Stories Of Prison (Scientific Dreamz Of U remix)
Aim For The Yellow Sector (Alessandro Parisi remix)
Saco Bay (Perseus Traxx remix)
Night Ferry (Antenna remix)
Review: While they may have landed a fair while ago, it's great to see Emotional Response revisit Timothy J Fairplay's crucial early EPs with an absolutely on point remix package. Scientific Dreamz Of U brings his distinctive signal chain to "Stories Of Prison", using grinding synths and some snaking broken beats to create an early 90s trance mood to die for. Alessandro Parisi keeps things on a distinctly new wave tip for "Aim For The Yellow Sector", and Perseus Traxx brings a bold set of machine beats and technicolour synths to "Saco Bay". Antenna finishes the EP off by creating a winsome, wavey version of "Night Ferry" for sensitive souls to do the robot to.

Review: In the 18 months that have passed since DMX Krew's last Synth Funk series release, the long-serving British producer has released no less than four albums, most of which focused on acid, IDM, braindance and electro. This then, marks his return to the gentle and jammed-out electrofunk and boogie vibes that he does so well. There are many treats amongst the six tracks on show, including the rubbery synth-bass, meandering synth solos and sweeping chords of "98 Groove", the aqua-funk-goes-house shuffle of "Sea Chase", the Damn Funk style goodness of "Wrong" and the sharp synth riffs and bold analogue bass of glacial closer "Sludge Fudge". In other words, it's another rock solid DMX Krew release.

Review: Since first pitching up on Hypercolour late last year, hardware fetishists London Modular Alliance has continued to deliver some of the most exciting electro around. Famously, the trio construct their cuts entirely using modular synthesizers, jamming live until they settle on a groove or riff to explore further. That guarantees that their machine funk sits somewhere between the pulsating hypnotism of classic Kraftwerk, the intergalactic moodiness of Drexciya and the harder-edged fodder popular in places like Rotterdam and the Hague. It goes without saying that this EP is packed with killer cuts from start to finish, something that makes picking highlights truly tricky. Really, all you need to know is that it's a must-have.

Rolling Dutch
Rave On Plastic
Review: Valcrond Video continues its devilish run of form with this new single from Fallbeil, a project that has previously been spotted on New York Haunted, Return To Disorder and Mannequin. That should give you an idea of the kind of deviant sonics we're dealing with here, skirting around industrial, electro and techno with limber and dirty hardware jams for the sinister dancefloor. "Rolling Dutch" clearly nods towards The Hague way of doing things, all eerie pads, gnarly acid lines and rasping drums, while on the flip side "Rave On Plastic" pushes the bubbling monosynth action to the front of the mix.

U.F.O. (Sad Story About Conquering A Planet)
Pianelice
Charlie On The Moon
Review: After the label debuted recently with a 12" from Enrico Mantini, Purism returns with another fresh talent in the shape of Pepe Villalba, who makes a mighty fine impression with this first outing. "Acidbreak" may be something of a misleading name, although the 303 and a broken beat do feature heavily. It's actually woozy lead lines that shape out the vibe of this track, making for a dreamy electro diversion, and the mysterious yet warmly melodic tone continues on "U.F.O. (Sad Story About Conquering A Planet)". "Pianelice" is a different kind of jam with its stark keys way out front, but it's no less classy and ear-catching. "Charlie On The Moon" then finishes the record off with some slow, leftfield sparkle pitched at the lounging crew.

Synapse - "Payback" (5:59)
TCMF - "We Are The Almost People" (with Isti F) (4:07)
Review: Selway's Serotonin repletes itself once again with vital electro jams that tap deep into the b-boy, machine funk foundations while glaring into a bleak future. Angular and iced-out through and through, the label takes the lead with a raw acid attack before inviting longstanding German sculptor Alex Cortex for more visceral neck-snap beat fun. Deeper again Selway and Jason Szostek Synapse project where a looser roll in the groove gives more of a Detroitian sensation. Meanwhile for the parting gesture, the mysterious TCMF get their glitch on with more of an acid house / breaks flavoured take on the classic sound. Welcome to the future.

En Retirant (5:52)
Review: LCN is the alias for Le Chocolat Noir, an artist whose thirst for roughneck electro seems absolutely devoid of any sort of replenishment. The man's been active for near ten years now, skipping and hopping from label to label, and he lands on Gooiland Elektro, a subsidiary of Enfant Terrible, with these four stomping bangers. The A-side twists and turns its industrial gears with a fluid motion, bubbling up all sorts of dark energies from the depths of the inferno; the flip is no less magnetic in its look-and-feel, offering up two dicey cuts - "Solitude" and "En Retirant" - the former being a deep excursion into cold-waves and the latter a nasty, vibrating acid hybrid for the warehouse.

Kammermusik
Review: German producer Martin Matiske has been sporadic in his appearances dating back to 2002, but when he releases a record he makes it count. Following previous turns on International Deejay Gigolo and Stilleben, he now brings his fulsome electro sound to Vivod sounding fresher than ever. "Die Nibelungen" draws on a fine tradition of German electronica while using that mechanical melancholy you might find in a Bochum Welt track. "Bayerischer Wald" is a cheery synth-pop celebration, and "Virtuosic Mechanic" is a more snappy club track with plenty of Bunker-friendly darkness packed into its bones. "Kammermusik" cools things down with a lovely meander through plaintive bleep lines and plastic synth leads.

Review: From Quebec, With Love is the first EP from SLEAZY, a project from Stacy Boudreault (Marie Davidson) and Sam Paquette (Ginger Breaker). An ode to the rural and suburban Quebec experience, SLEAZY is the progenitor of Suburban Techno.

SLEAZY made their recorded debut in April 2017 with the single Que Calor, released as a limited edition cassette at a party headlined by Helena Hauff in Montreal. Described by NPR as "...equal parts inviting and menacing" and Pitchfork as "playful and sensual... music made for the family home's basement - a soundtrack for all the salacious discoveries one might make in that damp, dark incubator."

Europa (12" version) (8:22)
Europa (Timothy J Fairplay remix) (7:53)
Review: Malka Tuti was founded by Asaf Samuel and Katzele, two of the founders of Tel-Aviv's 84% Creativity collective. Refusing to adhere to any official musical culture or heritage, they have a certain freedom in creating a mix of their influences over the years. Therefore, they decided to bring forward their ideas and tastes. "Europa" is the first single from Tapan's (aka Nebojsa Bogdanovic and Goran Simonoski) forthcoming LP and follows up great releases on Crimes Of The Future and W.T. It is a moody and tunnelling epic fuelled by exotic drums, Middle Eastern horns and cosmic synths that build to a thrilling climax. The track was recorded during long jam sessions in Belgrade, at a time when the city 'became the purgatorial destination for a large number of migrants'. This record reflects on a time when a real uncertainty descended on the Serbian capital.

Review: Snuff Trax sub-label In The Dark Again is, by all accounts, up to their tricks... again! This time, however, they've managed to pull together a few new artists to their roster, Latvian underground sensation Igors Vorobjovs and Bass Agenda's Dmitry Distant. Igor opens the A-side with the grainy, distorted quasi-electro of "Reloading", followed by the comparatively cleaner and more suave bumps of "Broken Synthesizer". Distant's "Deviation" is a breath of fresh air by comparison, coming through with a much cooler strain of deep-minded electro, before Vorobjovs tears down the house once more with "The Future Was Here" and "Free Your Mind"; "Multiple Allelism" by Dmitry Distant makes for the perfect closing tune thanks to a starry landscape of synths and aqueous beats.
