Techno
  1. Between Mars (5:17)
  2. Moon Machine (5:00)
  3. Exo Planet (5:42)
Review: Thus far all we know about Wilson Phoenix is pressed into the previous two records the anonymous operator has released so far in 2018. That should be enough for techno heads with their ears to the ground - this is rough and ready hardware business for those who like it nasty. While not perhaps as willfully unhinged as Neil Landstrumm, it's very much in that sonic ballpark, not least on relentless acidic opener "Between Mars." Things get a little freakier with the pinging electro delights of "Moon Machine" before the rowdy rave beast "Exo Planet" levels the landscape with some brutal synth stabs that would sound at home on an early The Prodigy record.

Deep House
  1. Got My Man (6:07)
  2. Same Life (6:59)
  3. Good Feel (6:13)
Review: Wilson Phoenix is an unknown producer at this stage in the game, although it's not likely to stay that way for long. The lead track on this hand-stamped white label 12" is clearly "Got My Man," a ferocious peak time house burner loaded with slap bass funk and clever use of vocals. It was good enough for Jackmaster to slam into his Mastermix, which tells you all you need to know about how ubiquitous this track could easily become. "Same Life" is no different, making great use of a Lisa Stansfield lick and strapping it to a dead-eyed tech house burner. "Good Feel" turns up the disco heat without losing that stomping energy, completing a package for only the most muscular of DJs to be dropping into their sets.

Techno
  1. Expansion
  2. Space Being
  3. Field Control
Review: The buzz around the first Wilson Phoenix release was huge - good luck finding a copy of that one! The mysterious techno entity returns for round two and delivers the goods once more with some razor sharp club cuts that smartly straddle vibes without losing their way. "Expansion" is a fist-pumping, 90s-indebted techno workout with an urgent stomp at its heart - the pointed Motor City stabs and raw 909 drums are a gift for anyone wanting to whip the crowd up. "Space Being" is a wilder affair with bright and bold synth leads splattered over a sizzling electro beat. "Field Control" mans the B side with a robotic throwdown that should tickle electro, wave, new beat and house heads as much as techno fiends.

Wilson Phoenix 04 (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: WP 04. Rel: 18 Mar 19
Techno
  1. Dorphin (5:16)
  2. Dexed (4:40)
  3. Dugong (5:29)
Review: The mysterious Wilson Phoenix returns with another batch of muscular techno joints that'll wipe the floor with any half-hearted 4/4 pretenders. Considering how sought after his earlier releases are, don't expect this to hang around for long. The beastly 909 kicks on "Dorphin" would slot in perfectly with Head Front Panel's own blown out take on peak time rabble rousing techno, while the kick-clap sync on "Dexed" will get fists a-shaking. It's not all blunt drums though - there's plenty of peppy colour splashed all over this record to make it stand out from the crowd. This ain't no monochrome chugging business!
