  3. Bukez Finezt - "Benz" (5:09)
  4. Onhell - "Sun Ra" (3:30)
Review: One of the most prominent and on-point dubstep labels to emerge in recent years, Youngsta's Sentry hits new peaks with their first V/A album. The full set will include the likes of Argo, Taso, Sukh Knight, Mr K, LSN, Nomine, Opus and many more contemporary low end visionaries. And it kicks off right here with a truly international collective; Truth, Caspa, Bukez Finezt, Onhell. From New Zealand to Cali via Germany and UK, all vibes are explored here... Cosmic swagger on Truth's "Simulation Theory", paranoid gravity-defying deepness on Caspa's "Anyone Else" and proper Mozart-flavoured 808 mischief from Bukez Finezt. Onhell brings this remarkable syndication to a close with the wavey, poignant "Sun Ra". Bring on the whole album.

Review: 50 Weapons indulge Tony Williams's expansive take on current dance culture as Addison Groove. Put simply, Transistor Rhythm looks gorgeous, with design heavily indebted to Williams' clear passion for the Roland 808 and the tracks spread gloriously across two slabs of thick vinyl (there's an even beefier 3xLP version out too!). Musically, Transistor Rhythm explores the same areas of crisp, finely sculpted rhythms that have graced Swamp 81 and 3024 in recent times, with the smart sample usage on tracks such as "Night To Remember" complemented by a clutch of guest spots.

Review: Stepping up with his second album for 50 Weapons, Addison Groove is once again mining the rhythmic excitement of juke and footwork and working it into his blue-hued melodic headspace. Standout vocal cut '"Just You" is a prime example of the upbeat flavour across the album, while "11th" matches the plush harmonies with moodier switch-ups, and "The Spirit Level" drops the tempo into a house bump that lends itself to the illustrious synth sweeps. Typically though the beats are in that twitchy middle ground between dubstep and footwork, leaving plenty of space for razor-sharp constructions and dazzling edits as best demonstrated on the dynamic acid roll of "Space Apples". Chaos abounds on the B Side where Developer's frantic side is shown via "Promiscuous" whilst the tightly wound "Pulstar" is quite hypnotic.

Review: Alex Banks has endured something of a stop-start career, first hitting record shelves in 2007 under the Munk 777 alias before finally returning - largely as a renowned DJ and remixer - a couple of years back. Here the Brighton producer finally fulfils his early promise with an excellent debut album for Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records. Illuminate sits somewhere between grandiose post-dubstep, sinewy string-laden deep house, jazz-flecked techno, murky glitch-hop and folksy electronica, with grandiose dancefloor moments (the gloriously rushing "Inititate") nestling side by side with woozier, more introspective pieces (the Bonobo-goes-electronic jazz of "Lights"). Immaculately produced and impressively atmospheric throughout, it's the sort of debut album that should propel Banks towards the upper echelons of electronic music.

Review: We don't usually condone lying here at Juno, but when you tell seven of them across a beautiful nine track debut album, it's absolutely acceptable. Applaudable, even. Highlights across this deep, tightly woven bass adventure include the Portishead-style trippy dubtronica of "Comos Los Cerdos", the somnambulant drones and breathy washes of "Lies", the nagging techno loopery of "Dam" and the trembling graveyard soul of "Arcana".

Review: Let's go back to 2013; the year when a young Felix Manuel released his debut album Seven Lies. It followed a string of successful broken beat/beat fusions followed by his sophomore album "Portrait With Firewood" that was received with critical acclaim. Six years later, Seven Lies enjoys a long-awaited repress and it still sounds just as warm, immersive and molten as did all those years ago. The voluptuous folds and rolls of "Dam", the pensive space and heavy atmospheric pressure of "Lies" and the beautiful euphoric fizz of the finale "Thankyou", the list of highlights go on. Grab this if it's not in your collection already.

Review: Sitting somewhere between Digitalism, Chromeo and Sam Feldt, mysterious duo Fabrikate have blasted out of nowhere with their disco-kissed synth boogie. Big on hooks, even bigger on the feels, their debut album has landed with precision timing as tracks like the instant sing-along "Good Times", the introspective electro of "Philly" and the vocoder ballad "Atari" will soundtrack any given summer moment imaginable. With shades of WhoMadeWho, Royksopp and Kraak & Smaak throughout, this will appeal to anyone with an ear for great songs and unforgettable electronic hooks.

Review: Created over the course of 2017, Calendar Project saw Feverkin creating 12 tracks and corresponding videos in an audio/visual diary that reflects the moods and feelings of the month. Created using his talented musicianship, Foley sounds and everything within his resources, the US artist created something truly unique capturing the momentum of the seasons we all experience together. Now available for the first time on vinyl, the album's timeless brushstrokes hit just as hard; the soft focus two step of "March", the balmy Lemon Jelly style twinkles and shimmers of "May", the dusty sunset haze of "July", the list goes on... A genuinely singular album.

