  4. Relacion Especial (Joaquin Lledo remix) (7:42)
Review: Steve O'Sullivan's Bluetrain alias is one of the most revered in techno. Its output spans multiple decades and the quality level has always remain high. It is a project the serves up precision minimal sounds, steeped in dub history and always designed for dance floor hypnosis. 'Relacion Especial' is one of the more playful cuts he has produced, with a catchy trumpet riff layer over silky drums and whimsical chords. With his remix, German wizard Move D blisses it out to make for a perfect early evening house jam, while Joaquin Lledo ups the pressure and brings sun worshipping synths to the fore. A tidy package indeed.

Review: Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan provides some heavyweight Bluetrain business to launch new Isle of Wight based label Lempuyang. The EP kicks off with the stripped down dub of 'Bubble Up', evolving into some heavier shananigans on the flipside. Vocal skits come courtesy of Prince Morella on the B-side opener 'Two Foot Terrorist'. As you'd expect there's no lightweight stuff present here!

  7. Interference (feat Christopher Ledger) (6:52)
  8. Closer (feat Ricardo Villalobos) (7:45)
Review: Steve O'Sullivan has been a prolific collaborator around the deep techno and minimal scene for a long time now, and he really hammers that point home with this expansive new project on Sushitech. Across eight tracks, the Mosaic maestro teams up with artists ranging from premier league titans like Ricardo Villalobos and Brawther through to emergent talents such as Soela and Ben Buitendijk. Each guest artist brings their particular slant to their track, but O'Sullivan's overarching deepness is the glue that binds the release together in a swirl of dubby pads. The results are consistently classy, but you knew that already right?

  8. Home Alone (feat Soela) (4:19)
Review: Ever the enthusiastic collaborator, Steve O'Sullivan follows up the first volume of his Dimensions series on Sushitech with another eight stunning partnerships which read like a who's who of contemporary techno. The artists invited span a fair range, from established legends like Mark Broom and Steve Rachmad to inspiring newer artists including Exos and Soela. The whole release hangs together naturally as O'Sullivan's signature dub techno touch slips in amongst the approaches of his chosen sparring partners. From nervy immersion heaters to starry-eyed reveries, this is sophisticated modern techno at its finest, with every track precision engineered to work in the club and take the crowd somewhere very special indeed.

Dimensions Parallel Edition

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Short Circuit (feat Ricardo Villalobos) (13:21)
  2. The Shadow (feat Thomas Melchior) (10:50)
  3. Beneath The Surface (feat Dana Ruh) (11:45)
  4. Healing Spirals (feat Soela) (9:20)
Review: As if the first two volumes of the Dimensions series weren't enough, Steve O'Sullivan is back on Sushitech with a final Parallels addendum to the collaborative series. On this occasion, the double vinyl set is reserved for four special longform mixes which let the ideas roll out in a truly hypnotic style. Of course, that's exactly how Ricardo Villalobos likes it and 'Short Circuit' tangles up beautifully in a mesh of interlocking rhythmic hiccups and immersive pads. Thomas Melchior holds down a sweet sustained groove for O'Sullivan's illustrious melodics on 'The Shadow' before Dana Ruh helps strip things down even further on the murmuring 'Beneath The Surface'. Soela pops up once again on 'Healing Spirals', lending a delicate and intricate touch which rounds the release off in beautiful, understated style.

Techno
  1. Ancient Roots (7:25)
  2. Godai (7:17)
  3. Sunrise Dub (7:07)
Review: UK veteran Steve O'Sullivan, for our money, remains hugely underrated. His contribution to the worlds of dub, techno and minimalism is up there with any of the most celebrated names. He's been doing his do for decades and still impresses with every new outing. This one lands him on Romanias Playedby and kicks off with 'Ancient Roots', a high speed, urgent track with sweeping chords bringing a sense of swing to slick, linear techno beats. 'Godai' is more cavernous and gloopy, and 'Sunrise Dub' brings warm rays of light to a deep, oceanic dub. Great stuff.

Techno
  1. Off Message (8:38)
  2. Night Nurse (7:20)
  3. Porcupine Groove (7:27)
Review: Throughout his lengthy career, Steve O'Sullivan has proved adept at delivering "proper techno" tracks that are a cut above those of his contemporaries. This re-issued three-tracker for Rawax shows him doing just. A-side 'Off Message' sets the tone, with O'Sullivan layering deep space chords and gentle intergalactic melodies atop a tough-but-rubbery beat. The sweatier and sleazier 'Night Nurse' boasts fizzing, fill-happy drum machine percussion and deep space chords that recall the early years of Detroit techno, while 'Porcupine Grove' is a snappy, pitched-up romp rich in crunchy TR-909 beats, faintly foreboding background chords and tight melodic loops.

Minimal/Tech House
  1. Straight To The Source (7:07)
  2. Hypnotonic (West Side Shuffle) (8:44)
Review: After they last shared wax on Mosaic back in 2017, UK dub techno veteran Steve O'Sullivan and prolific minimal house rising star Frazer Campbell link up once again for the sleek and sophisticated sounds of "Straight To The Source". It's a shuffling, funky workout with understated b-lines to suck you in and subtle splashes of reverb to shape out a heady atmosphere. "Hypnotonic (West Side Shuffle)" on the flip has a more bubbling, psychedelic quality to it, without losing that cool Mosaic veneer that makes these joints so workable in so many different situations.
