Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

The brilliantly throwback vibes of Phone Traxxx continue to bump us through these long lockdown days with this fifth fine volume. 'PT Theme' is cheeky as you like with its playful bass line and synth stabs, popping drums and eternal sense of fun. 'I'm Really Not Prepared' brings some hazy flute lines to the kinetic kicks while the bass plunges low. 'Still Got It' is a more minimal vibe but still brims with warmth and old school cool while 'Aqualung' is the most fresh of the lot. The razor sharp hits, the tumbling drums and bass, the cut up vocal stabs. Magic stuff.

On 27 (6:00)
Back OF (6:01)
Rewind Your Neck In (5:54)
Lily's Groove (4:38)
Review: Following a six-month break - presumably to get their breath back - the shadowy and mysterious Phone Traxxx crew returns with a fourth collection of late '90s/early 2000s UK Garage-inspired dancefloor bangers. First up is the bustling and bassbin-bothering "On '27", a muscular slab of speed garage revivalism with added cut-up hip-hop vocal samples, quickly followed by the warped, jazz-wise sub-bass, skipping two-step beats and fluid electric piano motifs of "Back OF". Over on side B the un-credited crew peppers a crispy two-step beat with pulverising bass tones and spacey synths on "Rewind Your Neck In", before cannily combining "Show Me Love" style US garage organ stabs, smooth bass, sensual chords and shuffling beats on deeper closing cut "Lily's Groove".

No More Mr Nice Guy (5:54)
Ptree (6:10)
Chi Quay (5:47)
Shooter McGavin (7:05)
Review: More from the shadowy Phone Traxxx series, whose previous releases have been packed to the rafters with slamming club cuts inspired by the late '90s/early 2000s glory days of UK garage. The mysterious crew kicks things off via the brilliantly madcap weighty two-step/8-bit/brain-dance fusion of "No More Mr Nice Guy", before reaching for the sparkly organ riffs, chunky sub-bass and swinging drums of "Ptree". Over on side B you'll find more computer game style bleeps, starry chords and bowel-bothering bass (two-step workout "Chi Quay"), as well as a suitably smooth, warm and melodic 4/4 garage roller ("Shooter McGavin").

Frisky (6:10)
Xan Widdecombe (5:31)
Wallop (6:05)
Benson (5:36)
Review: The first volume in the mysterious Phone Traxxx series sold out in record time following its release last autumn. We'd expect this sequel, which boasts four more dancefloor bangers inspired by the glory days of UK garage, to sell just as fast. The shadowy crew kicks things off via the dark garage vibes, heavy analogue bass and gut-punching breakbeats of "Frisky", before serving up some deep, dreamy and seductive two-step garage flavours on EP highlight "Xan Widdecombe". The two-step fun continues on the flipside, where the classic-sounding chords, bubbly synth stabs and cut-up vocal snippets of "Wallop" are followed by the dark, heavy and mind-altering shuffle of "Benson".
