Voyage EP
Voyage EP (translucent red vinyl 12")
Cat: LCS 007. Rel: 14 Dec 20
Minimal House/Tech House
  1. 300 (6:08)
  2. Key To Success (7:51)
  3. Key To Success (Casey Spillman remix) (6:46)
  4. The Life (7:01)
Review: The Fuse crew's Locus imprint strikes wax again with three head twisting grooves from Tel Aviv's Stephan Bazbaz and a peppy remix from Locus regular Casey Spillman. Fresh from his Djebali collaboration and 'Fraires' EP on Infuse earlier this year, Bazbaz returns with 'Voyage'. '300' buckles us up and lifts us off. Bare bones ingredients with a full fat flavour, this has Craig Richards, 7am, all over it while 'Key To Success' is a much more pumping techno affair. Finally 'The Life' brings us to a hazy, euphoric close. Mild shades of trance and acid punctuating an otherwise soft-focus mix, it's a smooth end to a pleasantly turbulent journey. Bon 'Voyage'.

  1. Mogora
  2. Mogora (Arapu remix)
  3. Immortal
  4. Amaro
Review: Following the release of a handful of fifth anniversary EPs, France's Politics of Dancing Records has decided to kick-start a new era for the label via a joint EP from serial collaborator Stephan Bazbaz and sometime Discotech Wax/4Plae Records contributor Alessio Viggiano. To our ears, the undisputed EP highlight is smooth, spacey and rolling opener 'Mogora', a late '90s style UK tech-house/deep house crossover cut that comes accompanied by a smoother and more hypnotic rework by Arapu. Over on the flip, the pair first offer up the more driving, angular and peak-time ready bounce of 'Immortal', before wrapping sharp, angular electronic melodies and warming chords around more bustling beats on bold closing cut 'Amaro'.

KMRDS 001 (140 gram vinyl 12")

Deep House
  1. Politics Of Dancing - "Ote" (6:29)
  2. Djebali - "Back2life" (7:13)
  3. Terence: Terry: - "Eastern Boy" (6:43)
  4. Stephan Bazbaz - "Ulai" (7:36)
Review: The first release on Kamarads pulls together a solid mix of established tech house figureheads for a classy, versatile set of club tracks. Politics Of Dancing goes up first with 'Ote', a deep and rugged groover geared towards hypnotism and total immersion. Djebali follows up with an equally stealthy roller that will appeal to those who like it stripped back. Terence: Terry takes things in a swirling, trippy direction with the afters-ready 'Eastern Boy' and Stephan Bazbaz finishes up with a gorgeous, lilting deep house lullaby to soothe the weary raver's soul.
