Auslander (7:03)
Auslander (PM dub) (6:57)
Auslander (First Contact) (4:52)
Review: The full impact team behind Auslander count Wax'o Paradiso resident Andy Hart, 'Melbourne's number one party boy' Tom Lally and Fantastic Man among their numbers. Their self-titled debut comes via Hart's own emergent Voyage label and features a triple hit of bristling eponymous electro mood setters. Hogging the A side, "Auslander" is quite the cosmic epic at seven minutes, intensity levels deftly rising and falling as the track progresses with some fine arpeggio work on display. On the flip, the "PM Dub" adds a bit of grit into the mix along with the expected delay, whilst the "First Contact" version opts for a widescreen new age panorama.

Is It Wrong?
Review: Stories of Prison sees Timothy J Fairplay returns to Emotional Response having helped shape the identity of the label in it's infancy with the release of Somebody, Somewhere back in 2012. A lot of music has come from both artist and label since then, with Fairplay's reputation as a solo artist fully established thanks to releases on a myriad of labels. Stories of Prison is a mini LP rich in the musical intensity Fairplay has instilled in all his music to date, yet there is a daring sense of diversity at play too. From the effervescent dubbed out house toughness of opening track "The Quay", Fairplay veers into subaquatic breakbeat, deep synth Love From Outer Space chuggers, and other late night sonic treats.

Valium (4:54)
Review: Inaugurated by Dollkraut last year, Pinkman sister label Charlois has developed nicely into its own distinct concern thanks to 12" releases from Tim Fairplay, Herzel, and Roberto Auser. Hornet Green sees Dollkraut return to Charlois in triumphant fashion, with the four track 12" Pascal Pinkert's first release of note since he dropped his debut LP on The Gym late last year. Having given the 12" a few spins, we reckon this might be the best Dollkraut 12" yet with the Dutchman really embracing the creative freedom afforded by Charlois. There is a different approach shown on each of the four tracks, though Pinkert's personality shines throughout! Our pick? The wonderful motorik shuffle of final track "Valium".

Mechanical Music Menace
Review: Radioactive Man on Reinhardt! Lead track "White Light Monochrome" channels a mechanical rhythm, with a tip of the hat to electronic music founders Kraftwerk. Intensively building to the 3 minute plus mark, before haunting keys lead the way, descending into a cybernetic electro workout. "Future Driver Space Ranger" takes to the audio freeway, mainlined for Detroit. Imprinted with Tenniswood'S unmistakable style, finely honed snares layer up around distorted low end frequencies, coursing in a hypnotic expedition towards the outer districts. Channeling the tendencies of Bauhaus and Joy Division, the warping "Transponder" documents the ever prevalent post-punk influence within the output of Radioactive Man. In close pursuit EP closer "Mechanical Music Menace" levels the floor. Beaming into the stratosphere, live bass pulsates through the system as man and machine fuse, xylophone keys take front and centre taking us beyond the stars.

Dr Lazarus (6:22)
Review: After a fine debut release from Dollkraut, the Pinkman affiliated Charlois label resurfaces with Love & Columbium, a four track EP conjured by the spectral presence that is Timothy J Fairplay. The Crimes of the Future co-founder is on fine form here, conjuring up the spirits of lost Giallo pioneers for a quartet of haunting dancefloor numbers rich in analogue sound. Fairplay's music has been edging up the tempo scale of late, and it really suits the rough hewn finish with "Limbo 90" a particular highlight. If you can imagine a zombified Bruno Nicolai reworking DJ Mujava's "Township Funk" then you are on the right vibe to enjoy this.

Shanti Celeste - "SSS" (OG cut) (8:10)
Funkineven - "SSS" (90s cut) (7:13)
Review: In recent times, Bristol's Shanti Celeste has proved more than adept at blending tough, body-popping electro beats with picturesque electronics and luscious, eyes-closed melodies. She's at it again here, following up two excellent outings on Future Times with the brilliant "SSS". Expect just the right blend of tactile, eyes-closed melodiousness, snappy drum machine work, and a fluid bassline that subtly doffs a cap to Syclops' "Where's Jason's K". Apron boss Funkineven offers his own interpretation on the flip, bringing it closer to early 808 State territory, while adding some neat, boogie-influenced synth touches and saucer-eyed piano flourishes.

