Exclusive Blend (3:22)
Spanish Flea (3:54)
Review: The JalapeNo label sure does like it hot and this one is no different. It sees the return of label regulars Skeewiff for a new series of outings that take the form of reworked covers of some of their favourite library tracks, inspired by greats of the genre such as Keith Mansfield, Brian Bennett, and Alan Hawkshaw. First up is 'Exclusive Blend,' a rather classic instrumental composition by Mansfield. 'Spanish Flea' is on the flip and is a version of a very famous work by Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass Band. It's a funky take with lots of percussive energy and big strings.

Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya (3:28)
Man Of Constant Sorrow (3:40)
Review: The Jalepeno label is a famously fiery funk outlet that serves up more of that dance floor heat here. It comes from Skeewiff's One Sample Short Of A Lawsuit EP back in 2000 and gets pressed to its own tidy 7" here. As the title of that EP suggests, this is music that mashes up the past with a serious of sizzling samples over driving rhythms. 'Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya' is real horn led b-boy stuff with crashing breaks, and on the flip is 'Man Of Constant Sorrow' with its nagging and iconic vocals over a more country-fried funk beat.

Mexican Flyer (4:02)
Delta Dawn (7" edit) (3:51)
Review: Jalapeno founders, insanely prolific musicians, serial alias fiends and all-round jolly good eggs Skeewiff celebrate 21 years with this cheeky time-leaping 45". "Mexican Flyer" is still as dramatic, driving and fun as it was when it took the lead on their 1997 debut album It's All Gone. Horny, heavy and unabashed, it will still smash any party in its path. The same can be said for the gospel flexing "Delta Dawn". Gutsy, sing-along, damn near spiritual, it's the essence of Skeewiff's sense of party mischief. Happy anniversary.

Review: Sometimes records just can't find a home. They try and fit in but they're just too damn different. Nobody wants to be their friend. The other records all think they're a little weird. And so it is with "The Orphans EP". A collection of cuts that don't strictly fit with the rest of what the Skeewiff boys have been putting out of late but that we felt deserved a release all of their own. So who's laughing now huh?!

Light The Fuse
Smash & Grab
Lost Due To Incompetence
Review: "Wet Your Beak", the title track from this EP gives just that advice underpinning said piano man's drunken ravings with a fat breakbeat in true Skeewiff style. Light the fuse is a retro-funk flyer with hot horns and a tight bass and could easily be the theme tune to the best 70s cop show never made. Smash and grab is a lounge-hop number best listened to while shaking a cocktail round a pool wearing a safari suit and big hair. "Lost Due To Incompetence" is a heavy number with Skeewiff supplying funky drummer beats under some electric guitar acrobatics. "Wet Your Beak" is taken from Skeewiff's third album "Private Funktion".
