Review: Pretty much all Drumcode releases are colossal and anthem-like - it's the imprint's niche, after all - but this two-tracker from Stockholm stalwart Tiger Stripes is particularly sizeable. A-side 'Nocturne', for example, is as driving, mind-altering and breathless as they come, with Hardfloor style acid motifs, twinkling piano breakdowns, trancey riffs and enveloping aural textures rising above a blisteringly tough and intense beat. The pulsating tech-trance vibe is further explored on 'Renegade', a track whose elongated, slowly rising breakdown - which comes complete with glassy-eyed vocal samples, does a brilliant job in stirring the senses and raising the pressure out on the dancefloor.

Review: Drumcode welcomes back veteran producer Tiger Stripes for his latest release, a label the Swede is no stranger to, following up such lovely titles as Back In Black, Into Desolation, and Insanity. Much like the aforementioned, the Rocket EP is aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor at peak time, featuring four fierce sonic weapons that get the job done properly. From the steely and pummelling assault of the title track and its seething Reese bassline, to the rave motifs which continue on the equally austere 'Fire' and over on the flip he takes you into the dark side of euphoria on the epic 'Song For Debbie'.

Review: Tiger Stripes has always dealt in the deeper, more hypnotic end of electronic music. Now the veteran brings the techno to Adam Beyer's foremost Drumcode outlet across two fierce and fearsome tracks. "Jack the Garage" has synths straight from a computer game soundtrack in the early naughties. They shoot like lasers over the hardcore, slamming drums and dark vocal loops add to the pressure. "Back In Black" is more haunting, with tortured sounding vocals, drilling synths and squelchy chords that bring twists and turns every step of the way. Both of these cuts are highly weaponised affairs.

Review: Tiger Stripes never ceases to amaze us with his disco-fantastical production skills. This new tune is no exception. "Voyage" is a lovely club instrumental with drawn-out strings, plucks, and jabs. Almost Moroder-esque. It will be quite difficult to decide which of the two mixes to play. Well then, you may just have to play them both.

Deep techno meets driving percussion across the board on this one, with "What Was" setting the tempo: chunky Latin grooves laid over with buzzing basslines, hypnotic key stabs and an uplifting atmosphere.
