Review: Over the last couple of years, Aussie Katie Campbell has delivered a string of well-regarded EPs and 12" singles steeped in retro-futurist flavours. Here she delivers here most expansive release to date, a double-pack that officially counts as the Roza Terenzi debut album. Her usual aural trademarks are all present - think deep bass, dreamy synths, fluttering electronic melodies, euphoric melodic motifs, breakbeats and bustling beats that are anything but conformist - alongside nods towards turn-of-the-90s techno, weighty electro rhythms and snappy, ghetto-house inspired workouts. It's undeniably a Roza Terenzi release, and there's enough variety - coupled with smart sequencing - to make it hang together as an album. Oh, and bass-heavy, Bleep-inspired closer "My Reality Cheque Bounced" is one of the best things Campbell has released to date.

Sununguka (12" version) (5:58)
Rwendo (5:12)
Sununguka (Alan Dixon Italo mix) (7:27)
Sununguka (Special extended dub mix) (5:43)
Review: Faze Action have been on a roll with their collaborative project with Zeke Manyika, which first started up in 2016 and now reaches its fourth installment with the infectiously uplifting "Sununguka". In its original form the Afro-house burner artfully blends Manyika's Zimbabwean roots with Faze Action's knack for '80s tinged proto-house. "Rwendo" is a more laid back affair compared to the lead track, but it's no less effervescent thanks to Manyika's vocals. On the B side, Alan Dixon drops a feisty Italo version of "Sununguka" that sounds purpose built for spine-tingling sundown moments, while there's also a pumped up "Special Extended Dub" version to appeal to headsy DJs looking to keep the floor running at full tilt.

Slowhand (10:21)
Tall For His Height (5:17)
Kez (7:15)
Review: Seminal reissue alert! Baby Ford had already been a chart-baiting acid house superstar by the time he launched the PAL SL label in 1996. He'd left behind the major label scene and moved firmly back into the underground with exploratory techno releases on Ifach and collaborations with Mark Broom. This new label marked a shift for Ford though, setting him up for the trips into minimalist club tracks that have been his bread and butter for decades now. From the machine soul trysts of "Slow Hand" to the woozy techno thrust of "Tall For His Height" and the atmospheric house wriggle of "Kez", this release is a classic through and through. Beat the sharks and nab a copy of this long out-of-print gem.

Review: Last year, reborn Miami electro imprint Isophlux raided their vaults and delivered a retrospective of late '90s and early 2000s tracks by label co-founder Shad T Scott under the Gosub alias. Here they continue to mine the archives by reissuing one of his finest EPs to date, 2006's "The Future Is Enslaved". There's plenty of classic cuts to savour throughout, from the Artificial Arm style future funk of "The Chains Of Technology" and the chunkier, Detroit-influenced spacey warmth of "Next To Me", to the spiralling electro bliss of "The Mountain of RU" and the acid-fired Drexciya style headiness of "The Element II (Metal Beast Mix)".

Review: Like many of his contemporaries, US producer Huerco S usually deals in wavy, trembling house amalgams, but also often deals in all things ambient and beatless. This new LP on Anthony Naples' Proibito, however, is a marked step in a different direction from the artist, and it shows us that he's more talented at the genre than merely a B2 stuck on at the end of a techno deviation. For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have) is a stunning ambient album; each track across its duration is filled with life and purpose, a clear musical and expressive direction that many so-called ambient artists lack. It's likely to be remembered for a long time, and allow this artist to be seen as having a truly experimental mindset.

Review: When looking for someone to create a very special mix to celebrate Berghain's 15th birthday, Ostgut Ton turned to Luke Slater, a DJ/producer who has played in the infamous Berlin club more times than most. Slater decided to take a different approach, creating a slew of brand-new cuts out of samples and snippets of tracks buried within the German label's vast discography. These were then stitched together to form a mix that the label is making free to download from April 3rd. The "O-Ton Reassembled" tracks are superb though, hence this double 12" featuring the best of them. Mostly focused firmly on the dancefloor, they range from loop-heavy techno jack-tracks to pleasingly melodic and hypnotic affairs, via occasional forays into 21st century breakbeat science, polyrhthmic dancefloor slammers and fiendishly out-there dancefloor soundscapes.

My Thing (3:24)
Children Of The Night (3:48)
Review: This is a super new 7" from Japan's Rock A Shacka. It finds the Chosen Few tackle reggae cuts from The Stylistics and The Moments and the results are so sweet they'll have your mouth watering. "My Thing" hits a gorgeously soul drenched bullseye between dub, reggae and lovers rock, largely thanks to the gorgeous vocal up top. The gently swaying drums and guitar riffs only heighten the soothing effect. "Children Of The Night" goes slower, with more effects and fatter bass to sink deep into as the horizontal grooves encourage you to lay back and gaze at the stars.

