A Tribute To Robert Moog 2
Cat: CREME 12-33. Rel: 07 Dec 06

Electro House
Bangkok Impact - "Taming The Taurus"
Lowfish - "Membrane Switch"
Luke Eargoggle - "Mind Of A Moog"
Review: Taken from the tribute to Robert Moog album. An amazing track from Bangkok Impact (probably our favourite on the album). Great building disco track in the vein of Lindstrom (to drop a hot name...but really this track rocks!), plus a rocking up-tempo piece by Lowfish. Lets not forget a massive up-tempo Model 500 kind of techno/electro track by Luke Eargoggle. Three great tunes on one piece of vinyl.

Review: Lowfish (Gregory De Rocher) makes his Analogical Force debut after a longstanding career rubbing shoulders with such greats as Noise Factory Records, and running his own NA-baed label Suction. The electro vanguardist lives up to his expectations and exceeds them here on 'Thaw', venturing to do things most electro artists think you're sort of not meant to do - and pulling them off anyway. '8_OP Extended', for example, drops into a beat that sounds pitched-down and murky, but the whole thing is still stellarly shocking. A minimal/lowercase focus ensues, with a snappy, unpolished feel to tracks like 'Sound Equipment'.

Review: Veteran Toronto-based producer Gregory de Rocher's career spans over 20 years, where he has released on the likes of City Centre Offices, Ersatz Audio and his own Suction Records - which he co-founded in 1997 with like-minded producer Jason Amm (aka Solvent). They present a collection of salvaged tape recordings from 1996 under de Rocher's lesser known Pest(e) moniker. A fascinating assortment of analogue electronics originally intended as a demo, it was at one point almost released on seminal UK label Skam but de Rocher ended up releasing it himself under the Lowfish alias - this being his debut album under the moniker. He uses broad strokes to paint a picture across the various tracks: from the jungle reductions of "Sieve", cosmic electro of "Agamemnon", to the evocative IDM trip of "Polychromerats" and hypnotic drone piece "Lungs Of The Clock".

Review: Lowfish originally released his 'Burn The Lights Out' LP in 2007 on the US label Satamile but we have found some copies of it in the warehouse. Synth-pop meets breakbeats in an electrifying fusion of emotive melodies and bass-heavy beats across all four sides of the long player with ten then-new tracks and two classics from his Sat.31 EP. They all show that his music, complex yet accessible, evokes images of Blade Runner, Wave Noir, or William Gibson. It is post-modern in approach as it skilfully blends past and present styles to create a sound uniquely his own, seamlessly bridging the gap between eras while pushing the boundaries in his own way.

Review: Neo post-flava electro synth funk killer record. Lowfish marks his own turf with his sound and style as usual with this 4 tracker on Satamile. Emotive, deep fat synth bass lines, pumping beats and character all of its own from this Canadian artist.
