Slowhand (10:21)
Tall For His Height (5:17)
Kez (7:15)
Review: Seminal reissue alert! Baby Ford had already been a chart-baiting acid house superstar by the time he launched the PAL SL label in 1996. He'd left behind the major label scene and moved firmly back into the underground with exploratory techno releases on Ifach and collaborations with Mark Broom. This new label marked a shift for Ford though, setting him up for the trips into minimalist club tracks that have been his bread and butter for decades now. From the machine soul trysts of "Slow Hand" to the woozy techno thrust of "Tall For His Height" and the atmospheric house wriggle of "Kez", this release is a classic through and through. Beat the sharks and nab a copy of this long out-of-print gem.

Review: Dance music documentarian and DJ Matt Anniss is on a one-man mission to raise awareness of bleep techno, the sub-bass heavy style that began the UK bass music story. This killer compilation follows on from his critically acclaimed book (also called "Join The Future") and gathers together a mixture of hard-to-find tracks (see Unique 3's "Only The Beginning"), personal favourites (Ital Rockers' "Dreams", Nightmares On Wax's "21st Kong", DJ Martin and DJ Holmes' phenomenal rework of Man Machine), scene anthems (Demonik, Nexus 21, Cabaret Voltaire) and previously unreleased cuts (Alfanso's far-sighted "Dub Feels Nice (Version 4)" is particularly impressive). Thanks to some genius-like mastering work from Warp co-founder Rob Gordon, it all sounds insanely weighty and high-tech, too, making this a must-have for even confirmed bleep heads.

Review: The hotly anticipated debut album from Minor Science is finally here. After a run of acclaimed singles on Whities, the Berlin-based producer has built on his supple, shape-shifting sound to present a kaleidoscopic long-player that reveals a well-read musical mind with the imagination and studio chops to weave a broad tapestry of sounds into one constantly engaging, dynamic whole. "Second Language" spans a lot of ground from delicate ambient electronica to Autonomic drum & bass, stopping at Gqom, rave, micro house, dubstep and plenty more along the way, but crucially all these motifs are given a thorough treatment until everything sparkles with originality. It's also a boisterous and fidgety record, especially on the playful chops, edits and fills of "Blue Deal". You won't hear another record quite like it this year, and yet it will go down with a strangely familiar ease. Hats off to Minor Science, firmly delivering on the promise of his early 12"s.

Review: Over the last couple of years, Aussie Katie Campbell has delivered a string of well-regarded EPs and 12" singles steeped in retro-futurist flavours. Here she delivers here most expansive release to date, a double-pack that officially counts as the Roza Terenzi debut album. Her usual aural trademarks are all present - think deep bass, dreamy synths, fluttering electronic melodies, euphoric melodic motifs, breakbeats and bustling beats that are anything but conformist - alongside nods towards turn-of-the-90s techno, weighty electro rhythms and snappy, ghetto-house inspired workouts. It's undeniably a Roza Terenzi release, and there's enough variety - coupled with smart sequencing - to make it hang together as an album. Oh, and bass-heavy, Bleep-inspired closer "My Reality Cheque Bounced" is one of the best things Campbell has released to date.

Review: When looking for someone to create a very special mix to celebrate Berghain's 15th birthday, Ostgut Ton turned to Luke Slater, a DJ/producer who has played in the infamous Berlin club more times than most. Slater decided to take a different approach, creating a slew of brand-new cuts out of samples and snippets of tracks buried within the German label's vast discography. These were then stitched together to form a mix that the label is making free to download from April 3rd. The "O-Ton Reassembled" tracks are superb though, hence this double 12" featuring the best of them. Mostly focused firmly on the dancefloor, they range from loop-heavy techno jack-tracks to pleasingly melodic and hypnotic affairs, via occasional forays into 21st century breakbeat science, polyrhthmic dancefloor slammers and fiendishly out-there dancefloor soundscapes.

Review: Turin techno stalwart Andrea has been serving up slabs of goodness on Ilian Tape since way back in 2012, though "Ritorno" is remarkably his very first full-length excursion. The 12 track set is far more varied than his fine club-focused singles, with the Italian variously turning his hand to swelling, Global Communication style ambient techno ("Attimo"), ultra-deep breakbeat dreaminess ("SKLYN"), melodious, jungle-influenced IDM ("LS September"), bassbin rattlers ("TrackQY", the skittish brilliance of moody roller "Reinf"), dreamy soundscape techno ("LG_Amb"), angular fusions of bass music and dark Italo-techno ("Drumzzy") and picturesque ambient dub slow jams ("Twin Forests").

Struction - "Strukture" (4:56)
Review: With this release, the Zenker Brothers' Ilian Tape label has delivered something of a curveball. It sees experimental D&B producer and all round bass head Djrum join the party, sharing space with unknown quantity Struction. Djrum begins with broken techno gem "Untitled 9", cutting up sweaty broken beats, heavy basslines and deep techno electronics. On the flip, we are treated to the sounds of Struction, combining punchy breakbeats with ambient-influenced electronics on the rolling "Don't Blame", before moving further towards beat-less, end-of-night territory with the acid-flecked trip that is "Struktur".

Rhythms & Souls (5:54)
Review: Juan Rico has many aliases to his name, but he's been doing some especially fierce work as Architectural with releases on Wolfskuil and Ellum Audio alongside his own self-titled label. Now he lands on R&S with this surefooted 12", which leads in with the distinctive P-funk techno slapper "This Is Not Purple". It's a heavy loop which hammers home on the one for eight minutes plus. On the flip, "Rhythms & Souls" has a more industrial bite - that's the Ministry version of industrial mind you - which merges perfectly with his club-geared techno sensibilities to make for a vitally exciting weapon for any adventurous DJ who wants some vintage crunch in their sonic palette.

