Review: Norwegian nu-disco hero Rune Lindbaek is the man behind the long running Drum Island Records imprint - which has been bringing the neon-lit boogie down flavours to us for over 20 years! His new imprint delivers some finely tuned edit action and they all sound fairly on point but above all - they're respectful. There's a Patrick Cowley-ish sounding affair like on "Cosmic Oslo", the neon-lit '80's vibe of "Gressholmen" features a familiar synth riff from a certain pop band of the era - but we can't remember which one (they're possibly from Australia!). Get down like a proper Disco Stu on the late night groove of "Kung Fu Man". This is the second release on Rune Lindbaek's Norsk Tripping imprint and follows up the first volume which came out back in 2015.

Review: Is It Balearic? sister label Magic Wand can do no wrong with its long-standing series of cult re-edits. The "Special Editions" branch makes its first move of the year with this smokin' hot clutch of nudged up heaters edited by Rune Lindbaek, leading in with a steamy, dreamy version of Lowrell Simons' "Love Message". Lindbaek also tackles "Hologramas" by Frederico Estevez, simmering the track down to a purposeful, immersive drum roll embellished with nothing but some fluttering flute. His take on Craig Peyton's "Be Thankful For What You Got" is all thrumming arps underpinning a cool and deadly synth pop take on the classic soul jam. The final edit sees Lindbaek riding roughshod on Angel Tears' "Ishka", creating a high drama groover shot through with Eastern mysticism.
