Dave & Omar - "Starlight" (4:16)
Destiny II - "I'm Here For This" (feat Aria Lyric) (4:54)
Review: Z Recordings chief Dave Lee has teamed up on this one with Omar, a prolific multi-instrumentalist who was awarded an MBE in 2012 for services to music. The result is 'Starlight', a serving of emotive soul funk with a nod to legend Stevie Wonder. Over on the flip, we have the late night boogie-down vibe of Destiny II's 'I'm Here For This' featuring Aria Lyric's powerful vocal delivery, underpinned by an uplifting arrangement that has summertime vibes abound. A new project by Lee, it debuted earlier this year with the excellent 'Play 2 Win'

Instrumento (11:07)
Tschuss (6:34)
Gerogliftko (7:41)
Review: The latest audio missive from the My Own Jupiter camp brings together debutant Nicholas Lutz (here using the previously unused Draculas Lutz alias) and former CABARET Recordings producer Omar Chibarro. They pair begins proceedings with arresting A-side "Instrumento", a bold, bass-heavy and angular electro jam packed with mind-altering acid lines and shimmering, deep space motifs. They change tack on the flipside, accompanying snappy, organ-laced NYC garage bumper "Tschuss" with the hybrid acid-jack/spacey house bluster of quality closer "Gerogliftko". While stylistically varied, the EP's three tracks are united by an attractive looseness that only emphasizes the thrillingly wayward nature of the duo's otherworldly electronics.

It's So
It's So (unreleased Exclusive instrumental)
Review: Mukatsuku has got another little treasure on its hands here with a tune from MBE and UK Soul legend Omar. It dates back to 2004 and has never been on 7" before having become something of a classic after original release on 12". Dons like Gilles Peterson and IG Culture were early supporters of the driving, peak time broken beat sound and the tune was often a highpoint of Omar's live sets. It has never been released as an instrumental either - until now. Both tunes now together on one 45 make for an essential cop for soul fans and, as always, there is strictly no repress on this one so move fast.

Nothing Compares (7:41)
091116 (5:59)
Tiemblatimbal (7:05)
CLP (7:36)
Review: No, this isn't veteran UK soul man Omar charging off on an electro/techno tip, but rather a new EP from experienced Uruguayan producer Omar Chibarro. He's generally known for his minimal techno and tech-house productions, and while there are some nods towards his trademark style across the EP, for the most part it's an electro-focused affair. Our pick of the bunch is 'Nothing Compares', where ragged acid lines, slightly foreboding melodies and fuzzy electronic riffs ride a hybrid electro/tech-house groove, though bleeping electro cut '091116' and aggressive, sub-heavy closer 'CLP', which sounds like an electro take on early Unique 3 or LFO, are also rather good.

Benefit (Kai Alce vocal remix) (6:11)
Benefit (Kai Alce instrumental) (5:59)
Benefit (Kai Alce dub mix) (6:15)
Review: Second time around for "Benefit", a breezy and soulful song by UK soul scene stalwart Omar that originally appeared on Boddhi Satva's 2015 album "Transition". This time round, the mixes come from deep house royalty Alton Miller and Kai Alce. The former handles the A-side, delivering a wonderfully warm, intricately produced extended rework that sees Omar's incredible vocal rise above bouncy Afro-house drums, darting synth bass, rich chords and all manner of subtle instrumental flourishes. Kai Alce provides both vocal and instrumental mixes on the flip, opting for booming bass, swinging, garage-influenced drums and some suitably old school organ riffs.

Review: The Man sees certified UK soul legend Omar return with his seventh studio album and first in seven years! Finding a perfect home on Adrian Gibson's long running Freestyle Records, the man known as Omar Lye-Fook sounds in fine form on this thirteen track long player which features guest spots from fellow UK icon Caron Wheeler (of Soul II Soul fame) German funk troupe Hidden Jazz Quartett and bass player to the Gods Pino Palladino. Anyone that caught lead single "The Man" will find the rest of this album as much of a joy and pleasantly there are a few concessions to Omar's interest in Latin sounds which give The Man a bit more bump!

Unai Trotti - "Thisorden" (6:08)
Unai Trotti - "Pirupipi" (7:35)
Review: For the second outing on their offshoot label, London's Art of Dark crew has handed over the reigns to Uruguayan artist Omar Chibbaro (best known for his outings on CABARET and My Own Jupiter) and Cartulis Music co-owner Unai Trotti. Chibbaro handles side A, first offering up the rubbery bleep techno/Drexciyan electro-funk fusion of "Zum" before slamming down the blackened beats, hypnotizing bleeps and twisted acid lines of "Adheuz". Over on side B, Trotti offers two tasty peak-time workouts: the snappy, bleeping retro-futurism of "Thisorden" and "Pirupipi", where deep space chords and angular electronics cluster around a weighty, forthright groove.

Sohrab - "Mnemonic" (6:20)
Levat - "Send Dunes" (5:12)
Omar - "Hum" (7:01)
Sasha Zlykh - "Pinot Greedgio" (8:41)
Review: Three years after making a debut, it's finally five up for Bruno Schmidt's small but well-formed label Domesticated. Then first four EPs have all sold out in quick fashion, and this time out the Berlin based imprint goes for a various artist approach that packs in plenty of heat. Sohrab kicks off with the unrelenting tech house energy and crystalline melody of 'Mnemonic' while Levat's 'Send Dunes' is a wonky head wrecker for the afters. Omar flips the vibe again with his trippy 'Hum' and its analogue drums and daubs of synth. Last of all is the irresistible bump and grind of Sasha Zlykh's 'Pinot Greedgio.'

Abstract Tune - "1996 Shoots" (5:37)
Audri - "Acid Rain" (5:11)
Omar - "Techno Victims" (5:29)
Z@p - "Different Ways" (7:12)
Review: Since launching last year, the Opia label has yet to put a foot wrong, serving up two must-have 12" singles full of quality cuts from rising stars and scene stalwarts. The label's latest compilation style offering is equally as good. TC80 has the honour of kicking things off via the bubbly acid lines, stomping beats and gentle synth melodies of "Exile", before Abstract Tune joyously joins the dots between bleep techno and dreamy deep house on the rich positivity of "1996 Shoots". Audri's "Acid Rain" is a raw and intense jack-track, while Omar's "Techno Victims" a bustling, minor key electro box jam. Rounding things off is Z@p, whose excellent "Different Ways" sits somewhere between early Motor City Techno and 1990s British tech-house.
