by C. Da Afro & De Gama are equally uplifting on 'Sweet Dance' that's all about the beat and horn breakdowns.Over on the flip, Atchoum & Grincheux appear with the spiritual life music of 'Demokousse' remixed by Les Inferno who underpins the track with infectious breakbeats and finally Lego Edit provides goes poolside and sunset on the low slung 'Afromaniaco'.