Review: It's been some six years since Caroline "Miss Kittin" Herve and Michel "The Hacker" Amato last delivered fresh material together. While we await further news of their long-mooted comeback, there's this tasty EP of previously unheard archive material to enjoy. Made up of tracks recorded between 1997 and '99 - when their production partnership was in its' infancy - The Lost Tracks Volume 1 contains a number of fuzzy, stylish, floor-friendly bangers, from the S&M-themed madness of opener "Leather Forever" and stripped-back electro gem "Nightlife" (a tribute to Berlin clubs of the period, apparently), to the high-tempo acid-loaded freakishness of "Loving The Alien". Top-notch sleaze.

Review: Rotterdam's emergent Electronic Emergencies continues to be a label that rewards the electro fan; ushering in a new album from Dutch wave icon Das Ding for their first release, EE went on to provide a platform for the unheralded SOS and now they welcome Visonia. Nicolas Estany's project has previously impressed on Last Known Trajectory and Lux Rec and the Chilean's romantic vision of electro feels quite at home on Electronic Emergencies. The five tracks on Nausicaa might be his most accomplished set yet, and in "The Moon Doesn't Want To Look At You" possesses a lead track that will grip your attention. The two A-side tracks will lighten up any dancefloor whilst the B-side finds Estany veering off into more introspective territory before ending on a hopeful note with the glistening title track.

Review: Superb throwback electro sounds of the early noughties on offer here from Swiss artist Elektrobopacheck, debuting via his self affirming "synthesizer music laboratory". This is quite reminiscent of stuff on Vitalic's seminal Citizen Records imprint a while back. Highlights being "Atlantic Intertravel" and "Kubusmann Calculates" which sound similar to the majestic modular tones of Japanese Telecom or the late night electro funk groove of "Ride On The Waves". Sure, he's not trying to re-invent the wheel here, but it's all good!

Very much in line stylistically with previous transmissions on the label, Platform Romance finds Schnuriger channelling all manner of influences through his array of hardware resulting in eight tracks that sounds wholly cohesive despite touching on kosmiche, primitive electronics, acid and electro. It's a great listen from start to finish and there are plenty of cuts you'd want to slam into a mix too, specifically the delightful opener "A Little Bit Of Joy" and "Trains Don't Stop In Brunnen".

Review: We've already been treated to one bonafide classic Entro Senestre 12" this year in the shape of the WT Records released ES ("Rosegold" being the standout) and the producer really spoils us with another superb record in the shape of this Dekmantel debut. The producer, real name Jon Beall, is quite the talent. "The Screen" is Drexciyan-like frenetic electro with a trance, gothic-like glow, while "Hit The Road" is grubby and downright dirty; that's until those delayed chords hit. Chi-town influences, synths and emotional progressions fuel "Trails Of Love", while for some hardcore techno action check out "Slow Motion Disaster". Each track is as good as the next on this record, and yeah it's versatile, but we prefer the word: killer.

Review: Spanish electronic music sculptor IMP comes through with his second release to date, and it's on the Titan's Halo label, an imprint reserved strictly for the moodiest of electronica experimentations. "Rain Over Orion" would be the perfect companion to an 80's Manga flick, where distant melodic sequences flutter among watery atmospherics and meditative pads; the remix jobs come from Boris Divider, who chucks in a half-time beat and a flurry of machine-like noises, and Brain Machine who delivers the techno makeover in fine style.

Now living in Bristol, he presents us with "Spoken Word With Lie" on Brokntoys out of London, and keeps on with his amazing vision. The title track is a nice little acid number with creepy vocals. While "Magic Night" is quality electro on the Drexciyan tip. On the flip "Catching Clouds In Outer Space" is totally sublime soulful techno reminiscent of early John Beltran and the real highlight on here.

