Review: Over the last few years, Peter Croce AKA Mr PC has delivered some of the finest re-edits around. Here he returns to Rocksteady Disco with a trio of party-starting revisions. First he turns his attention to Teddy Pendergrass' "Life Is A Circle", extending and lightly beefing up the soaring, Philadelphia International style soul cut for contemporary dancefloors. Speaking of soul, Croce next gets busy with Labelle's shuffling groover "What Can I Do For You?", subtly looping up key sections to turn it into a proper 12" style extended mix. Best of all, though, is flipside "Do What You Wanna Do", a cosmic, percussion-heavy drum jam that cleverly combines elements of cuts from T-Connection and Mutabaruka into one heavy, funk-fuelled late night beast.

Review: 'At Midnight' by T Connection was one of the most important releases in disco music history at the time, key in the way it was a precursor to the more linear, raw house sound that came after it. For this version on High Fashion records, Dr. Packer gives us two remixes highlighting the readymade club bomb. The first mix stays mostly true to the original more like an edit focusing a bit more on the instrumental then the original long version. The pianola dubstrumental mix is the perfect name for the second side version. 'At Midnight' will set off any disco night the right way.

Review: T-Connection more than made their mark on the disco era with some of their biggest hits, but beyond the 12" smashes the group from Nassau also laid down some classic albums in their time. On Fire was their second album, originally released in 1978 and fronted by the title track, one of the tracks the group are best known for. That uptempo stomper is sure to set any party alight, whether the crowd know the tune or not, but there are also powerful ballads like 'Prisoner Of My Mind' and low-slung rollers like 'Lady Of The Night' on hand to give you a full-frequency funk experience that sounds better than ever on this CD reissue from Japanese label Solid.

Review: Re-issue of the TK Disco classic from 1977 and it still sounds as awesome as ever. Particularly if when you get two dons of the current scene to edit it. On the A side Boston's Kon gets on board to give it two fine re-edits. The "Kon Keep It Movin' mix" clocks in at just over eight minutes and works the track main hooks for a lot longer on this cleverly executed an essential edit for any serious DJs box. "Kon's Groove" is a more condensed version of the previous and great modern revision of the track. On the flip we've got none other than Todd Terje, giving Jimmy McGriff's classic "Tailgunner" a tasty re-edit too. The classic from 1977 gets its epic Hammond Jazz organ solo extended over nearly seven minutes of glory!

Disco/Nu-Disco
Review: Alongside the likes of Joey Negro and the Reflex, Luca Locatelli AKA Moplen has proved to be a masterful multi-track editor, crafting killer versions of tracks by Candi Staton, Chaka Khan, Skyy, Diana Ross and Talking Heads using the original master tapes. This tasty 12" offers further proof of his skills via two new takes on T Connection disco-funk classic "Do What You Wanna Do". The side A remix is a great example of his craft, with Locatelli teasing out key instrumental elements - spacey synthesizer solos and intergalactic chords, for starters - before unleashing the Miami band's original groove and vocals. If anything, the flipside, delay-laden Dub is arguably even better, with Locatelli choosing to showcase the band's heavy, Latin style percussion breaks, spacey synths and heavy bassline. Bravo!
