Review: Is there a more iconic modern disco duo that Lindstom and Prins Thomas? The superb Scandic-pair link up here to great effect on a six track record for Smalltown Supersound. As ever the references are far and wide, from world music to deep house, cosmic ambience to synth music. The tracks are stuffed with subtle details and a rich overarching musicality that makes them as good for focussed headphone listening as it does an early evening dance. 'Oranges' is achingly gorgeous, 'Harmonia' is awash in lush arps and 'Small Stream' is dreamy bliss. Once again these maestros have come through with the goods.

Review: Norwegian disco titan Prins Thomas returns to his regular stomping ground of Smalltown Supersound with this, his sixth solo studio album. Thomas is sounding as vibrant as ever, his musical ideas spilling forth in glorious arrangements of organic instrumentation and gentling bubbling electronics that melt into a mellow, groovy sonic realm. There are hazy, cosmic moments to be savoured on the likes of "Feel The Love", and more adventurous rhythmic trysts like the nagging, snaking percussive melee of "Ambitions". Thomas' studio proficiency is more than matched by his imagination and creative ambition - would you expect any less from such a titan of Scandinavian electronic music?

Review: Given the sprawl and epic that was the recent Principe Del Norte album from Prins Thomas, it is no surprise Smalltown Supersound have opted to think big for this subsequent remix 12" series. The Orb, Sun Araw, Young Marco, I:Cube, Ricardo Villalobos and Hieroglyphic Being are all on board to remix the Scandolearic pioneer for a short-lived series spread across two vinyl releases. Hieroglyphic Being kicks matters off with a pair of remixes of "D", whose original 14 minutes made for one of the highlights of the album. In the hands of Jamal Moss, the track doesn't transform into the corrosive monster you might expect though little of the original remains intact. The accompanying Beat Rework buries PT's original krauty melodics deep below a killer barrage of drums and is our favourite of the two HB versions.

Intriguingly, it also sees him set aside "all conventional drums and drum machines" in order to create a series of epic, evocative, slowly evolving ambient pieces. These were seemingly equally as inspired by classic ambient house - think the Orb/Robert Fripp collaboration FFWD, early System 7, and so on - as IDM tracks of the 1990s. Whatever the exact inspiration, each of the 9 tracks is utterly beguiling, and hugely suited to horizontal home listening.

Review: A decade after opening its' doors, Prins Thomas' Full Pupp label - a long-running showcase for Norwegian talent - has reached 50 releases. Fittingly, the imprint's figurehead has decided to mark the occasion with a double-pack of his own material - his most expansive offering since the Prins Thomas III LP in 2014. Highlights are plentiful, from the fluid, broken rhythms, undulating electronics and bubbling acid lines of the quietly grandiose "Meiro", and trance-inducing, dark nu-disco of "Trans (12" Version)", to the Chicago acid-influenced dancefloor wonkiness of "Toransu". The package also contains a tasty "bonus beat" rub of one of the tracks, and previously unheard remixes from Chmmr and Kort.

Review: Mule Musiq offshoot Endless Flight continue their rich seam of 2015 12" releases with this sublime record from Prins Thomas. Rainbow Disco is essentially an accompaniment to the Norse Disco icon's excellent 2014 mix CD Rainbow Disco Club Vol.1. issued in conjunction with Mule Musiq and Japan's Rainbow Disco Club Festival. In terms of a track living up to it's title, few can match the seven minutes of "Rainbow Disco" which in typically Prins Thomas style develops a rich and vividly colourful groove - it's a production that shows the Norwegian at his effortless best. It's complemented by a fine remix from Force Of Nature pair KZA and DJ Kent which loses none of the original's colour but adds some weight to the groove.

Review: The second release on Prins Thomas' Rett I Fletta imprint - an outlet for "music for Neanderthals", according to the producer - comes from the label boss himself. It features two versions of III album closer Apne Slusa, plus two previously unheard tracks. It's notably more electronic - and pleasingly analogue in origin, too - than much of his work over the last few years, with less obvious krautrock and progressive rock influences. Highlights include a super deep and crackly interpretation of the title track from Margot, an acid-flecked space disco extension of the same cut from Thomas himself, and "Akken E Det Du Snafse", a heavy but stripped-back exercise in murky, late night techno. "Slufsa", a stripped-back beat-heavy dub of "Apne Slusa", is also superb.