Dawit - "Level 7" (5:34)
Review: Many happy returns to Bradley Zero's Rhythm Section International label, which this month notches up five years in the game. To celebrate, he's releasing a celebratory compilation and two sampler EPs. This first 12" begins with some inspired broken beat/Nu Groove style deep house fusion from the ever-impressive Yu Su, before moving through ghostly techno (the fizzing beats and yearning chords of Katerina's "Bird People") and manic, metallic and industrial-tinged dancefloor madness courtesy of Lock Eyes ("Inner Conspiracy"). Valesuchi offers up the dense industrial/tribal fusion of "30" - all heavy Test Department beats and woozy electronic noises, while "Dawit" invites us to the glassy eyed, futurist deep house paradise that is "Level 7".

Review: TerraFirm's fifth release comes courtesy of Vytamin, a debutant producer with a fetish for the more psychedelic aspects of electronic music culture. For proof, check opener "Conquete", a bustling chunk of trippy acid electro rich in 1980s style Fairlight stabs, or the bustling track that follows, the funk-fuelled electro-breaks retro-futurism of "Telemetro". There's a slightly more intergalactic feel to similarly thickset flipside opener "Speed Limit" (an ear-pleasing slab of tech-funk filled with squiggly synth lines and bubbly bass), while closing cut "Outer Rim" is a slightly tougher and alien-embracing dance through far-sighted electro-breaks pastures.

Review: After the expansive run of eXquisite CORpsE EPs on Platform 23 last year, Robbert Heijnen and Debbie Jones' project gets another fresh airing under the XqST guise. The seductive rhythmic incantations gathered on this release were largely recorded in 2003 in Vancouver, once the couple's children were in bed. Quite what the junior XqSTers would have made of the transcendental drum loops emanating from their parents' studio is anyone's guess, but the quality is remarkable. Dense and foggy in atmosphere, but with a sharply defined percussive angle at every cycle of every loop, this is another wonderful document of the often overlooked work of this singular pair of drum obsessives.

Review: We've become accustomed to hearing Donato Dozzy in full-on moody techno mode, so this gorgeously sun-kissed set of ambient compositions is a pleasing turn up for the books. The assembled tracks started life as a sound installation for 24 speakers, inspired by, and placed on, Rome's "Music Bridge". For this reason, many of the tracks include some form of musical movement - think Tangerine Dream style synthesizer arpeggio lines, Reichian style minimalist melodic cycles etc - while others seem to urge us to pause from breath and take in the view. Others draw influence from Indian percussion and instrumentation or swell like the water that flows beneath the bridge that inspired the music. Throughout, the results are little less than spellbinding.

Purplewave (Silicon Scally remix) (7:07)
Purplewave (No Moon remix) (6:28)
Review: We're not quite sure what "Purplewave" is, though by the sounds of this EP from electro and techno veteran Rico Casazza it's something we like. The title track, which kicks of the EP in style, is a curious but inspired blend of electro rhythms played on live drums, 1980s alt-rock guitar solos, druggy Italo-disco/new wave style arpeggio bass and alien-sounding electronic melodies. On side B it gets the remix treatment, with Silicon Scally (AKA British electro stalwart Carl Finlow) re-inventing it as a shimmering slice of deep space electro and No Moon offering up a trippy, chugging and dreamy version for late nights and early mornings. Elsewhere on the EP, Casazza delves in to dark electro waters on "Rainmaker" and adds acid to his guitar-flecked template on "Enada Mello".

Review: It's been a fair old while since we last heard any new material from Blawan and Pariah's hardware-based Karenn project. In fact, "Kind Of Green" is the duo's first collaborative release for almost five years. They start in suitably forthright, floor-friendly fashion via "Rek", a dense, full-throttle techno assault rich in buzzing, mind-altering motifs, before wrapping spacey sounds around metallic percussion hits on the noticeably deeper title track. Those looking for devilish intensity should check the dark and intoxicating "Salz", while closing cut "Newt" is a pleasingly sparse and out-there chunk of mid-tempo modular madness.

Review: Despite being one of the UK's most prolific electronic musicians, Jacob Martin AKA Hodge has never released a solo album. "Shadows In Blue" is therefore one of the most hotly anticipated debut full-lengths for some time. Appearing just under a decade after his first single, the set expands on his sub-heavy, club-centric blends of techno and bass and showcases a producer at the peak of his powers. There are a number of speaker-busting dancefloor workouts - see "Sense Inversion", the tropical techno creepiness of "Lanes" and the Lone-ish stomp of "Ghost of Akina (Rainbow Edition)" - but the most striking thing about the album is Martin's promotion of pastoral sounds, blissful melodies, picturesque new age soundscapes and trumpet-laden, dubbed-out ambient jazz (see closing cut "One Last Dance").

Review: Last year U.S techno veteran Mike Parker took time out to look back on his career, in the process offering up a collection of 'Early Works' and a couple of reissues of some of his most celebrated late '90s works. Here he kicks off a new series on Spazio Disponibile, "The Devil's Curators", and it's a little different to what you might expect. The five cuts are as deep and hypnotic as ever, but far from standard techno slammers. In fact, the rhythms are inventive and off-kilter, with Parker either breaking up the beats or experimenting with halftime beats. Throw in a couple of loopy, beat-free modular experiments and you have a rock solid set of mixing tools for inventive techno DJs.
