Electro

  3. Freq Accident (5:15)
  4. Liquid Acrobatics (5:08)
Review: The latest glassy-eyed, mind-altering missive on Sophie Sweetland's Planet Euphorique imprint comes courtesy of Reptant, the self-styled "known associate and suspected leader of the Lizard Tech Militia" (in reality, it's an alias of LKR Records boss Lucas "Lou" Karsh). It's a rather fine EP all told, with the reptilian machine freak brilliantly combining elements of punchy beat-box electro, dreamy ambient house, psychedelic ambient techno and mind-altering early '90s IDM. The peak-time picks are probably the metronomic, otherworldly thump of "Freq Accident" and the "Hoover bass"-sporting electro aggression of "Monolith", though the whole EP is superb.

Illusory (12")
Cat: SALT 008. Rel: 16 May 18
Electro
  1. Hypnotik Psykotik (4:26)
  2. Ether (6:49)
  3. Illusory (6:37)
  4. Subcommunication (7:16)
Review: Mysterious tunnel dweller Reptat is up next on Melbourne based Salt Mines, with some evocative, retro-tinted electronics on the Illusory EP. He follows up some promising releases on the likes of Tomahawk and Steeplejack recently. From the dystopian title track - an nefarious experiment in smack electro, if we have ever heard such a thing, to the emotive analogue soul of "Ether" which calls to mind the glory days of early '90s techno from Detroit and Sheffield. Then, all aboard the acid express for the emotive journey that is "Subcommunication" - sounding like something that would have played beneath the M25 during that second summer of love, back in the day.

Electro
  1. Lizard Theme (4:56)
  2. The Raid (5:20)
  3. Transcendents From The Outer Sphere (8:51)
Review: Reptant, known to his Mum as Reppi T. Lizrd is described as a known associate and suspected leader of the Lizard Tech Militia. Other aliases include Popdabadel and Lou Karsh, but he is in actual fact one Lucas J. Hatzisavas - boss of Melbourne, Australia based LKR records. Using the Reptant alias for some great releases last year for the likes of Furthur Electronix and X-Kalay, he's back to old tricks and as the title may suggest - he's certainly pushing the threshold of reptilian technology on this cold blooded four tracker. From the bass heavy reductionist bleep fest of "Lizard Theme", or the breakneck electro bass onslaught of "The Raid" on the A side, through to B side thrasher "Transcendents From The Outer Sphere" operating at equally hyperaware tempo while entrancing you with its futurist vibe.
