Propulse (6:11)
Central Zone (6:00)
Virile Frame (5:29)
Propulse (Lost Trax remix) (8:33)
Review: Boom! The merciless Tabernacle imprint welcomes Samuel Van Dijk back into the fold under his VC-118A name, after the Dutchman first graced the label back in 2013. Van Dijk is an artist whose been quietly releasing music under a number of different aliases including Mohlao and Multicast Dynamics for some time now but seems to have found his groove with VC-118A. This latest project is a little grittier and more lo-fi than compared to his other ones, where tracks like "Propulse" and "Central Zone" possess a glitchy, minimal tone in a slow-tempo electro coating. On the flipside, "Virile Frame" is a hypnotic and a whole lot more in the vein of classic electro, while Lost Trax remixes "Propulse" into a raging, pseudo-acid monster. Wet and wild.

Itinerant Club (DJ Stingray remix)
Itinerant Club (Mr G remix)
Review: To date the Itinerant Dubs label has acted as an exclusive platform for original productions from it mysterious founders across imperious four 12"s issued that drew from all corners of bass culture but sounded like little else. With their identity still under wraps, this fifth release on the label suggests Itinerant Dubs do possess a certain degree of clout with Stingray and Mr G, two elder statesmen of the electronic underground, invited to rework the track "Itinerant Club". If you've been following recent transmissions from DJ Stingray you'll know he's taking the Detroit electro template in some devilish directions right now and his remix reaffirms that, taking "Itinerant Club" into a sonic realm comparable to vintage Skull Disco. The rampant and marauding warehouse techno refix from Mr G is equally inspired. Grip quick or regret!

Chain Of Memories (7:05)
Ascendant Machines (4:43)
Amphibious Architecture (5:44)
Ubicomp Malfunction (6:57)
Review: Bleep43 crew member Emile Facey, aka Plant43, returns for one of his irregular conceptual forays on Svreca's Semantica Records. Continuing the theme of his previous two Semantica releases, the four strong suite of intense electro revolves around Facey's sonic travels through the imaginary Sentient City. If you have indulged in previous Plant43 output you will know the London artist possesses a masterful range and it's displayed wonderfully here. Opener "Chain Of Memories" combines ripples of richness with the instantly gratifying snap of 808 programming, whilst "Ascendant Machines" is a wonderful example of his ear for melody. B side opener "Ubicomp Malfunction" veers into alien territory whilst "Amphibious Architechture" offers a contemplative finale.

Is It Wrong?
Review: Stories of Prison sees Timothy J Fairplay returns to Emotional Response having helped shape the identity of the label in it's infancy with the release of Somebody, Somewhere back in 2012. A lot of music has come from both artist and label since then, with Fairplay's reputation as a solo artist fully established thanks to releases on a myriad of labels. Stories of Prison is a mini LP rich in the musical intensity Fairplay has instilled in all his music to date, yet there is a daring sense of diversity at play too. From the effervescent dubbed out house toughness of opening track "The Quay", Fairplay veers into subaquatic breakbeat, deep synth Love From Outer Space chuggers, and other late night sonic treats.

Review: A genuinely unique project; Fundamental's Alex Stark created this highly limited and beautifully presented project via his love for Cygnus. This led to Biosoft Records which led to the discovery of Patronen, a man who made two album's worth of material (and probably more) on analogue machines in the early 90s and refuses to move from shadows. Twin Paradox celebrates this prolific, formative work across two albums. With the classic electro angularities and epic synthetic cosmicity are very much of their time, there's an overwhelming sense of timelessness and relevance to the project too. We reckon if you listen to cuts such as the poignant, reflective "Abstand" or the distorted, shuffling phrases and positive harmonics of "Karlsruhe Nach Basel" in 20 years time, they'll still sound just as icy and futuristic. We also reckon you need to jump on this investment now! With only 100 printed, this will sell out very quickly. (CLEAR VINYL EDITION)

Do You Want To Get Down?
Review: ** REPRESS ** Following the series of Drexciya retrospectives on Clone, Tresor has dug their own sizable archives to revisit some of the work James Stinson and Gerald Donald committed to the Berlin institution in their time working together. Having already reissued the Drexciya LP Return To Neptunes Lair, Tresor now present a reissue of The Opening Of The Cerebral Gate, the 2001 LP from the late James Stinson's Transllusion project. Initially released on Tresor offshoot Supremat, this new triple LP edition from the label includes three cuts that were not present on the original vinyl version. Given how much og copies command on the second hand market, Drexciya fans without a copy should consider this an essential purchase!

Picture Painters
Porcelain Candy
Sweet Little Cheeky
Review: The Barba sister label to Zagreb's finest house music operation Burek Records launched late last year with a fine debut release from Alex Cortex's LD Nero project and it's another well respected studio head at the helm for Barba 002. This Juno reviewer is still piecing together bits of their brain after it got shattered by Marco Bernardi's recent outing on Abstract Forms and the irrepressible Bristol based artist is on similarly impressive form for this Barba platter. Lead cut "Picture Painters" is demonic electro teetering on the point of glorious malfunction, and there is a similar freneticism to "Sweet Little Cheeky". Bernardi really runs the voodoo down on "Porcelain Candy" though, an epic journey through constantly shifting electro with laser like synths firing throughout. Great stuff!

First Light
Review: Signal Code label boss Costelloe digs deep and chows down on techno's deepest tendrils: electro. Razor-sharp, reflective and icier than a January skinny dip in the North Sea, it pays respect to the roots with true authenticity. Marco Bernardi heartily invests with two disparate twists - one abstract, warehouse-shaking techno version and a gritty, paranoid angular electro reboot. "First Light" closes the show on a deep, house flavoured number that's not dissimilar to Sabres Of Paradise.

Wallonie (David Vunk & Spacemaker remix)
Review: Launched last year, Electronic Emergencies was a fine addition to the cluster of interesting labels hailing from Rotterdam with a quite excellent album from Dutch electro icon Das Ding a most illustrious debut release. Here EE resurface with a release of less familiar origin; Wallonie by mystery production unit SOS. What is lacking in available information is more than made up in musical impact with title track "Wallonie" a powerful exercise in discordant electronics that aims to unsettle and does so with aplomb. It's complemented by the equally dark, yet more futuristic sounding "Aqua" whilst Moustache Records man David Vunk and EE co-founder Spacemaker collude for a remix of "Wallonie" that brings to mind Frak at their greatest!

Review: Authentic analogue action from German electro upstart Das Muster. Stepping up with five icicle grooves, here he flicks from unadulterated, droning paranoia ("Die Suche") to Vibert-style acid bubbles ("Reaktionszeit") via twist synth-bent drama ("Abgeschlossener Vorgang") and Black Strobe proto techno ("Sendezentrale"). "Spaetfolgen" closes the show, taking us back to the icy alienating body funk he kicked off with. Immaculate darkness.