Since his self-titled debut in 2012 Flume has gone from beat-digger's delight to global sensation who has influenced producers in all walks of sounds from hip-hop to D&B. Mercifully Skin delivers and exceeds expectations: from the gritty wonks of "Wall Fuck" and "16.3" to the airwave-ready songwriting of "Never Be Like You" and "Say It" by way of the introspective, fathomless electronic textures of tracks such as "When Everything Was New" and "Like Water", Harley has taken care to explore his widest influences and references points while treading the balance between retaining his signature but not repeating himself.

Review: It seems fitting that the hundredth and final volume in the "FabricLive" mix series should also be its most hotly anticipated. Coming from heavyweight heroes Kode9 and Burial - whose previous back-to-back mix for Mary-Anne Hobbs' show eight years ago has reached near mythical status. The album is a wonderfully full-throttle and mixed-up affair, with the shadowy bass lieutenants giddily flitting between quick-fire sections focusing on South African gqom, footwork, Juke, vintage hardcore, early jungle and more contemporary dancefloor experimentalism, each broken up by typically blazed and paranoid ambient interludes and the occasional surprise selection. There's a lot going on throughout, but that only adds to the fun. In other words, it's a triumphant finale to a landmark mix series.

Review: Since his last solo album dropped six years ago, James "Logos" Parker has spent much of his studio time collaborating with fellow Tectonic alumnus Mumdance. Fittingly, the latter makes a brief appearance on "Imperial Flood" - on the high-octane, mind-altering madness of "Zoned In" - but otherwise the album is the solo Logos set we've been craving for some time. It sees Parker saunter between moody, unsettling ambience, psychedelic electronica, spaced-out experimental soundscapes (see the clandestine "Lighthouse Dub"), and the kind of hard-to-define workouts whose hard-edged rhythmical pulse plays second fiddle to atmospheric electronics and intergalactic modular noise. In other words, it's Parker veering away from the dancefloor with impressively out-there results.

Review: After his Room(s) long player for Planet Mu confirmed him as an unsung hero amongst US beatsmiths, Travis Stewart follows up that gargantuan effort with this turn for Ninja Tune. It's a deeply atmospheric album that works Stewart's palpable love of jungle breaks into richly atmospheric pieces that move through sometimes mournful, sometimes dreamlike spaces that hang together like all the pieces of a creative puzzle should. At times the tone is blissful, as on "Center Your Love", while the immaculate breaks give way to strung out coldwave balladry on "U Still Lie". His sense of adventure as intact as ever, Stewart happily follows up such contemplation with the feisty tech-step precision of "Eyesdontlie", ensuring there's never a dull moment across the ten tracks.

Review: Given the hype that surrounded the release of the first Moderat set back in 2009, we can surely expect more of the same for this second outing from Apparat and Modeselektor. Those familiar with the first album's woozy blend of IDM, Thom Yorke indebted vocal dreaminess, porchlight techno and post-dubstep rhythms will immediately feel right at home. Online reviews have focused largely on II's atmospheric warmth, and the way in which the Berlin-based trio seems to have refined their sound. Both are valid critiques; certainly, there's a maturity and musical complexity to the album that betters much of their previous works. It's not much of a dancefloor set, but that's entirely the point; this is locked-in headphone listening for the wide-eyed generation.

Review: Ross Birchard has been such an omnipresent figure on modern electronic music as Hudson Mohawke it seems strange to think Lanterns is only his second album. A lot has happened in the world of Hud Mo in the six 6 years since his Warp issued debut set Butter (hello Kanye) and the 14 track Lanterns comes across as a more compelling and adventurous album from the Scottish producer. Featuring some interesting guest appearances (Anthony Hegarty, Irfane, Miguel, Ruckazoid, Jhene Aiko) it's clear Lanterns is being presented as a chance for Birchard to reach the next level, and packs in a whole load of musical ideas along the way.

Review: Russian-Austrian by roots, Scottish by upbringing, RBMA alumni and multi-instrumentalist Motsa levels up with this extraordinary debut album. An 11 track opus delivered over two heavyweight 12"s, "Perspectives" spans his full breadth from dark broken bass ("Ritual Angel") to uncut euphoria ("Hyperreality") via urgent, panic-mode breaks laced with mournful harmonies ("World War III") and all types of emotional and complex shades between. From total uplift to grave melancholy, if you've so much as sniffed at an Apparat, Trentemoller, James Zabiela or Nathan Fake record then you'll be all over this. Exceptional.

Review: The Horo label wouldn't be complete without the mischievous industrial patterns of Pact Infernal, a mysterious artist who specialises in all things on the grey end of the scale. Infernality is the artist's second LP for the imprint and, compared to his debut CD album, this dwells on much vaster, more cinematic landscapes that remind us of Prurient's top material. The A-side, a cavernous stretch of earth that goes from "Purification" to "Meditations", has been constructed with the notion of tribalism very much front of mind, and this builds at a constant rate to reach the climax of the B-side. "Principles" heads back to the nether zone with its eerie swarms of bass, while "Infernality" drops the listener into a thick swamp of loose beats and mind-bending background effects. The second vinyl follows the same steady path to all-out doom, dipping and rising at every turn with the help of powerful bass recipes floating in mid-air. It's an album of gloom, passion, dread and euphoria, all at the same time. Excellent stuff.

