Review: There's no complex concept behind the latest four-track EP from the reliable Whiskey Disco camp, just a quartet of killer re-edits crying out for peak-time plays. Highlights wise, we're particularly enjoying the hard-spun Afro-disco grooves and well-placed dub delays of Alex Zuiev's "Afro Magic", though Alkalino's quirky opener - a thrillingly dubbed-out take on a tongue-in-cheek, left-of-centre disco treat - is also superb. Elsewhere, Love Drop sticks heavy new house beats underneath a stone cold classic (listen to the clips and you'll be able to identify the source material in seconds), while Terrence Pearce crafts a space-disco epic out of undulating Afro-disco grooves, bleeping synth melodies and some seriously cosmic effects.

Review: Funkyjaws Music comes though with more of that lovely loose-limbed disco goodness that is never going to fail in energising a decent dance floor. Let's Dance Volume 4 is another various artists affair that launches with James Greenwood & Aniello's feel-good 'Look Of Love' which has it all - the sweet female vocal, the florid strings, the rolling bassline and big brass leads. Scruscru & Los Protos's 'Corason' brings some Latin flavours with a more deep and seductive groove and Jkriv and Love Drop offer up two b-side jams packed with soul and irresistible rhythms that effervesce with uplifting vibes.

Review: The Gamm label has seemingly been around forever. It is known mostly for its run of edits and hip-hop but has recently got back to its roots with more Latin and disco sounds. Love Drop is a frequent player on the label who now comes back with another sizzling two-tracker. Up first is the bright and house-tinged disco stomper 'Journey Into You' which is a great reinterpretation of the Leon Ware classic. On the other side is his take on a Roy Ayers number that is mad infectious - 'Boogie Down' has restless drum funk and big horn energy with a great vocal hook.

Review: Love Drop's latest and third instalment in the Lovedrops series is a lush, romantic and Balearic-classic-aping release certain to transport listeners to an unprecedentedly sun-kissed paradise. Replete with sweeping melodies and burgeoning disco-house rhythms - all ensured by their central samples, which draw on everything from Motown bustle to French house laserblasts - the overall mood is that of a blastoff. Best suited for cocktail parties in space-lounges - if you can afford the hire fee.

Review: Love Drop first released in the mid 2000s, but his career only started gathering pace when he appeared on G.A.M.M and Home Taping is Killing Music in 2018. Following another outing on G.A.M.M earlier in 2021 - the rather good 'We Got To Get Our Shit Together' - he's decided to bring back his own 'Love Drops' rework series. This time round, the A-side is a breathlessly bumpin' affair in which winding sax lines, party atmosphere and snippets of a heavyweight disco-funk workout combine with a thumping-but-swinging house beat. Over on the flip, he delivers a locked-in, subtly tooled-up take on an electric piano-sporting jazz-funk Bill Evans gem that sits at the jazzier end of the spectrum. Solid stuff all told.

Review: Love Drop seems to save his most inspired edits and reworks for his periodic outings on GAMM. For proof, check the Brighton-based producer's latest outing for the Swedish imprint - his third in total - which could well be his strongest release to date. A-side 'Lebanon' - so-called, we think, because it's an edit of a little-known Lebanese disco gem - is little less than inspired: a lightly tooled-up, ten-minute take that evolves throughout, boasts some subtle Middle Eastern/North African instrumentation, and brilliantly rises and falls from start to finish. It's hard to accurately describe, but utterly brilliant - the kind of epic disco workout that you'll want to listen to over and over again. Flipside 'Liberation' is equally as inspired, with Dubock beefing up and rearranging another obscure slice of jazz-funk/disco fusion complete with mazy synth solos, spacey electronics and a high-octane, club-ready groove.

Review: After impressing first time round, Love Drop is back with a second single for the aways reliable GAMM label. Once again the mission is simply - to tear the roof off with big, disco and house fusions that are jam packed with hooks, soul and heft. 'We Got To Get Our Shit Together' is something of a cosmic workout that has synths reaching out to the stars while the congas, flashy synth breakdowns and tropical beats roll on below. 'Let It Flow' is a throwback vocal roller with all the dazzle and glossiness you need to get the floor packed and pumping.