Review: It's been a busy year thus far for the godfather of Scandolearic disco Prins Thomas; a third solo album arrived as did a sprawling and self explanatory 10 Years of Full Pupp compilation. The Prins clearly likes to keep himself occupied so it's little surprise to see him add another label to the two he already runs (Full Pupp and Internasjonal) in Rett I Fletta. Blusjketuta features some all new material from the man himself with all four cuts bristling and bubbling with hardware honed aplomb; the stripped back Trommeversjon of "Blusketuta" is most definitely a "cool tool for DJ fools" as Prins Thomas himself states on the accompanying press release. Shout out to Mr Doug Lee for some fine label art work too!

Review: Attention Prins Thomas fans! This twelve features two cuts from the Norwegian's recording sessions for last year's sublime second LP II that didn't make it onto the vinyl release which is entirely understandable given they both dip past the ten minute mark. "Sot Kloe" is Thomas Moen Hermansen doing organic techno at his memorising best, keeping the drums pared back so he can really go to work on his widely regarded bold melodies. "Sur Svie" meanwhile scales back the tempo and sinks deep into Norse psychedelic disco waters, utilising the swampy bassline to gently nudge the rich instrumentation towards the run out groove.

Review: Full Pupp gets the Sex Tags bug Part Deux. After the triplet of "Bobletekno" reworks from Sex Tags icon DJ Sotofett last week, it's now the turn of his affiliates Fett Burger and Kambo Super Sound to rework tracks from last year's Prins Thomas long player. "Bobletekno" features prominently once again, with Kambo Super Sound opening with a heavy skanking disco dub version featuring all manner of melodica, distant delay and some mighty low end bass. Up next Fett Burger drops a self styled Taellekaell mix of "Flau Pappadans" which aligns to a more familiar Nordic chug but gets increasingly trippy as the run out groove draws closer. Pon de flip there's two further "Bobletekno" versions with Kambo Burger offering a non melodica dub kutt which is kind of overshadowed by the huge dripping mass of male energy that is the Plus One Remix.

Review: Full Pupp get the Sex Tags bug as the work of Prins Thomas is dissected by the man, the myth, the maverick DJ Sotofett on the first of two records. The cultish Norwegian label have been handed the keys to Prins Thomas 2, last year's second long player from the Scandolearic icon with a second 12" to follow featuring Fett Burger and label affiliates Kambo Super Sound. However it's all Sotofett here who turns in no less than three variations on "Bobletekno" opening with a sublime 14 minute (!!) self styled 'Ride-On-411-disco-mix' that fully demonstrates his mastery for the extended production. There's a shorter dub version on the flip for the drum heads whilst the final New Age mix discards with rhythmic concern completely for an ambient rework that's possibly the most beautiful piece of music Sotofett has produced.

Review: Since 2007 The Hell Yeah Recordings imprint has released music from a wide ranging selection of artists including Roland Clark, Fabrizio Mammarella and Umek. It's seems an unlikely place for Prins Thomas' music, but nevertheless he supplies the Italia Uno EP. The A-side sees Prinny T remix Rusty's "Everything is Gonna Change", a poppy dance track originally released in 1989. The Norwegian then delivers "Gran Paradiso", a synthy wander through pumping arpeggios and popping claves, while "Monte Baldo" - named after a mountain in the Italian Alps - is an acid tip flurry of synthesised horns and shuttering drums.

