Glenn Underground - "Spiritually Captured"
Isoul8 - "How I Feel" (feat Kaidi Tatham)
Isoul8 & Ricardo Miranda - "P Boogie"
Review: Heralding a quarter century of service for one of Italy's best-loved record stores, three certifiable house troubadours join forces to offer up tracks of the finest calibre, not least if you love old-school flavoured Chicago house music. Glenn Underground is up first with the Latino-tinged roller "Spiritually Captured", all charming chords and lightly drummed percussion. Isoul8 brings a more gutsy kind of acid house that both punches in the bottom end and bubbles delightfully on top before joining up with Ricardo Miranda for the sublime "P Boogie". Combining heartbreaking arpeggiated twinkles with expressive bass and luxuriant pads, a truly spellbinding track is crafted, and it's certainly not one to miss out on.

Lifes Track - "Rhythm Composer"
Defend:r - "Have"
Ricardo Miranda - "505 Tool"
Ricardo Miranda - "Three Roll'n Rolands"
Ricardo Miranda - "Seven 707s"
Review: Noble Square, responsible for a healthy amount of Ricardo Miranda's output, now pits the Chicago producer alongside Italian upstarts Life's Track and a new project of his own, Defend:r with Yonurican. Life's Track's "Rhythm Composer" is a lurid animal, all damaged synth wails that switch between foul-tempered acid and starry-eyed strings, while the beat spits and snarls in the most purposeful of lo-fi productions. Between them Defend:r manage a more restrained approach, taking the same route through old-school equipment but creating a moody acid piece instead of a manic techno system shock. Miranda on his own cooks up a spread of tools from his array of machines, appealing to the more tricksy spinners out there.

Storm Clouds (5:32)
Burnt Grooves Outro (3:12)
Review: Ricardo Miranda is a DJ and producer from Chicago who heads up Noble Square Recordings. The Deep & The Lost (A Collection Of Lost Music) is his latest album compilation featuring music from the archives that is unreleased, lost, unappreciated and unavailable. Whether it's the deeply evocative opening cut 'Heirs of Rhythms' reaching near spiritual moments in the vein of Joe Clausell, or the soothing mood music of 'Turntable Blues' on the first side, or the dusty, down 'n' dirty vinyl exclusive '118 Deep Vibes' and the sensual 'Storm Clouds' featuring the Latin Soul Brothas - this is really one for the heads. Tip!

Deep House
Altered Feel

Up On The Scene
Up On The Scene Drums
Review: Oh yes, Rawax casual Ricardo Miranda comes through with his latest EP for the German raw house label, and as you'd expect, it's four tracks of grizzly percussion stabs and warm low-ends. "Altered Feel" is an ode to much of Chicago Trax's output thanks to its deep, jacking tone, while "Deep Wax" is a little funkier and loungier in tone. On the flip, "Up On The Scene" goes for the old-school vibes, whereas its drum version draws more heavily on the percussion in what is a serious tool for the more adventurous of you DJ's. Dopeness guaranteed.

Rotary Cells
Greenline
Review: Chicago's Ricardo Miranda makes his debut for the ace Stilove4music label, maintaining a fine year in which he has already dropped some serious heat on Rush Hour sub-label Hour House Is Your Rush and his own Noble Square imprint. Title track "102point 7" is all jagged synths, throbbing arpeggios, slashing claps and a rolling acid groove, marking it out as one of his most incendiary productions to date. On the flip "Rotary Cells" is deeper still, a 909-led jacker with undulating layers of sub bass augmented by a wonderfully woozy vocal which extols the virtues of true Chicago House. This is followed by "Greenline", a stripped back jam with scuttling hats and the kind of paranoid synth melody that wouldn't sound out of place in Jeff Mills' Something In The Sky series. This is dark, raw, pulsating dance music - highly recommended.

You Are Your Art
Review: Ricardo Miranda's "Urbanism" will be familiar to those smart minds out there who indulged in last year's illuminating Rick Wilhite curated Rush Hour comp Vibes New & Rare Music. Sensing the potential for further exploration, Noble Square embellish the gliding utopian ode to Chicago with two new remixes whilst also slipping in an all new Miranda production for good measure. Miranda himself remixes the track as part of the collaborative Chiba project with Argentinean Hernan Cronner which realigns the track down an overtly muggy outer galactic Detroit electro path, with urgent stabs matched by the relentless march of drum machines in full effect. In contrast, Eargasmic's Daryl Cura opts for a subaqueous rattle, with the swathes of emotive chords on an upwards bent - furthermore the gradual interweaving of a hypnotic synth wiggle truly impresses!