Too Complex (4:43)
It's Your Life (3:50)
Review: Last year Chopped Herring Records offered up a fine album of vintage demos from Massachusetts MC La Da Head Toucha, a rapper who never quite hit the heights commercially many expected he would. That was not for the want of trying though, and his double A-side 1997 debut remains a much-loved underground hip-hop classic. Here it gets the reissue treatment, appearing on seven-inch for the very first time. A-side "Too Complex" is superb, with La Da Head Toucha delivering Q-Tip style flows over a sparkling, golden-era beat that makes great use of Don Blackman samples. Flipside "It's Your Life" is a deeper affair built around a slightly stripped-back beat which is nevertheless a bona-fide head-nodder.

Review: Ask Vatn Strom, Eskild Myrvoll and Ingvald Vassbo are hardly the kind of trio you can take lightly. The Norwegian heads blew many of us away with their 2018 debut album, 'Windborne', and seem intent on continuing to deliver the same powerhouse fare on this next long form offering. Psychedelic progressive rock fusion is one label that has been used in the past, and we'd struggle to summarise the work better. Comprising six grand and ambitious tracks, it's easy to start reaching for jazz-y references given the freeform feel of this collection.'"Shades Of Yes' are just about audible on opener 'Worlds Together', the appropriately titled 'Mountain' is a huge affair that grows and builds to a staggering scale, while the likes of 'Worlds Apart' reveal Kanaan's ability to deliver bonafide steel and concrete heaviness with those guitars.

No Affection (5:46)
Just Stop It (4:56)
Too Familliar (5:19)
Review: 'Sensitive booty house' from Brooklyn-based producer Max Ravitz. If the name sounds familiar, that's probably because recognise his work under the alias Patricia, which has been released on respected labels like L.I.E.S., Opal Tapes and Spectral Sound over the last few years. An avid listener of booty house in his youth spent in Chicago, Ravitz could appreciate the genre's energy, but couldn't relate as much to its lyrics. With his new alias Pizzaboy, we see him 'flip the archetype and make consent-focused lyrics' on the "Deep Dish EP". This can be heard on the intense opening track "No Affection" featuring his now signature style of bassline over frantic 808 rhythm patterns. This is followed by the stripped-down warehouse techno of "Just Stop It" which is more familiar of Patricia's understated style.

Review: Genuine honesty is pretty rare in music today - even when artists claim to bare their soul it's often calculated. For Brian Christinzio, AKA BC Camplight, though, nothing could be further from the truth. His work is aurally exploratory and adventurous, and he makes no secret of real feelings, even if those feelings risk making the audience feel a little uncomfortable. Take the intro to 'Ghosthunting' here - the man in question delivers a pseudo-standup route discussing his mental health issues. It makes how enjoyable the track is, and the album overall, somewhat jarring. This is clearly a work of some personal struggle. Nevertheless, enjoy we must as it's pretty near perfect. Beautiful electronica, dark synth wave stuff, and commanding, No.1-friendly pop with real bite. Overlook at your peril.

Moerarie Morei Atjara (version) (3:59)
Moerarie Morei Atjara (instrumental) (3:33)
Review: While it may look and sound decidedly vintage, this collaboration between veteran Surinamese musician A Bechan and Music With Soul founder Alex Figueira is in fact brand spanking new. In its' A-side "Version" mix form, "Moerarie Morei Atjara" brilliantly joins the dots between Surinamese "Hindostan" music (a style developed by the country's Indian community over decades) and the sweaty tropical rhythms of Cumbia. It's terrific stuff all told, with Bechan's ear-catching Hindu language vocals riding killer South American rhythms, jaunty bass and equally jumpy accordion motifs. Those accordions come to the fore on the flipside instrumental take, which also includes some seriously spacey Juno-60 synthesizer lines. Recommended.

Obsession (5:22)
Review: Italy has long been a hotbed of dreamy and melodic house, and young DJ and producer Il Flaco Scivola of Terra Sonora and Play Crew keeps that tradition alive. Here, he offers slick, spaced out tracks that are shiny and spacious. "My House" is the enticing opener with its frictionless drums and hi hats before "Move By Water" then bumps a little more freely with clipped kicks and smart vocal samples. "Wet Floor" is all melodic droplets, fluid synths and warped bass that will twist your melon and "Obsession" continues with a dubbed out but kicking vibe that the heads will love.

Review: Based in London, UK, but originally hailing from Argentina, Malena Zavala is nothing if not disinterested in picking a style and sticking with it. Following on from her 2018 debut album, 'Aliso', 'La Yarara' again sees her combining some bold and often disparate genres, and playing with language - Spanish and English - to dazzling effect. The result being a record that's devastatingly effective and equally original. 'What If I' is a positive, upbeat and hypnotic pop lullaby. 'Compay' is saturated in a bluesy atmosphere, melding this with downtempo electronica. 'I'm Leaving Home' is a lackadaisical, whispered slice of reflective chill out. The title track is South American exoticism, canned and then opened on record. A huge talent diving deeper into sonic possibilities, and following what sounds good rather than familiar.

