International Women’s Day 2019: Nabihah Iqbal

Born in London in the late 80’s, Nabihah Iqbal is one of the finest talents to come out of the city’s music scene. With her beyond eclectic and versatile taste in music, Nabihah studied a joint honours at SOAS in History and Ethnomusicology. Although taking influence from the sounds of her childhood, it was during her time as an undergraduate that her musical horizons widened further. With her recent album “Weighing of the Heart” on Ninja tune, her previous releases under the alias Throwing Shade and her weekly NTS Radio show, Iqbal’s focus varies from live instrumentation to the new, unchartered waters of dance music and this can be clearly heard through her selections.
