Review: BEEYOU Records continue their infatuation with apiculture and bouncy tech house on The Worker EP, featuring another finely selected cast of buzzing beatmakers. Le Louche and Mehlor team up for the sprightly 90s-licked tones of 'Beat Back To', which features a deadly garage hook and a cascade of zippy FX around the nagging swing of the drums. ADMNTi keeps the pressure up with the twitchy delights of 'E3 Shaolin', while Casey Spillman gets busy with some rubbery bass on 'Just A Sip'. Joey Jackson takes things deeper without losing the punch on 'Made This Wearing One Slipper'.

Review: UK based label Comma Traxx kicked off with a great four track VA a couple of years ago and only now hit release number three for their vinyl off-shoot. It's a killer, too, with the loopy bass and garage-tinged minimal grooves of opener 'Jabba' sure to get those hips and fists moving. 'Bija' gets more zoned out and cosmic as it voyages through the stars on slippery drums and synths, while 'Flubber' brings some rasping, gloopy textures to a kinetic groove. The Nathan Pinder remix is excellent with its electro stylings, retro bassline and true sense of electronic funk and soul.

Review: This week in minimal tech house we have some wicked underground material courtesy of new label Syntaxx out of Leeds. If the tracks on Syntaxx Waxx Vol 1 are anything to go by, this crew are on to big things in 2021 and beyond. Features Mehlor with the hypnotic swing of "Wurk" reminiscent of local hero Jack Wickham, AWSI goes into UKG territory on the woozy "SPD" while over on the flip Parsec delves into druggy microhouse realms on the afterhours paranoid shuffle of "Error" and Nate SU delivers the mandatory Rominimal style track on the lean groove of "Trip".

Review: Another four track various artist EP from London imprint Nuances de Nuit, and their slogan 'Pour Les Danseurs' (for the dancers) could not be more apt. On Nuances de Nuit Vol. 5, the hypnotic, breakbeat-driven experience of 'Chromium' by Mehlor with Maxime Boekel (aka Le Louche) is reminiscent of some Rominimal sounds, while the on the flip the rolling, funky and ethereal tech house of Local Dub's 'Moon Dog' calls to mind iO (Mulen) and is an impressive debut from the You&Me affiliates. This is closed out by the swing-fuelled euphoria from Karab (Tessellate) on 'Hors Piste' that's full of classic house motifs.