Review: As with so many albums, there is a story behind 'For Their Love', arguably the best from Other Lives since 2011's debut 'Tamer Animals'. It involves songwriter Jesse Tabish relocating from liberal and open-minded Portland to the backwaters of Oregon, moving into a rustic rural home surrounded by the unfathomably vast United States wilderness. A setting that's audible throughout this record. The slow, plodding introduction of 'Sound Of Violence' has more than a few shades of Wild West about it, not least when the track opens into soaring strings invoking great adventure. 'Lost Day' is an altogether darker effort, in many ways capturing the zeitgeist of America's New Wave cinema movement, which often set its scenes in almost-uncharted outback of this vast nation. Musically impressive, thematically challenging - touching on everything from hope to the role of the state in society - it's a huge piece of work to say the least.

Review: With this release, the Zenker Brothers' Ilian Tape label has delivered something of a curveball. It sees experimental D&B producer and all round bass head Djrum join the party, sharing space with unknown quantity Struction. Djrum begins with broken techno gem "Untitled 9", cutting up sweaty broken beats, heavy basslines and deep techno electronics. On the flip, we are treated to the sounds of Struction, combining punchy breakbeats with ambient-influenced electronics on the rolling "Don't Blame", before moving further towards beat-less, end-of-night territory with the acid-flecked trip that is "Struktur".

Here he kicks off a new series on Spazio Disponibile, "The Devil's Curators", and it's a little different to what you might expect. The five cuts are as deep and hypnotic as ever, but far from standard techno slammers. In fact, the rhythms are inventive and off-kilter, with Parker either breaking up the beats or experimenting with halftime beats. Throw in a couple of loopy, beat-free modular experiments and you have a rock solid set of mixing tools for inventive techno DJs.

After the scintillating run of EPs on Warp, he delivers his first album for the label he now calls home, and it builds on the sound he's established by fusing the heart-rending impact of trance with bold sequencing and processing that could only come from a smartly arranged tangle of internal computer processes. It's as strong as you'd expect, with highlights including the heavyweight, delay-laden disco-funk brilliance of Dimitri From Brooklyn's "Hooked On This Feeling" (a dub disco revision of an old Frank Hooker jam by Dimitri From Paris), the Clavinet-driven, piano-laden peak-time hustle of Joey Negro's "Let's Get Ornery", the Clarinet and trumpet-sporting hedonism of Jacques Renault's emotive and heart-tugging "Said I Would" and the screaming, hands-aloft rush of Superprince's "Dependable". Fittingly, label co-fouder JKriv delivers one of the standouts, a rolling revision of an Italo-style, arpeggio-driven delight titled "Lovin' Lasers".

Review: As fast-rising underground stars in their own right, you'd expect any collaborative album from soul-fired South London singer/songwriter/beat-maker Tom Misch and prolific jazz drummer Yussef Dayes (best known for his now long-running collaboration with Kamaal Williams) to be rather good. "What Kinda Music" is, with the pair mixing and mangling elements of soul, jazz-funk, electronica and jazz, a set that defies easy categorisation. Both musicians exceed themselves throughout, with tipsy electronics, sweeping strings, bass, effects-laden guitars, woozy synth lines and Misch's heartfelt, soul-flecked vocals offering a perfect foil for Dayes' loose-limbed, headline-grabbing drumming.

Beautifully subdued, warm and hypnotic, K Lone carefully crafts a whole narrative using minimal instruments and textures throughout. Vibrating with a timeless style that nods to dub techno and the deeper side of Detroit, highlights include the sweet harmonics of tracks like "Honey" and "Cocoa" to the dreamy lullaby-like charm of cuts such as "Bluefin" and the delicate, trembling finale "Happened". A perfect, ultimately calming soundtrack to these strange, turbulent times.

So far, so mysterious. Whatever the identity of those behind the project, the album is well worth a listen. Its shadowy creators flit between high-octane dancefloor jazz ("S-Kai", "Q To Start"), organic downtempo grooves (the sun-kissed "Grape Juice" and samba-soaked warmth of "The Lost Words"), synth-sporting takes on the heady Rotary Comnection sound ("Psych") and giddy jazz-funk ("The Recovery"). The real stand out though is "Brave Games", which sounds like a thrill-a-minute fusion of Batacuda, jazz-funk and dancefloor jazz.

Their latest album, "Allegiance & Conviction", is their first for three years and sees them drowsily drift through a selection of opaque, otherworldly tunes rich in densely layered guitars, hazy aural textures, barely audible vocals and dreamy, delay-laden sounds.