Review: Full Pupp boss Prins Thomas drops his first DJ friendly twelve on the label for some two years and it's pure dirt! There's a guttural glee to "Lang Tung Ting" which grabs you from the off and keeps you hooked throughout. Rough, gut punching drums are the perfect match for growling acid squiggles that occupy the lower reaches of the mix, with the track steadily accruing warped jacking intent as it progresses. "Tom Peng Pung" offers a shorter, more percussively inclined version on the track which just doesn't retain the same earthy joy as it's longer counterpart. The flipside bump "Ny Maskin" is notable for the increasingly psychedelic surges of guitar that gradually overwhelm your senses

Review: Working as a companion to his recent self-titled album, these three tracks from the same sessions find a home on this sprightly release on Thomas' own Full Pupp imprint. Title tune "Morfar" fits in with the motorik grooves that dominate on the album - a rock-steady bassline (which sounds weirdly similar to The Beatles' "Ob-La-Di") and disco-rock drums make it a post-rock, post-disco odyssey."Atter En Trall" is a tasty nu-disco number while Kukkelure is just plain funky!

It's entirely made up of previously unreleased re-edits from the Norwegian maestro done specifically for the 57 track mix and it's quite the treat! Witness as the twinkling delights of "Xoul Particles" by Actress is embellished with the most subtle of percussive underbellies, the krauty delights of "Don't Dream It Be It" are blessed with a fine kosmische groove and Box Saga's "Zen & The Art of Deadlinesss" is made all the more sleazier. A fine set of scandolearic DJ tools straight from the master's mixing deck.

Review: This triple-album collection is something of a treat for Prins Thomas fans. Released as an accompaniment to his epic, three-disc Paradise Goulash mix, it's entirely made up of previously unreleased re-edits from the Norwegian maestro. Musically, it's as cosmic and varied as you'd expect, variously touching on ambient (Claude Speed), Balearic jazz (Gabor Szabo), Middle Eastern oddness (Cat Trance), synth-samba (Richard Schneider Jnr), modern classical (a Johanna Billings cover of Arthur Russell's "This Is How We Walk On The Moon"), and all manner of hazy, sun-kissed grooves. There's little slamming dancefloor fare, but plenty of unique versions of overlooked, little known or forgotten musical gems. For that alone, it should be an essential purchase.

Review: Prins Thomas and Belgian label Eskimo have form when it comes to the epic mix CD, the pair combined to classic effect on the Cosmo Galactic Prism back in 2007, but they've really outdone themselves with Paradise Goulash. We do not envy the Eskimo employees tasked with licensing all 57 (count 'em) on this triple disc set which fully confirms Prins Thomas as a master of joining the dots between multiple corners of the cosmic cosmos. Described as "a gentle wander within the musical mind of the Prins," Paradise Goulash of course takes its name from Larry Levan's Paradise Garage and unfolds into one of the most mind-bogglingly good mixes you will hear this year.

Review: Prins Thomas' first commercially available DJ mix, 2007's Cosmic Galactic Prism, was something of a masterclass in dancefloor-friendly eclecticism, effortlessly joining the dots between a myriad of sounds and styles whilst retaining a decidedly intergalactic feel. Pleasingly, Rainbow Disco Club Volume 1 - released in celebration of the annual Tokyo festival of the same name - is similarly inspirational. Featuring some 26 tracks crammed onto one disc, it impressively joins the dots between the demented space disco of DJ Fett Burger and Speckgurtel, the fuzzy house intensity of Theo Parrish's rework of Helium Robots, the spiralling loop techno of Surgeon (here remixing Bee Mask), and the sweaty, bass-driven broken house brilliance of General Ludd. And that's just for starters.

Review: Over the course of the last decade, Prins Thomas's Full Pupp label has done more than any other to define the "Scandolearic" sound - a decidedly warm and glassy-eyed fusion of sounds that touches on Italo, space disco, krautrock, deep house, slow techno, ambient, new age and electronica. For proof, just check this superb two-disc celebration of the label's first ten years. Mixed live (with additional overdubs added later) by Thomas, it offers a deliciously woozy, evocative and entertaining journey. Made up of a mix of exclusives and overlooked back catalogue tracks, it brilliantly showcases not only the label's distinctive style, but also Norway's slowly expanding electronic disco scene. Naturally, it comes highly recommended.
