Electro
Philipp Boss - "Lava" (5:56)
Griezman - "Decheterie" (8:27)
Martyne - "Zoober" (6:26)
Bodin - "A Walk In The Park" (6:15)
Review: Not On Earth's first release sold out in quick time - unsurprising given the reputation of Frankfurt based founders Bodin & Jacob. Their second is a various artists affair that shows off some of the talents they have unearthed, while Bodin also reappears with "A Walk In The Park." It's a brilliantly militant cut with clipped, marching beats and rasping bass squelches, and elsewhere Philipp Boss opens the EP with the slippery electro rhythms of "Lava". Griezman's "Decheterie" is an uptempo bit of proper first wave tech house a la Terry Francis. Closing out this more than handy EP is the hard edged electro-tech of "Zoober" from Martyne.

Loopy Schneider (6:03)
Make My Day (7:02)
EFX/SFX (6:12)
Review: With some great releases in recent times by Tonnovelle and Robert Dietz aka DJ Disciple, Frankfurt label Osman is back with a serving of retro techno shenanigans by hometown hero Martyne: head of the revered Traffic collective and label out of neighbouring Offenbach am Main. The "EFX/SFX EP" features some solid gear; the tempo of "Loopy Schneider" channels the vibe of late '90s UK breaks by way of electro and acid techno, while the bouncy bleep techno of Berlin's dancefloors can be experienced via "Make My Day" and the neon-lit robot funk of the title track will take you deeper into the afterhours.

Minimal House/Tech House
Quasequini (8:44)
Quasi (7:14)
Grosse Pause (7:25)
Review: Offenbach-based Traffic has been one of the most interesting tech-house labels around for a while now, largely through serving up material that conforms to the sub-genre's original ethos (I.E futurist Motor City techno sounds and house rhythms). Further confirmation of this approach can be found on side A of this hook-up between Traffic founder Martyne and label regular Jacob. Titled "Qauesiquini", the track is rich in spacey synthesizer chords, bustling "bleep and bass" style electronic melodies and beats reminiscent of early British tech-house classics. Turn to the flip for the wiggly analogue electro jam "Quasi" and "Grosse Pause", a creepy, sub-bass heavy fusion of electro and Yorkshire bleep.

Deep House
Reawer (6:40)
Morning (6:56)
Adlib (7:10)
Review: Rather than flooding social media with constant updates, release information and other arguably futile material, France's Rue De Plaisance imprint have been doing their thing since 2011 without bothering anyone. In case you've misunderstood, we love that, and we wish there were more labels that went about their work in the same way; sadly, there are simply too many talkers these days. Previous names include Varoslav, Nico Lahs, Norm Talley and Gary Romalis, among others, but this time it's Martyne and Jacob Chenaux who burst through the ranks with three twisted house deviations. "Reawer" is a deep, hollow technoid bullet that stares into the great unknown thanks to a bottomless pit of airy electronics, while "Morning" ups the percussion levels with a swinging injection of drums, leaving "Adlib" to provide the broken beats and lo-fi house excursions.
