Review: ***B-STOCK: Record ever so slightly warped with creasing to corner of outer sleeve, but otherwise in perfect working condition***

Periplo marks the solo debut of Early Sounds Recordings co-founder Pellegrino S. Snichelotto, following occasional contributions to other material from the label's extended family of artists. Interestingly, the six-track set shares some stylistic similarities with friends' Nu Guinea's Tony Allen Experiments mini-album, chiefly the producer's delay and reverb-laden fusion of live instruments and vintage analogue hardware. Stylistically, most of the tracks sit somewhere between jazz-funk, cosmic funk, and the kind of melodious Afro-Cosmic fare that was once a staple of Northern Italy's eccentric club scene. There's plenty of hazy musical humidity to enoy, too, with the impeccable "Ad Libitum" standing out.

Caucciu (Migliera version) (4:31)
Caucciu (Damecuta version) (4:21)
Review: The latest must-have missive from Naples' Early Sounds collective comes courtesy of founding member Pellegrino S. Snichelotto and his collaborative studio project Zodyaco. This time round keyboard player and fellow producer Daryo Bass joins him in the studio for a sun-kissed skip through hybrid jazz-funk/disco pastures. The A-side "Damecuta Version" of "Caucciu" is the kind of rich and opulent Balearic disco we dig, with the pair regularly flitting between dancefloor jazz-funk and arpeggio-driven, Italo-disco type sounds. The flipside "Migliera Version" is an altogether looser and more loved-up affair that sounds like a jam session between Tullio Di Piscopo and Pat Metheny.
