  1. Naked Eye People - "Short Distance" (5:59)
  2. Barrow Boy - "BTB" (Demo mix) (4:39)
  3. Bobby Durst - "Shape Shifting" (5:17)
  4. Mike Storm - "Dark Sight" (Sims JFF edit) (5:02)
Review: Having first surfaced last year with their first various artists release featuring the dearly departed Andreas Gehm, the Stealth Mission label is back with another four-strong salvo of no-nonsense acid, electro and techno. Naked Eye People kicks off proceedings with the punishing jacker "Short Distance" before Barrow Boy whips up a perfect slice of malevolent 303 mischief on "BTB (Demo Mix)". On the B side there's space for a little more reflection with the spacious pings of Bobby Durst's "Shape Shifting" before Mike Storm turns the heat back up on the delightfully unhinged "Dark Sight (Sims JFF Edit)".

  2. SHXCXCHCXSH - "Nnddss" (5:45)
  3. Ntogn - "Psyche" (4:29)
  4. Datura Dilema - "Sun Gods" (7:12)
  5. Mike Storm - "Chapter 002" (6:09)
Review: Spanish imprint Subsist are back. The Valencia based operation now presents its first vinyl release and it's pretty impressive. Starting out there's the shadowy Scandinavian outfit SHXCXCHCXSH with the slow burning and greyscale noisescape of "Ssddnn" and the deconstructed industrial rave of "Psyche", there's also an appearance by Hypnus main man Ntogn with "Psyche": your serving of deeply hypnotic and cerebral groove. On the flip, label mainstays Datura Dilema present the bleepy Jeff Mills tribute "Sun Gods", while the Netherlands' Mike Storm gives us the powerful high tech soul of "Chapter 002" whose epic string section totally brings the house down.

  1. Changed
  2. They Were (Sub 13)
  3. Status Of The Object
  4. Return Of The Objects
Review: Dutch producer Mike Storm is a name that if you don't already know, you will soon. Along with Steffan Linzatti he's perfected the art of bleepy, 909 techno, and he first made this known through the release of his Encounters album on the consistently good Spanish label Subsist. Since then he's released two 12"s, most likely off the back of that LP, and this new one for ARS Mechanica sees him follow up French producer Antigone's inauguration of the label. If you're a fan of Jeff Mills, but not the imitations, than it doesn't really get better than Mike Storm as you'll hear on tracks like the chiming "Status Of The Object", but the pick of the four on this EP is the hectic "Changed".

  1. At Certain Points (5:35)
  2. The Day We See (7:03)
  3. New Light (6:13)
  4. Where The Wolves Come From (6:33)
Review: Dutch producer and DJ Mike Storm is back with some more convincing homages to Jeff Mills that stand out from the rest of the pack at the moment. This time for Lenny Posso's Brooklyn-based Chronicle, a sub-label of his renowned Thema imprint. "At Certain Points" has all the bleepy peak time drama of an any track on The Wizard's esteemed Axis imprint.. and some! "The Day We See" is the kind of track you could imagine Buster Keaton running around to like a headless chicken on one of Mill's cinemixes; in sync to all the chimes, strings and syncopated 909 drum programming. B side cut "New Light" is a driving and cyclical DJ tool with more emphasis on a stripped rhythm and it's great because of its focus on some kind of originality by comparison to the rest of the EP.

  2. Steve Bicknell - "Space 13" (4:17)
  3. Dustin Zahn - "Politics Of Seduction" (5:50)
  4. Adriana Lopez - "Last Path" (5:44)
Review: Predictably, DVS1 has grabbed tracks from some serious techno talents for this third volume in Mistress's Special Release series. As a result, the vibe is loopy, pumping and energy-packed throughout, with standouts coming from Adriana Lopez (whose "Last Path" sounds like Surgeon making creepy EBM) and UK veteran Steve Bicknell, who brilliantly ladens a stomping beat with creepy electronics and all manner of psychedelic bleeps ("Space 13"). Elsewhere, Mike Storm brilliantly builds dancefloor intensity via relentless drum machine handclaps on "From The Human Eye To Earth", while Dustin Zahn delivers a decidedly distorted fusion of lo-fi techno and spacey Detroit futurism.
