Review: Weme presents, 'Various Acid'. The genre-bending artists such as Ed DMX, Chris Moss, Todd Osborn (SoundMurderer),
Ceephax, Cylob, Syntheme, Yuri Lewitt and Luke Vibert need no introduction. United on this record to celebrate the magi
vibe of acid, each of them with their own personality. When we thought we had seen it all, this piece of wax goes a step
further then your usual acid; it's more than a compilation, it's a modern acid manifesto. This is Acid.

Review: Todd Osborn. For many, the name conjures up myths, tall tales told within the world of electronic music. Todd: makes hovercrafts; repairs motorcycles out of his garage; fixes vintage jukeboxes; creates handmade components for espresso machines; flies fighter jets; is a Lego expert, owns a record label with his son that releases music by Aphex Twin, Madlib and Underground Resistance; has a stunning collection of rare whiskeys. True? All of it, of course. Reviewing a CV of the varied styles and sounds of Todd Osborn is like a museum-grade survey of records from electronic music's ultimate outsider artist. Yet, Todd Osborn has never been outside. From releasing jungle on Rephlex with Tadd Mullinix as Soundmurderer & SK-1 to house and jaking club music as Osborne on Ghostly International, to bright, chiptuned boogie as Superstructure, Todd Osborn has done it all. From there? We haven't yet scratched the surface. For over 20 years, Todd Osborn has been a permanent fixture in music, touring internationally at music festivals, warehouse raves, gabber parties in fields to giving lectures at Red Bull Music Academy and in turn hosting the most diverse programme on Red Bull Radio. To boot? Todd Osborn opened the best record store in the USA, in Ypsilanti, MI. Portage Garage Sounds is thrilled, humbled, to present this three song EP, SuperDisc.

Over & Over (MRSK remix)
Review: Hot on the heels of Put Your Weight On It, his excellent recent EP for Running Back, Todd Osborn returns to Jared Wilson's label, 7777, with another dose of hard-to-pigeonhole dancefloor funk. "Throwdown" sets the tone, melding raw machine beats with rave-era acid bass, Belgian techno stabs and near psychedelic electronics. "Over & Over" , meanwhile, laces UK garage style melodies, darting synths and punchy vocal samples over a vintage house breakbeat. That track is given the remix treatment by MRSK, who turns it into an unfeasibly intense, jacking chunk of vintage acid house. It's the aural equivalent of being violently assaulted down a dark alley, only with less blood and more dancing.

Review: Fresh from welcoming Swedish pair Genius of Time into the Running Back fold, Gerd Janson's next order of business is to coax Todd Osborn into contributing his first material for the label in some seven years. Depending on your musical tastes, you might know the Detroit-based musician for his ragga-influenced junglist excursions as Soundmurderer (sometimes alongside SK-1 aka Tadd Mullinix), the cassette-only ragged hardware acid of his Superstructure project, or the more house-orientated output released as Osborne and his given name. It was under the latter that he debuted on Running Back with Giganta back in 2007, so the sight of this T-rhythm Trax Vol 1 is most welcome. As the title suggests, the five tracks here are neck snapping techno tools of the highest order.

What Is Love
Michigan Dream
752am
Review: FaltyDL's Blueberry Records follows up excellent releases from Brrd with the Michigan Dream EP from one of Detroit's most underrated figures in the shape of Todd Osborn. Although best known for his work on Ghostly as Osborne, this EP under his own name covers similarly wide-ranging ground, with the peak time boogie house of of "5thep" sitting alongside the punishing acid techno of "What Is Love" on the A-side, and the hip hop vibes of the title track complemented by the almost footwork rhythms and shimmering melodies of 752am on the flip. Another essential release from Blueberry.