Redline
Review: After the family affair of the last Hour House Is Your Rush twelve, the focus remains in Chicago with Ricardo Miranda stepping up and imploring us to "do the damn thing"! If the Howard collaboration was soaked in emotion, then Miranda's is definitely drenched with sweaty energy as "Floorwax" proves to be an intoxicatingly simple yet effective acid filled odyssey. Miranda seemingly strips things back further on the B Side with "Redline" commencing with little more than a raw throbbing beat which gradually teases out a dizzying acid pulse. Just when your brain has locked into gear, Miranda opts to drop in some utopian strings which are the impulse for a massive shift in rhythmic momentum!

Do You Want Me (7:20)
The DJ Knows What I Like (9:32)
Review: Noble Square celebrates its 10 year anniversary with a repress of Chicago's Ricardo Miranda & K Joy's 2011 EP. This 12" features the dusty, deep and soulful blues of "Do You Want Me" which is in the vein of masters like Nick Holder and Kenny Dixon Jr. On the flip we have the dirty late night acid jack of "The DJ Knows What I Like" featuring squeaky synths, rusty rhythm patterns and Joy's sultry come hither vocals. According to the label, 'the original master reels were lost so the YONURICAN SOUL Brotha made all new music.' Noble Square Recordings is a showcase of memorable dance music that seeks to stay grounded in the strong foundation of Chicago's roots. A foundation that includes many forms/styles of underground music, but without the burden of useless labels. Noble Square presents 'not only sonic love but also sonic statements.'

Grooves Vibes & Sessions EP

Moog Sessions (7:34)
Dizzy Vibes (6:13)
Otra Voz (8:32)
Friday Grooves (6:09)
Review: Last year, experienced Chicago producer Ricardo Miranda delivered the first Latin Soul Brothas 12" in four years. Here, he brings the long-running project back to Neroli for the first time since 2012. As usual, he uses the opportunity to fuse traditional Chicago house tropes - the dreamy fluidity of Larry Heard, the sharp acid lines of Phuture, and so on - with percussion and instrumentation from the world of Latin music. The results are uniformly excellent, from the twinkling pianos and winding acid lines of "Dizzy Vibes", to the dusty electronic jazz bliss of closer "Friday Grooves", via the "Brazilian Rhyme"-goes-house shuffle of "Otra Voz".

808 Signatures
Voices Of The World
Faces Revenge
Mental Samurai
Review: Returning to his fruitful Latin Soul Brothas venture, Ricardo Miranda once again reaches across the Atlantic from Chicago to Italy to collaborate with Neroli on this sturdy and varied four tracker. "808 Signatures" instantly stands out, working around a skippy groove that features more cowbell and rimshot than anything else from the fabled drum machine, while a looping synth creates a cheeky, left of centre feel. "Voices Of The World" is a more summery, piano-led jam with a Larry Heard flavour, and "Faces Revenge" pulls everything back for a slow but sturdy DJ tool. "Mental Samurai" cools everything off with another richly melodic jaunt through floating pads and gossamer beats.

Ricardo Miranda - "Polysynthetic Jungle"
Jesus Gonsev & The Troubled Kids Gang - "Neon Nights"
Life Recorder - "Winter Feeling"
Trevor Deep Jr - "T To Da P"
Review: Spanish deep house label Troubled Kids celebrate their 10th release with a various artist EP featuring music from Rush Hour and Neroli act Ricardo Miranda, French producer Life Recorder, Delsin house head Trevor Deep Jr. and label reps Jesus Gonsev & The Troubled Kids Gang. Waves of synths, Chicago bass and snappy snares control Miranda's busy "Polysynthetic Jungle", while The Troubled Kids Gang opt for looped Rhodes and a streamlined arrangement in "Neon Nights". Life Recorder stays deep and piano driven with "Winter Feeling", which transitions into Trevor Deep Jr.'s "T To Da P"; something moodier with a percussive skip. Four solid cuts of deeper, Chicago inspired house.

Toby Tobias - "Love Papers"
NO MILK - "Bubble People"
Marcello Napoletano - "All My Things"
Ricardo Miranda - "Rush Hour"
Review: If you like your deep house lovingly crafted and exquisitely musical, Quintessentials' Deep & Raw & Real rarely disappoints. This latest instalment features four more fabulous international cuts to contend with, each delivering a distinctly different take on deep house. Ricardo Miranda's "Rush Hour" is wonderfully sleepy, offering hissing cymbals and super-deep chords. Toby Tobias, meanwhile, works the filters and backwards effects on "Love Papers", a real string-drenched sweetie. NO Milk's "Bubble People" ups the atmosphere again thanks to some choice double bass loops and distant jazz piano, while Marcello Napoletano's "All My Things" brilliantly recalls early St Germain and Aqua Bassino.