No News From New York (6:38)
Review: Glasgow has a new label on the horizon in the shape of Work For Love who kick off proceedings with a fine 12" from Mr Timothy J Fairplay. Given his previous form and the title of this 12", it's easy to suggest the influence of John Carpenter looms over No News From New York, but there are more strings to Fairplay's bow than that as the four tracks prove. There is a range of tempos explored here, with "Carla Is Typing A Message" a deathly crawl through delay-laden synth drama, whilst "Court Street Shuffle" is a life-affirming box jam that wouldn't sound out of place on a Legowelt record. Those melodies! "Mickey's Theme" is more redolent of Fairplay's celebrated work with Sir Weatherall, whilst the title track is the slowest production here and is quite captivating.

Review: The latest release on the long-running Electrix sub-division of Tortured Records comes from Fleck ESC, aka Tokyo based, French-born producer Franck Collin. With everyone from the Advent to Phil Keiran via Sync 24 and DynArec having previously lined a Electrix release, Collin is keeping good company on the Nice Guy EP. Up top there are two Fleck ESC gems that bristle with unpredictability and it's the darker title track that just swings it for us. On the B-side Electrix turn to Pip Williams and Carl Finlow to remix "Nice Guy" with the razor sharp kick drums on the former's effort particularly satisfying.

Review: The recent opening of Bristol hardware shop Elevator Sound by Marco Bernardi left us pondering whether the Glaswegian producer ever actually got any sleep. After all the man is a veritable production machine, with new records being announced as others are released! Mantela is Bernardi's latest slab of dark electro and represents a welcome return to the Abstract forms label he last graced two years ago. There's a wonderfully detuned feel to "Come Join Us" whilst the excellently named "Bakongak Infastrudel" seems to fizz away at the brink of total malfunction but keeps it together - wait for that bassline! The demented feel abounds on the flip too which will definitely appeal to the freakier electro fans out there.

Review: Nijmegen electro imprint Shipwrec shows us how its done yet again. After a terrific release previously from Welsh mad scientist Dez Williams, its Roel Dijcks aka Ekman stepping up, following up some killer releases on Pankerkreuz, The Trilogy Tapes and Berceuse Heroique. "Autapse" begins proceedings in haunting fashion; spooky church organs provide the backdrop for an epic, soaring acid lead while "Uncertainty Principle" is sub-aquatic, Drexciyan electro for freaks. On the flip is the title track; keeping on like before but with a four to the floor beat for added dancefloor dynamics. Finally "Antinomy" delves into deeper terrain; its razor sharp and morphing synth line leading you further into the darkness of the abyss.

Review: A genuinely unique project; Fundamental's Alex Stark created this highly limited and beautifully presented project via his love for Cygnus. This led to Biosoft Records which led to the discovery of Patronen, a man who made two album's worth of material (and probably more) on analogue machines in the early 90s and refuses to move from shadows. Twin Paradox celebrates this prolific, formative work across two albums. With the classic electro angularities and epic synthetic cosmicity are very much of their time, there's an overwhelming sense of timelessness and relevance to the project too. We reckon if you listen to cuts such as the poignant, reflective "Abstand" or the distorted, shuffling phrases and positive harmonics of "Karlsruhe Nach Basel" in 20 years time, they'll still sound just as icy and futuristic. We also reckon you need to jump on this investment now! With only 100 printed, this will sell out very quickly. (CLEAR VINYL EDITION)

Review: Those with a passion for heavyweight electro and Drexciyan sounds have long held French producer Franck Kartell in high regard. He's been working away on the fringes delivering high-grade material for a decade, and finally got round to dropping his debut album, Afterlife, last year. Here he delivers a swift follow-up, effortlessly flitting between icy ambience, Vector Lovers style electro-IDM, creepier compositions, and the kind of oddly symphonic, soundtrack-inspired fare that exists to stir the emotions. It's a far more fragile sounding set than some might expect, but no worse for it. While there's little dancefloor material on show, Kartell's downtempo fare is a cut above most of his contemporaries.

This week, the label release a very special treat and resurface 1998's "Broken Mirror", a timeless tune which is remixed by none other than Holland's Legowelt. On this 12", there's the original cut, a Detroit-leaning electro cut which comes with a revisited version. On the B-side, Mr Wolfers breaks it down, morphs the vocals and adds in his own injection of synthesizers to the mix; longer instrumental cut is the one for the dancefloor, a 4/4 lick backed by the original's ravey vocals.
