Review: The Zehn 12" sampler series from cam Ostgut Ton reaches edition Sieben and features Martyn, Atom TM, Tobias and Planetary Assault Systems on the cut. It's the DC-based Dutchman that takes the A-side honours with "Jah Bedouin", a trademark hybrid cruncher from Martyn that pairs a UK rhythmic bent with tunnelling dub techno vibes and the occasional, yet wholly enthusiastic vocal sample that inspired the title. Face down Tobias and Atom TM experiment with a darker strain of sinewy techno on "Physik E7532" whilst Luke Slater is in banger mode for closing PSA cut "Hama Static".

Review: Hot on the heels of his full-length LP 'Sky Scraping', Luke Slater is back as Planetary Assault Systems with one of the albums key tracks 'Devotion', which wasn't included on the 2LP. Truncate steps in for a hard hitting remix on A2, while Slater provides a new exclusive hypnotic track 'Eden Tide' as B1. Barker then closes out the record with a meditative eye closer to smooth the edges of a rougher record.

Review: 11 years after it first featured on Luke Slater's fifth album as Planetary Assault Systems, 'Rip The Cut' has been given the remix treatment. Slater provides two reworks of his own: the deliciously creepy, distorted and subtly intergalactic 'Remix 1'- all locked-in techno grooves, echoing bleeps and trippy vocal samples - and the brilliant breathless 'Remix 2', whose epic percussive breakdown and build could create pandemonium on the dancefloor. Elsewhere, sometime Deep Dish man Dubfire adds locked-in melodic loops to Slater's beefy beats, while the Lady Machine revision is a weighty slab of gnarled industrial techno.

Review: By now, we should all know exactly what to expect from Luke Slater's long-running Planetary Assault Systems project, namely heavy, forthright, mind-mangling music that combines the weight and intensity of European techno with the sci-fi intent and stargazing synth sounds of the Detroit records that first inspired him. That trademark sound - intense, percussive, often psychedelic - is on full display on Sky Scraping, his first album under the alias since 2016. Uniformly breathless, sweaty and club-ready, the set's many highlights include the acid-powered tribal techno surge of 'Give In', the sonic meteor shower that is 'Bang Wap', the trippy, deep space hypnotism of 'Labstract' and the warped, metallic and otherworldly shuffle of 'The Drag Train'.

Review: For our money, Luke Slater does his best work as Planetary Assault Systems. The iconic British producer now returns with his first album since 2016 and it is brimming with new material. Some of the tracks have been crafted in the audio, others are works taken from his live show as PAS, all of it is mind-melting minimal techno from another dimension, as per usual. There is a real focus on the dance floor here as soft hits, harmonic bells, warped synths all warp and weft their way around the rubbery, pulsing grooves. Of course, plenty of psychedelic colours help define this most stylish of records.

Review: Everything about this release looks massive: the legend Luke Slater, on Token no less, with an EP titled Say It Loud. Indeed from the first beat of 'Bang Wap' you know you are in for a wild ride with one of techno's expert technicians, on this powerful and functional DJ tool in typically futurist aesthetic. The restrained fury of 'Bolt' is similarly looped and stripped down but still capable of taking you into cerebral realms on the warehouse dancefloor. Over on the flip, the title track is a jacking old school jam centred around its thunderous 909 rhythm patterns and ending with the cyclical and hypnotic energy of 'Shine'.

Review: Luke Slater has put out plenty of fine music since first donning the Planetary Assault Systems alias in 1993, but up until now he's never put out a live album. Given how well he's regarded as a live techno performer, that's something of a surprise. Here he finally puts the record straight via a non-stop 80-minute set recorded at Cocoon in Ibiza back in July. From start to finish, it's peak Planetary Assault Systems, with Slater layering sparkling, sci-fi synths, starburst electronics, mind-altering acid lines and - more surprisingly - the saxophone playing of Tim Ower over hypnotic beats that veer from dense hypnotism to intense techno-jack.

Review: British techno stalwart Luke Slater is now two decades into his ongoing Planetary Assault Systems adventures. To celebrate, he's handed over tracks recorded over the last 20 years to a hand picked group of remixers. It's a faultlessly floor-focused affair, with Lucy, Steve Bicknell, Function and Slam - whose acid-fired re-make of "Temporary Suspension" is an album highlight - all delivering typically no-nonsense interpretations of Slater's tracks. The producer himself delivers a handful of 'live edits' - versions created for his live shows - while Detroit legends Octave One smother "Booster" in classic Motor City melodies and the most positive of synthesizer refrains.

Review: Part one of this Funk 22 Light Years Series Luke Slater is turning out at the moment on his Mote-Evolver label took in remixes from Token's Phase and Ben Sims with a classic '97 PAS remix of Dungeon making the cut too. For part two, Slater looks towards Ovum boss Josh Wink who turns in a progressive builder that's slightly more melodic and trippier than the original "Kat". It's tech house shake is undeniable! Meanwhile, "Kat" itself is tribal, uptempo and proper '90s looped techno. It's an EP of two halves - so which one are you: tech or techno?

Review: If you were to find yourself late one Sunday afternoon jostling for position in a reconditioned power station, surrounded by ubermensch males, it's likely you're in Deep Heet. Techno music doesn't get much more self explanatory than this. "Voltan" is the most club-indulgent of the four track EP. A wall of undulating PAS noise shifts in and around a thrumming bassline. and the only audible deviation of instrumentation comes via pattering snares. Pent tensions encircle "Pygar" which gradually cools, as Slater reduces the track back to its original framework. "Turn" sheds the low end and fizzle of the aforementioned tracks, focusing on hypnotic and bleeping loops and disturbing Hitchcock-like insignia, while Slater reintroduces his fearsome hiss on "Flat Tire" with gargantuan war horns.

Review: Mote Evolver return with another salvo of reworks from three of techno's biggest names, following last year's remixes of Planetary Assault Systems' massive "Function 4" from Marcel Dettmann and Chris Liebling. Dettmann returns for more with a "Base dub" remix which is a more stripped back affair than his more full bodied first attempt, concentrating instead on subtle rhythmic nuances. Stroboscopic Artefacts' Lucy provides two remixes - one utilising a minimal breakbeat over shrill pads, and one that piles on the atmosphere with its swathes of reverb. Our pick however is Shifted's slickly executed revision, with a rolling rhythm that's packed densely around abstract tones.

Review: Luke Slater dons his Planetary Assault Systems costume and woos some rather big producers into remixing his 2006 jerker "GT" for this EP for his own Mote Evolver imprint. UK techno throb stalwart James Ruskin retains the metallic tones of the original but reworks the overall sound into a nine minute excursion into unforgiving machine funk. Not to be outdone, Sandwell District charger Function teams up with US legend Jerome Sydenham deliver a sensory assault of a remix, characterised by nagging drone fx and drums that reverberate around your inner ear. To round things off nicely Luke Slater drops his own sludgy techno thumper as well as two menacing DJ tools for the more imaginative selectors.

Review: The Cocoon anniversary celebrations continue with a fourth special EP serving up some big techno sounds. Two real heavyweights pair up on the opener with Tiga & Roman Flugel going hard on their rugged analogue workout 'Look To The Sky.' Luke Slater aka Planetary Assault Systems then layers up his signature synth sounds into a sleek and futuristic exploration of outer space on 'Raww.' Last of all, Polish mainstay Jacek Sienkiewicz amps up the energy levels with his intense, rolling techno pulses and molten synth lines with 'Digitavi,' making this another fine representation of what Cocoon has always stood for.
