Review: Having spent the last few years delivering occasional 12" singles on Pets Recordings, Danish producer Uffe Christensen returns to Tartelet, who put out his jazz-flecked debut 12", Straess, back in 2012. Radio Days is Christensen's full-length debut, and offers a range of tracks that mix sample-heavy cuts with elements of analogue-only sessions recorded at a friend's studio in Copenhagen. It's an enjoyable listen, with dusty and woozy dancefloor cuts (check the fuzzy, Rhodes-heavy deep house of "Lemon Nights" and disco-referencing "Space Loop") being joined by some sublime downtempo moments (see, in particular, the piano-laden bliss of "Your Reality" and head-nodding warmth of "Saw Your Laughing"). Interestingly, Christensen offers weary vocals on a number of tracks, which actually enhance the listening experience.

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Surprisingly (7:09)
  2. Lotte's Hippie House (4:47)
  3. Narkoministeren (10:52)
Review: Rising from the airwaves in a tangible label reality; Nos Classics launches with main man Uffe who lays down three introspective, immersive grooves. "Surprisingly" sounds similar to the worlds you might find shared between Dominick Martin and Andrew Ashong with its low-toned narrative and spiralling instrumentation, "Lotte's Hippie-House" is the ebb and flow of hope flickering over a light percussive weave while "Narkoministeren" takes over the B for a wild 11 minute excursion that's heavy on the percussion and mystic detours. Stunning.

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. No Clue (5:38)
  2. Strange Brief Thing (4:25)
  3. Remember To Forget (5:32)
  4. In Some Other Place (5:04)
Review: Following fine outings from Inkswel and Johnny Rock, the good burghers at Oye Records have turned to Uffe Christensen for the latest volume in the occasional Oye Edits series. The Amsterdam-based producer hits the ground running on opener "No Clue", a thrillingly tribal Afro workout that boasts little more than heavy drums and occasional chants. "Strange Brief Thing" is a punchy, horn-heavy rework of a solo-laden disco-funk slammer, while "Remember To Forget" sees him playing around with a Balearic-era, clarinet-laden blue-eyed soul shuffler. Finally, he returns to the world of disco-funk via the rubbery electric bass, razor-sharp guitars and slack-tuned drums of "In Some Other Place". As re-edit releases go, this is one of the hottest we've heard in some time.

No 30 EP (limited 12")
Cat: TART 030. Rel: 15 Dec 14
Deep House
  1. Tito Wun - "Clipper Skit"
  2. Glenn Astro & Imyrmind - "Bochum"
  3. Uffe - "Lemon Nights"
  4. Max Graef - "Tertylerd"
  5. Damiano Von Erckert - "Last One"
Review: Tartelet have called upon a serious spread of heads for this sprawling selection of funk-infused, loose and lively house jams. Glenn Astro & Imyrmind are wonderfully dusty and downplayed on "Bochum", while Uffe brings plentiful amounts of Rhodes and other such joyous keys to a thoroughly funky conclusion. Max Graef has an equally shuffling, hand-played time of it, while Damiano Von Erckert gets a tighter groove out to get his own party started. Whichever track you plump for the sounds come on organic and soulful in the extreme, while the arrangements will have bodies popping all over the joint.