Review: Stop the press! Peverelist is back in the game. This is a special announcement for various reasons; first and foremost, the mythical Bristolian hasn't been all too active on out charts as of late, and he most certainly hasn't turned in an album for quite some time. Back on his own Livity Sound stable, the artist's new album, Tessellations, sees the man take a different route to his previous excursions, one that's much more focused on deep tribalism and percussion. The first four segments, from "Burning Sea" to "Sheer Chance Matters" all approach the equation through slightly different lenses; the first two being grounded in ambience of polyrhythmic movement, while the following two mould into a subtle 4/4 flow, but the same ambience is present throughout. This is the same for "Wireframes" all the way to "Plateau", where Peverelist has shaped a new sort of minimalism into his rolling punch of tech-minded bass. Could this be the start of something new? We definitely think so...

Review: The best thing since Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful", Denmark and Norway's Aqua, to '90s R&B, Trance and '00s Dubstep combined is Sophie's Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides. With more meta-references than you can poke a brain at, the album and its hyper-array of sounds is set to light up the couture cosmo of New York City as much as it is a teenager's bedroom south of the border. In effect, Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides is one of the most colourful excursions through music you can have, striking off a plethora of pop music iterations, to rave, deep ambient and the most experimental of dance music. A seriously defining album by one of modern day music's greatest minds. Roll out the red carpet.

Review: Paul Woolford's second album under the Special Request alias is a very different beast to its predecessor, 2013's Soul Music. While that was little less than a strobe-fired romp through Woolford's early, rave-era influences, Belief System is an altogether more complex and considered affair. Stretched to 23 tracks over two action-packed discs, the album took three years to produce, contains a number of modular hardware explorations, and features elements of tracks recorded by Woolford as far back as 1993. The sheer breadth and depth of the material is, at times, staggering, as the veteran Leeds producer giddily mixes and matches elements of electro, techno, cinematic soundtracks, hardcore, acid, jungle and experimental electronica. In a word: stunning.

Review: Paul Woolford has spent a good chunk of his downtime over the last year or two making Special Request tracks in his pants. So much so, in fact, that he's created enough material to fill four albums, all of which will be released this year. "Vortex" is the first and is, in Woolford's own words, high on "bangers" and low on "conceptual guff". In practice, that means lots of gut-busting low-end frequencies, trippy analogue electronics, razor-sharp rave-style riffs and bustling rhythms that variously touch on electro, early '90s progressive house, breakbeat hardcore, slamming Joey Beltram style techno (see album highlight "Fahrenheit 451") and metallic, delightfully mangled drum and bass ("Fett", whose wonky electronic undulations hark back to early Woolford classic "Erotic Discourse").

Review: Om Unit takes it to the bridge once again. His label's first V/A collection since its evergreen "Cosmology Selections" in 2017, it's another vast plain ripe in sonic depths and textures from some of the most left-minded, boundary-fusing captains in the bass game. Featuring two crucial link-ups from the bossman himself with two kindred spirits Djrum and Synkro plus a whole cosmic cornucopia of voyages from the likes of Danny Scrilla, J:Kenzo, Vromm and stacks more, every track is a highlight in its own beguiling way. No label flares with the same level of dark vitality, there's more than enough for our brains to chew on right here.

Review: Astrophonica's first Fracture curated "Gradient" compilation, released in early 2017, was something of an overlooked delight; a killer collection of imaginative and occasionally off-kilter drum and bass cuts that defied lazy categorization. Happily, this follow-up is, of anything, even better. Compare and contrast, for example, the razor-sharp, hot-stepping ragga/dubstep/D&B fusion of Sam Binga, Lewis James and Rider Shafique's "Ever Fresh", and the thrilling jungle/acid house fusion of Luke Vibert's brilliantly bonkers "165 303". Or, for that matter, the sax-laden depth of BSN Posse's half-time "No Matter How Far", or the bass-weight dubstep heaviness of "Hennessy Brown" by Groves. Throw in similarly impressive cuts from Falty DL, Sully, Dream Continuum and Fracture himself, and you have a wonderfully diverse and on-point set of tracks.

Review: Alix Perez rallies up the troops once again for another smouldering selection of futurism from a truly all-star cast ranging from Tsuruda to Bredren. Playfully writhing amid that dark but so fertile bass hinterland that joins jungle, hip hop, beats and all shades in between, once again we run the gamut from somnambulant soul (Halogenix's super deep "Trouble") to lively steppy warped D&B (SubMarine's "IWY", Razat's "Simplicity", Monty's "Decisions") by way of the unclassifiable (Alix's switchy swampy beast "Poison Ivy", Deft's "Trips"). And we do say so with that awesome sense of unknown, unease and tension that Alix, his label and his equally innovative affiliates have made themselves known for. Welcome to the future.
